what have i missed?

- Terry hosted a charity event over the weekend. People got to auction and pay money to meet, eat with, and get signed memorabilia from Terry. All proceeds went to charity.

- Matt Law conveyed the narrative that Terry was doing this himself and the money was going to him, as if he was this desperate for cash.

- Terry's representatives and Terry himself stepped forward and cleared the misconception.

- Matt Law then apologized and corrected his original social media post.

- Terry publicly replied and called him out stating if you knew the truth it wouldn't of been in your best interest as you wouldn't of had a story to write.

I went to the event and really enjoyed it, JT was brilliant spoke for the first hour about his career, how he started, things that happened along the way and then answered questions in the second part from the audience.  It was really good and if anyone gets a chance to go I would - you can get general admission for £25 and then there are other packages which include photo's, dinner etc.

JT accepted Gerrard's invitation to play in a charity game at Anfield in 2015

The Liverpool Echo gave him credit for turning out at a ground that is always hostile towards him.

The rest of the media just want to hammer him every chance they get

f**k em all

One of the few positives of social media is how easily and quickly players (or people in general) are able to convey their side of the story if required. Really does make you think about some of the sh*te in years gone by that was simply fabricated.

Glad Terry went after Law directly after releasing his video response to the story.

The media were c**ts to that generation. Terry, Rooney, Beckham, etc, the media were constantly trying to pull them down. Obviously some of the criticism was fair, but the majority of it was a load of sh*te fabricated by awful people. They've reined it in since they were called racist during all of those times Sterling was getting the same treatment, but it still comes out now and again.

It's done lasting damage to these former players too, because every time I see Terry mentioned, you always get the "whatever you think of him as a person, he was a great player" They always attack his character before praising him.

Let's be real, he arguably should've been inducted among the first round of nominations. Kompany being before him is a piss take.  Interesting how they finally allowed Terry to be a nominee in but they are still waiting on Giggs.

Best CB in the Premier League era for me. About time.

Well deserved, though I think this Hall of fame stuff is all American style popularity contests.

John's real honours is the place he holds in our hearts, Chelsea history, winners medals, the memories, being our greatest ever captain during our greatest ever period.

Captain.  Leader. Legend. Says it all.

Clocked him at Pets At Home in Raynes Park bout 10 years ago. He was looking at dog baskets with his partner Toni Poole. Shocked by just how massive he was across the shoulders. Proper Honey Monster. From waist to shoulders looked like a snooker frame. His anatomy helped him become a master of the subtle, just right side of legal body check. Loved the guy

Can’t ever remember him having a howler, or getting skinned by a speed merchant. Phenomenal footballer

We'll never get another one like JT, and tbh I'm convinced he could've played until Silva's age, the Aston Villa fans loved him. Conte just wanted more pace at the back, a bit similar to Villas-Boas who probably would've tried to sell JT had he stayed.

Steven Gerrard - "If I had to pick a CB it would be out of John Terry and Van Dijk. Of the two, I would have to pick John Terry. Obviously, biasedly I'd love to pick Van Dijk because he's transformed Liverpool these past 5-6 years and he's my favorited defender in the world right now. From my own personal experience, I played with John for over 10 years and he'd get in anyone's XI."

Make sure you show this to every Liverpool fan. They will have a meltdown. They all rate Van Dijk over Terry, but they never disagree with with anything Stevie Me says 😆

The last bit is the key though.

Van Dijk is arguably just as good as either Terry or Rio were their best. The difference is that the latter two were at the top level for more than a decade.

At 26 years old, Terry was lifting his 2nd Premier League trophy. Being in the UEFA Team of the season alongside Nesta.

At 26 Van Dijk was at Southampton.
