April 20, 201412 yr Is anyone else getting very frustrated with him? Yes.. he scored a superb goal in Barca to help us get through to the Final in Munich but no player should just stay in a team for one thing they've ever done! I'm not saying he hasn't done other good things for the club because he has but of late he has become a liability. Simple as that. Watched him closely yesterday... His touch to get past players is superb I won't deny it. But when he gets to the edge of the opposition area, he looks utterly clueless. Too many times he got in that position, ran out of ideas and played a hopeful ball into the area of which none were of high quality. That's not good enough. Also his discipline has really annoyed me. Firstly his lash out yesterday. No need for it at all. It's really pointless and stupid. I know we lost in the end but if he gets sent off there he does the side no favours at all. His stamp at Villa was disgusting. Really really bad. The way he always goes down easily at every given opportunity has wound me up of late too! We booed when Drogba did it and he cut it out... Ramires needs to learn to do the same. I'm not saying he hasn't done a job for us in past seasons because he has. But of late he has become a liability and his discipline has potential to let the club down. Mourinho either needs to have a serious chat with him or sell him on imo. Matic needs a good solid partner in that centre of midfield if we're to challenge next season and it's an area that needs working on.
April 20, 201412 yr I have been saying it for a long time now, he isn't good enough, it's as simple as that really.
April 20, 201412 yr He is the 3rd best athlete in football but he isn't good enough to start for Chelsea on a regular basis. Yes, we do need someone else to partner Matic. Edited April 20, 201412 yr by MANoWAR
April 20, 201412 yr I am pretty annoyed with him to be honest. Whenever he plays and gets the ball, the ball either goes backwards or gets lost when it goes forward. Not sure how someone who plays at the highest level has such poor technical ability. I reckon most of our other defenders even have a better first touch or pass than him. He also seems to fall down so easily like the pitch is made of ice. His style is very much suitable to a team who seats back the majority of the time and he just waits for the right moment to burst forward. Other than having exceptional stamina, I really see no place for him in this team.
April 20, 201412 yr He's become a liability and he's also starting to bear the brunt of the crowds frustration now, noticed that yesterday for the first time. Be surprised if he plays as much next season, Jose must be tearing his hair out at how much he losses possession. I know I am.
April 20, 201412 yr I think he's a good option to have on the bench, if we go a goal up and we force the other team to come out at us, Ramires is a very useful player. But to start him in a game like the one yesterday was puzzling when we had Luiz and Lampard both sitting on the bench. One thing he does help with is pressing the ball up the field and winning it back earlier, which is why the likes of Willian and Oscar are in the team, but while they're providing a lot of energy we rarely seem to actually win it back high up the field.
April 20, 201412 yr He would be amazing for us in a 4-3-3 but he doesn't suit playing the deeper role. Same goes for Frank. Square pegs in round holes
April 20, 201412 yr Should be sold immediately completely usless player nowdays can't pass, picks needless red cards. God.
April 20, 201412 yr I wanted him gone after that horror tackle in the super cup final. He's a liability. Loved he's goal v Barca but I'd sell him in a heartbeat
April 20, 201412 yr He would be amazing for us in a 4-3-3 but he doesn't suit playing the deeper role. Same goes for Frank. Square pegs in round holes The system we play is pretty identical to a 4-3-3 especially against teams who sit deep. Dont think he's good enough, for me he looks like a typical brazilian right back, that has spent a career out of possession.
April 20, 201412 yr Agree with most of the comments here. He's not good enough to be a regular starter, but his energy levels alone make him a good candidate for a super-sub. He isn't skillful enough to start against the bigger teams, but I don't mind seeing him against the smaller ones. The problem I have is that I'd rather see Matic/Luiz, Luiz/Lamps or Lamps/Matic in that area of the field over him any day.
April 20, 201412 yr Great engine but cannot pass or create and has a real nasty streak in him that has and could us points. A player to use on the counter or to bring on against tired legs but not to break teams down. He should not be a regular starter IMO.
April 20, 201412 yr The cause of so many problems. A nasty vindictive streak in him that will cause officials to look close at him next season. I would sell him at the tip of a hat. Great engine granted, but that happens with motors and the road handling is dodgy. Forever grateful for the goal in Barca' but his time at Chelsea should be over. Believe his contract expires early August too and no mention of renewal in media circles, strange ? Edited April 20, 201412 yr by DawesRoad
April 20, 201412 yr I have been one of his biggest supporters since he joined, especially in our CL winning run but this season his performances have been sub par to say the least. His discipline has been an issue and I worry whenever I see him playing for us. Agree with the majority that his athleticism as a sub can really help stretch teams in the later part of a match when energy levels are down but he's nowhere near a starter now.
April 20, 201412 yr Until the 2nd half of this season I still believed his positives outweighed his negatives. Now its the reverse unfortunately. But I think selling him would still be a mistake, we need a full pre season under Jose and see where ramiress position in the squad is before we just give up on him. As for his malicious side, I think most of it is overplayed a bit, the only really nasty thing he has done was that terrible foul against villa. Yesterday was a little dig in the chops against a side that were booting us up and down the pitch, I was wanting our players to battle back and give as good as they got. I'm sick of seeing our side bullied out of games. Edited April 20, 201412 yr by dkw
April 20, 201412 yr Didn't realise his contract was up this summer. Why haven't we posted out an extension rather than lose him on a free?
April 20, 201412 yr He has had a poor season by the standards he has shown. Not enough to off him just because we as a collective have made a balls of it.
April 20, 201412 yr His energy is superb, but he does have major flaws: 1) He loses the ball when he blasts forward all the time, which always breaks down our attacks putting pressure on our defenders 2) His passing most of the time is terrible
April 20, 201412 yr Didn't realise his contract was up this summer. Why haven't we posted out an extension rather than lose him on a free?dont think it isedit just googled it and its not up til 2017. Id sell in the summer. Edited April 20, 201412 yr by big blue
April 20, 201412 yr We got to get rid of him now, all the oppo managers will know by now that if Ramires is playing, they will instruct their players to niggle away at him and provoke a reaction, he's a liability, I would rather see David Luiz in his position, he has no nasty streak, and he's a much better footballer with the ball at his feet than Ramires.
April 20, 201412 yr He's turned into a right prick... He always had a slightly nasty streak, where every so often he'd do something naughty. Nowadays it seems like every game he's doing something dickish. Sure, he's not biting people, but he does some totally unnecessary things. On a footballing perspective...he's a solid player who can offer something in most games...but having a playmaker next to Matic would be preferable. Edit: Oh and Coco...Luiz has something of a nasty streak too. Not as much as Ramires, but Luiz is susceptible to brain snaps, in the form of rash challenges or swinging arms. But I would certainly have him in the team ahead of Ramires. Edited April 20, 201412 yr by Cam
April 20, 201412 yr I agree with most of the posts on this thread, the novelty of picking him because he is fast and has high energy levels has long worn off for me. He is a liability and his passing is shocking - to compete at the top level we need a good player with a football brain next to Matic in the middle of the park. I'd be ok with selling him this summer, or if he stays, then for me he is a sub that comes on late in the match when the game is stretched. Edited April 20, 201412 yr by 2211
April 20, 201412 yr dont think it is edit just googled it and its not up til 2017. Id sell in the summer. Cheers Big Blue
April 20, 201412 yr David Luiz has no nasty streak? come on, you must be joking. Luiz and Ramires are our two dirtiest players. Luiz blocks players off the ball, leaves a foot in etc.I would play Luiz over Ramires though, i agree with you there
