I have always maintained that Lampard is my favourite Chelsea player of all time.

Then I think just how much JT has done for our club and change my mind...

We were so lucky to have them.

The sc*mbag media would have you focused on the wrongs of JT, which is largely why he was only appreciated by Chelsea supporters for the many good things he done. Facing the facts though, I don't think there was any club or supporters in the world that would not have had him in their team.

He was a rock. He never had pace, and yet hardly ever got skinned; bit like Bobby Moore.

He was obviously quick enough just not Ferdinand, Van dyk express quick, i think the only time he was properly done, was under Vilas boas, against arsenal and Van persil,....playing that suicidal high defensive line.

Oh how I miss our defense with him, Cahill, brana and Ashley. What a defense. We dominated both boxes of set plays.

I would swap Cavalho for Cahill yet agree with your sentiment,  a powerful defence.

There were a few times when JT brought his man down and got the ref's benefit seem to remember Craig Bellamy causing JT some grief.

I thought the club let JT train at Cobham from time to time ? Plus he didn't exactly seem persona non grata at that charity match at Stamford bridge last weekend that was covered all over the website ... so I call bullsh*t from this Castles muppet ....

Really good interview with JT and Carjacker about the rivalry between Chelsea & Liverpool. Worth a view.

Carragher has it %100 regarding Torres. I don't know how others felt at those times but when we signed Shevchenko despite him being older at the time i thought and hoped he'd hit the ground running and was a bit surprised he couldn't produce (in hindsight it's easy to see his injury and playing through it at the world cup would be a problem). But I knew Torres was going to be a massive flop for us! And felt at the time us going for him was kneejerk and because he always scored against us and the two goals he got when he was having a crap season and already looked a shadow of himself from previous seasons, even with hindsight I don't think it can be overstated really how stupid a transfer it was at the time.

Yeah, that was an interesting 60 minute discussion with JT and Carjacker.  Carjacker actually sounded rather semi-intelligent, and I had not much trouble understanding his scouse accent.

However, his use of the word "YOWSE" for 'you' was off-putting.  Is that a scouse expression?

His knowledge of the game is unreal, when he does the quiz's (SKY have created that segment over the lockdown) he goes into detail about games he's asked about from 20 odd years ago, Neville by contrast forgot who his first goal was against. He has excellent banter aswell.

He also made the point that Torres shouldn't have played vs Liverpool on his debut, an opinion which i was screaming to anyone who'd listen at the time, Carlo made a huge blunder throwing him in.

The circumstances surrounding that game would have been too much for even the mentally strongest of player's.

Yes totally agree, I also remember saying he shouldn't play that game at the time, also I think most people could see due to injury he was spent before he joined us mind you, he scored at Barca, won corner for drogs equaliser in Munich and scored in Europa final, so he gave us some memories, won f**k all at dippers!!

Great watch, apart from carragher and shreeves had to bring up the Anfield atmosphere again!! If they wanted a scary atmosphere should of been at Sunderland Semi final in 1985 at the bridge inside and outside ground.

I'm pretty sure someone did some analysis at the time that showed Torres only scored against the weaker sides ... gluts of goals admittedly, but very much a "flat track bully" in the mould of Graham Hick in cricket.

Makes you wonder why no-one at the club pointed that out, though maybe they did, and our billionaire owner just wanted to buy him anyway ...
