Ramires - anyone else frustrated?

Featured Replies

If Ramires is our most nasty player then I'm glad we're signing Costa...

Amen, I presume those who hate ramires for his nasty streak also hated Dennis wise, makalele, jt etc.

Whether or not I like Ramires, or any of the players you mentioned is irrelevant (I like just about everyone who plays for Chelsea). If their petulant behaviour is to the detriment of the team, it becomes an issue.

Ramries could be the nicest guy in the world off the field, I don't know...What I do know is he doesn't need to leave studs in on every other tackle, nor does he need to hit someone in the face because they held him back a little. It all serves to build a bad reputation (for which he will suffer later), and be suspended for games the club would rather have him in the team for.

It's just unnecessary.

Watched him closely yesterday... His touch to get past players is superb I won't deny it.

lol no. His touch and passing ability is the worst I've ever seen on any Brazilian player ever. His touch is dreadful but he's so quick that he can recover faster than the other player can react.

So you would rather we just take our kicking like good little church goers? We were getting booted all over, I'm glad we give it back. The punch was stupid but there players were studs in, leaving boots in etc all game. I'm sick of us just lying down and taking it like last season.

He hasn't been able to pass the ball since he joined but his energy has been very useful to us. Unfortunately now we have our wingers doing much more of a job 'legs' isn't really what we need. We're crying out for some quality on the ball, someone who can pick a pass and pick holes in the opposition, not a Ramires. I'd sell him but Mourinho won't

We got to get rid of him now, all the oppo managers will know by now that if Ramires is playing, they will instruct their players to niggle away at him and provoke a reaction, he's a liability, I would rather see David Luiz in his position, he has no nasty streak, and he's a much better footballer with the ball at his feet than Ramires.

I agree with you (and all the previous comments) about Ramires and that it's time to sell.

I am also a big fan of Luiz and would like to see him play in the defensive midfield role on a regular basis. However, I'm not convinced that he too doesn't have a nasty streak!

There's a thin line between constructive nuisance making and aggressive stupidity.

Ramires has started to cross that line...and it'll be to the detriment of himself and the team as his reputation gets gradually worse.

Agree with many of those posting. He is a liability, his nice touches and work rate aren't enough for me, he's a petulant child when things aren't going his way.

He cannot shoot to save his life, when he's on the edge of the box preparing to shoot my head falls into my hands.

That's a fair point Cam, there is definitely a difference between the kind of cheeky rule-bending Maka (usually before shrugging at the referee and grinning) used to engage in to the team's benefit and Ramires' back-handed slap from yesterday which was entirely personal and had no potential to gain anything for the team.

I do think we have become a little oversensitive to criticism though (I am definitely also guilty of that) and expect perfection in our behaviour in order to avoid it. It doesn't really matter, a club as high-profile and frequently controversial as Chelsea is always going to attract stick regardless of how well we play or conduct ourselves; I think we need to be more forgiving of our own because that forgiveness certainly will not come from the outside and we don't want to become paralyzed by in-fighting. I think Chopper Harris would have criticized him for not hitting the bar steward harder!

People always say he can't pass, yet he has a higher pass accuracy than Lampard, Luiz, Hazard, Oscar and is on level with Matic. I really don't understand.

Also this is his 4th year at the club and the first real time he has had a major dip in form, the abuse and criticism he has gotten this year is just absurd. People seem to forget he was great in the first half of the season. I really don't see how Oscar has been any better than Ramires in 2014 for example, but hey each to there own.

All those players are passing with more risk. Ramires will play a ton of 5 yard passes but as soon as he passes forward with more risk it goes wrong.

Stats like this are completely meaningless and i don't understand why they get used to describe how good someone is at something.

The nasty streak is not what I dislike. I actually think that its healthy for some players to have a nasty streak. Everybody has one, but its how you use it that counts. David Luiz against PSG when he did the quick free kick at Cavani, getting Cavani booked in the process.

THAT is a nasty streak but used correctly.

Ramires hasn't got much intelligence when it comes to utilising his nasty streak in a clever way like some players do. But with that said, I think Ramires should go. He will never improve and I hate that nasty horrible gut feeling I get when I see him start a game.

I say sell him to the highest bidder.

Quite right. Mikel, as another example, has a great pass completion rate but he could never do what the likes of Lampard, Matic and Luiz do.

Think he's gone backwards as a player...offering very little going forward and his passing is terrible...used to offer us a goal threat from midfield with those surging runs, but doesn't make them any more for some reason...the red cards just make him even more of a liability...wouldn't mind if we sold him either...that goal in the nou camp seems a long time ago now

He's having a poor season and is badly out of form however i still think he is a very good player. I have said it many times on here that he is suited more to a 3 man midfield and also every team/squad needs a player like Ramires. For me this is his only bad season, he was good under Carlo, great under AVB and RDM and decent under Rafa. I think Mourinho likes him (tried to buy him at Madrid i think)  so i don't think he will get sold.

I've been one of his biggest fans and I'll forgive quite a few of his negatives because his positives far outweighed them IMO. Now he just seems a completely liability with his ball losing & temper. He's still a better option than Mikel but we do need a too CM to partner Matic/MvG in the long run. Alas, I don't think we'll be strengthening that area in the Summer at all. We've also got Romeu to think about but we need a similar player to Lamps.

Oh Rambo :(

Romeu apparently wants to stay at Valencia so we can expect a bit of cash there. Mikel will probably end up in Italy or Turkey. I think a new CM will only hinge on whether Frank stays or not

I've heard a few people say he would be better in a 3, but the system we play isnt that different for him, especially when he's paired with matic.

I think we keep the ball better this season and more ramires has the ball the more his technique and passing comes into question.

The incidents against villa and sunderland weren't he actions of a 'midfield hardman' if anything, they were coward like.

He said he wouldn't mind staying at Valencia if he had no future here. I think it'll be a shame to let him go personally.

Especially in the midfield with his stamina, running and determination to win duels he was great. In the third half of the pitch he shot a bit hastily a few times. Liked his performance today though and a fit Ramires is always good to have in the squad.

Wish he played more, but it's hard to play ahead of Fabregas or Matic. Expect to see him play more minutes as we go deeper into the second half of the season though.
