January 14, 20206 yr For me he is the perfect YouTube player.. has skill but not the mentality to be a top player.. this shows how important the mental side of the game is ..

None of them are stronger or taller as was mentioned above as a reason to write him off. They're faster and positionally astute. What makes you think Musonda is better or even a top 3 PL level player?
January 14, 20206 yr Has most of the characteristics that you want in a player but I feel like his physique and attitude will hold him back from getting into our team in the long run. I reckon he'll have a very succesful career in a league outside the UK where it is less physical and referees are a bit more strict.

Positioning is also coached into a player, just look at Sterling before Pep as a prime example. I don't think Musonda is a top 3 PL player at all, quote the opposite. Just think its absurd to say the reason a player won't make it is because he is small and weak when plenty of top players, with similar characteristics to Charly, have proved otherwise.
January 14, 20206 yr If you reduced every player in the league to 3/4 (size, speed, strength, etc) and kept Musonda the same - he'd stand out. As it is, each new game for him is like someone on FIFA suddenly attempting to play Legendary Mode after only previously flitting between Amateur and Semi Pro. I honestly struggle to see him carving out a top flight career in a major league and he'd dissappear in the Championship. He screams MLS and that sort of level will be a great showcase for his talent.

The smaller ones make it because they accepted that they are smaller and weaker so they sharpened their strengths in other areas like pace, vision, being coachable and being creative. Sterling was small and weak but he outsped almost every defender in the Prem. Musonda plays like he's Ronaldo when he can't outrun defenders, can't outmuscle them and can't even outjump them. He's still playing like he's in the youth league. What I'm trying to say is his style of play doesn't work with his body especially in the PL.

A good manager might be able to make something of him by playing him in a different position. I wondered for example if he could play in defensive midfield in a Jorginho-type role as he seems skilful.

However he has put on a lot of muscle and is quite well built and unlike some players who put on muscle mass, Sterling has not lost his rapid speed/acceleration.
October 8, 20205 yr I had no idea he was so serously injured. Hopefully he can come back to have a decent career.
October 8, 20205 yr Awful when injury wrecks a young player's career. I really hope he can have a successful comeback. I remember him being in tears when he scored for us a few years ago, and I remember his phenomenal assist to set up Moses in a midweek cup match.

I just wonder what level he will be at when he is ready to return for competitive action. I think the game you are speaking about when he assisted Moses was our PL game with Brighton and we beat them 4-0 at their ground and he made a wonderful assist right at the end of the game. A real shame as you can see he had all the talents. We are generally good at supporting our players even with injuries. Look at Van Ginkel for instance. But hope he is able to play at a good level again, even if that is not at us.
October 9, 20205 yr What a shame. Hope he comes back stronger but sadly, his frame and build is not suited to the EPL.

December 27, 20205 yr Now that he’s back with us and ready to train with us do you think he should get a shot at the first team squad.he’s bulked up a bit,no longer the straw weight that he was.

No, guy hasn't played football for like 2 years. He might break down again considering the physio said he should retire because the injury was so bad.
December 27, 20205 yr Feel bad for him, but unfortunately his ship has sailed. Just another top youth prospect that has had his career ruined by injuries and poor loans
December 27, 20205 yr Even if he overcomes the injury problems he's still way too inexperienced, 4 years older than CHO and played half the amount of games at a lower level too.
May 1, 20215 yr Good interview here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56887060 Poor bugger has had a nightmare few years. Didn't know that story about his father.

Of all our talented youngsters in that team, he was the most exciting IMO. Please God he can recover well enough to make a career out of football. Especially poignant given his father's story.
