April 16, 201511 yr Author Water is wet, Fabio. In fairness to Capello he has always been one of JT's biggest defenders. The fact that he effectively told the FA to f**k off over the whole stripping of the captaincy etc I think speaks volumes about the level of meddling and bending to public/media pressure they had when taking action.
April 16, 201511 yr Capello says Terry is "one of the best": http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/apr/16/fabio-capello-john-terry-england-anton-ferdinand-sack-chelsea-qpr That article implies the court case was brought because Ferdinand alleged he had been abused, which wasn't the case, the court case came about because of the CPS. They also edit Terry's apology at the end of that article, making it look like an admission of guilt to the charge, which it certainly was not.

To be honest I didn't really read it properly; I initially saw the story on BBC and used the Guardian's version because it featured the full quote from Capello.
April 26, 201511 yr Carragher is on board: http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9825108/john-terry-is-the-best-centre-back-in-premier-league-history-jamie-carragher Fair play to him, I always thought he was underrated and a top Centre back. He is calling it exactly how most of us see it with JT. He has been our Maldini, he could have been England's had the media not hounded him out of the team.

And Hodgson too. Both backed JT when it would have been a lot easier for them to turf him out and make Ferdinand or Gerrard captain.
April 26, 201511 yr Author I'm not sure I've ever seen a player who uses his 'weak' foot as often as Terry does. If I'd only just started watching him, I imagine I genuinely wouldn't know which was his natural foot. JT put a video up on his instagram playing golf and he plays left handed. I think he must be ambidextrous. Or super human. Maybe both.
April 26, 201511 yr Forget best centre half chelsea have ever had, his longevity makes me think he's England's best centre half of modern era

April 27, 201511 yr England still missing this leader, the duo Cahill and Terry can give them a lot. What a player!
April 27, 201511 yr Let's all take a moment to remember that Rafa Benitez considered David Luiz to be a better defender than John Terry.
April 27, 201511 yr Let's all take a moment to remember that Rafa Benitez considered David Luiz to be a better defender than John Terry. Guy clearly holds personal grudges. JT has basically proved him to be a clueless moron since Benitez was shuffled out the door 2 seasons ago. As ever JT has the last laugh.
April 27, 201511 yr Author We are definitely not boring and if we do go on to win it, nobody’s going to remember the performances when perhaps it’s not been that exciting,” said Terry. “We've dug deep and other teams haven’t, and that is why they are so far behind us. Possession is great. We could see that from the Manchester United game last week. Possession and tippy-tappy football’s great, but if you are not winning games you’re not going to win the league.”

April 27, 201511 yr Maybe one of the most underrated players of all time, In my life time the best defenders I have seen excluding JT, in no particular order. Desalliy Maldini Sammer Gallas Canavaro and a controversial one in Tony Adams Terry fits in to that list very easily and quite possibly tops it. Imagine if he'd been blessed with any kind of pace. As it is the fact that people have constantly named players like Pique in the "better the JT debate" does him a huge discredit. Without a doubt our best ever player and I have no idea how we replace him when he hangs them up. You get the feeling this title means more to him then the rest, he must have one point wandered if he would ever win one again, back when the fat one used him sparingly. (Another reason to hate the fat one)
April 27, 201511 yr Along with Maldini he is the best I have ever seen. He 100% the greatest centre back of the EPL era.
April 27, 201511 yr JT should have won player of the year imo. Nobody in the league has been as consistent as he has.
April 27, 201511 yr JT should have won player of the year imo. Nobody in the league has been as consistent as he has. Should have been in the nominations IMO, he's judged on off the pitch actions of years gone by which is a farce. Eden I feel deserved it though, he has single handidly at times won us games...as has JT arguably with his defending too.
April 27, 201511 yr I have been happily proved wrong by JT form this season Just shows what I know about football !

(Another reason to hate the fat one) Not controversial for me mate. Remember seeing him play once and realising what an excellent reader of the game he was. Just cut out everything at the front post with the minimum of fuss - much like JT. JT is as good as ever and seems to have matured as well. Invaluable.
