They all rate Van Dijk over Terry, but they never disagree with with anything Stevie Me says 😆 f**k Stevie Gerrard, who cares what he thinks ? Or what Liverpool fans think about our legend JT . The difference is that the latter two were at the top level for more than a decade. At 26 years old, Terry was lifting his 2nd Premier League trophy. Being in the UEFA Team of the season alongside Nesta. At 26 Van Dijk was at Southampton. Terry had to defend against Henry, Rooney, Tevez, Aguero, Bergkamp, Suarez, RVP all in their primes. Who's Van Dijk realistically had to go up against at Liverpool? Kane? An old Aguero?

The fact Terry managed to play & win against all of them means he was at the top level during that same period. Van Dijk only has Haaland & Kane but these are 2 strikers who have broken PL records.

This is why, in my opinion, VVD has never reached the playing levels Terry or Rio got to.
February 16, 20251 yr Not sure if this ever got posted on here ? It's from 9 months ago. I'm a bit meh when it comes to Simon Jordan, but this is well worth a listen, and especially so for what JT says about how the standards at the club took a quantum leap when Roman took over. BlueCo take note please !!!!

May 14, 20251 yr He need to crack on becoming a manager, maybe he could have a crack at Strasbourg job one day?I’m still disappointed Frank Lampard didn’t take on John Terry as his assistant while here, that would have been glorious.

He left Villa to pursue management opportunities but then never progressed. Obviously opportunities are hard to come by but you would think he would have enough contacts in the game. Frank got a helping hand by unlace Harry. I just wonder whether JT’s reputation went against him?

I would imagine once his kids get older he'll try and step into management.

Terry was considering an offer from Leiceister (which he took anyway). In the same interview Lampard praises Terry for his work in the dressing room but isn't sure how he would go as a #2. He thinks Terry should be out there managing himself. Also another interesting tidbit from the interview was Lampard saying he had to work hard on his long passing, because of the different standards in quality between West Ham and Chelsea. He said he felt embarassed at first because guys like Jody Morris, John Terry and Eidur Gudjohnsen were able to ping a 60-yard pass with either foot, whereas he could barely do that with his right! He talks about the mentoring they had from Desailly and co and then both he and Mikel pointed out the lack of that knowledge transfer in the current Chelsea setup. May 23, 20251 yr I absolutely loved watching these two play together, I really feel like Ivanovic doesn’t get enough appreciation. IMO he was one of the best right backs we’ve ever had. He was just… sheer power.
