November 2, 201411 yr Alan Shearer is one of the best headers of a ball Ive ever seen, made even more impressive by the fact he`s under 6 foot. The power he could generate was frightening. Shearer is a good shout. He really attacked the ball. Pity that traditional number 9 type isn't as popular these days, although costa is in that mold. There's something very satisfying seeing a header getting thumped in at the back post!
November 2, 201411 yr Bierhoff is a good call but Drogba was\is still superior to him IMO because his movement both towards and away from the ball was better. The amount of ground Drogba sometimes covers to actually reach where the ball is going, let alone timing the jump, is unreal. It's one thing leaping for a ball from a standing start, but anticipating it falling a certain distance away and reaching that point through a crowd of bodies and ahead of your marker is another thing altogether. Drogba's timing and athleticism in doing that so successfully for so long makes him easily the best ever in my book. The header in the final against Munich was a great example and the power and pinpoint direction he got on the ball amazing. Bayern could have had four keepers in the goal and they still wouldn't have kept it out.

Add the importance of the goal too. IMHO it was DD's finest moment at CFC. Even better than his PK. There is only one Dider Drogba
November 2, 201411 yr Best header Drogba scored was against Arsenal in the League Cup final. Edited November 2, 201411 yr by Bobbywoodhogan
November 2, 201411 yr Best header Drogba scored was against Arsenal in the League Cup final To each their own. For me, May 19th, 2012. A day I will never ever forget!!!
November 2, 201411 yr To each their own. For me, May 19th, 2012. A day I will never ever forget!!! That one was more important but I'm talking the best as in the quality of it. The one against Munich was superb but the one against Arsenal was technically better.
November 2, 201411 yr That one was more important but I'm talking the best as in the quality of it. The one against Munich was superb but the one against Arsenal was technically better. DD always scores vs le arse, but there was only one UCL Final in Munich. The occassion was much bigger too. Like what Martin Tyler said, "The Big Man for the Big Occasion". This discussion from me & you is like discussing what Pink Floyd album was better, Dark Side of the Moon or The Wall? Both are epic, but The Wall is bigger. You can keep your DD goal & I will keep mine. You can't change my mind on this. For me, DD's header in Munich was his finiest moment as a Blue. Edited November 2, 201411 yr by robdog
November 2, 201411 yr The header Drogba thundered past Oliver Khan from Joe Cole's cross in Bayern's old Olympic Stadion ground in 2005 was also a stunner.

November 2, 201411 yr Loved his header against Napoli in 2012. He had to get in front of the defender, dive to the correct height, manouver his head so he could hit the ball up from under, direct it & put power on it. It was, and still is, the absolute schizzle. Masterclass.
November 3, 201411 yr In terms of being able to have the ability to score powerful headers consistently, Drogba is the best I've ever seen! It still amazes me
November 7, 201411 yr Interesting fact I noticed when I was looking at the CL all time top scorers in light of Messi/Ronaldo closing in on the record. Drogba has a better goals/game ratio in the CL than Henry, Ibrahimovic, Eto'o, Crespo and Rivaldo, and the same as Sheva. He's also the 10th highest scorer in CL/European Cup history, 3 behind Eusebio and Inzaghi but ahead of Benzema, Ibra, Puskas and Muller.

November 22, 201411 yr So glad the Drog is back. Disgusted at seeing how some Chelsea fans were complaining about ruining his legacy blah blah blah!! The offers more than just field related activity. He is just as important off it. Teaching our younger players how to be leaders and born winners. I love DD to death! Amazing man and player. Absolute legend m!!
November 26, 201411 yr Didier Drogba believes the current Chelsea team boast greater attacking threat than the sides who claimed the Premier League and Champions League during his first spell at the London club, but they must now fulfil their potential and go on to secure silverware this term. The veteran forward replaced Diego Costa late on in Gelsenkirchen on Tuesday night and scored his 50th European goal as the visitors ran riot against Schalke to secure passage into the knockout stage of the Champions League. The 5-0 success equalled Chelsea’s best ever away win in the competition and, illuminated by the passing and movement of Cesc Fàbregas, Willian, Oscar and Eden Hazard, provided further evidence that this side are flourishing as a unit. “I think Chelsea have the chance to say we had great teams in terms of spirit [in the past], a machine in terms of hard work and efficiency,” said Drogba, whose initial eight-year spell at the club had yielded two league titles and the European Cup. “This one is efficient too, but with the attacking players, the passing rate and quality of passing is higher. We have more creative players, which makes it maybe better to look at. Either way, the most important thing is to win titles, so this team will only be good if it wins titles and big trophies. Then we will be able to compare it with previous sides.”
November 26, 201411 yr He's been better then I feared he would be after his first few games this season. Clearly much sharper now and can do a pretty good job when needed. Have to say I'm glad he's back at the club, what a legend.
November 26, 201411 yr I thought he did well when he came on last night. He scored his 50th CL goal also. The first African player to do so.
November 26, 201411 yr I feared for his second coming after his first few games, but I'm so glad to see it was just rust. He's gotten better and better. Can't get a much better impact sub than him.
November 26, 201411 yr Incredible how many goals didier has in the CL considering Messi has 74, with the latter starting his career about 10 years earlier than Drogs too.
November 26, 201411 yr I don't know about you, but I've grown tired of the Messi love-in Breaking records every season.... But hard not to throw so much admiration his way really. As for the Drog... Surprise success story of the season, if only as far as Chelsea are concerned?
