Whilst i may get crucified on here for questioning a legend of yours but why couldn't he set up some charities over here? In the land that fed him, It's kind of selfish and racist to set it up back home.

This is literally the dumbest thing I have ever read.

So Drogba is racist because he doesn't put millions into a UK Charity now? Are you seriously comparing the Ivory Coast to England?

Jesus Chris mate. Read back on what you said and tell me you honestly believe it.

I'm not accusing Drogba of being racist, I'm accusing the idea of setting up charities in your homeland, Having earned your corn elsewhere it's selfish and has a deep rooted racial thought behind it. Enigma said footballers should not be viewed as idols to which stim responded some footballers can be because they set up charities back home, To which i responded that in itself is a reason in which to not idolize footballers. Drogba should have set up some charities here if he is the saint he has convinced you all he is, But he is not alone, Toure is guilty of that, Zabaleta is guilty of that, All these foreign stars earn their corn here and then invest it back home. How can that sit right with English guys supporting an English club?

I did say i would get crucified but i stand with what i said, Obviously i'm going to probably need some lubrication as i continue to get fisted for a page or two on this issue.

I personally think it's ridiculous but, if you truly believe it, fair enough.

You don't seem to be baiting as I've seen you post before, so I think it's best to agree we all disagree with you.

Whilst poverty and other social ills here are undeniably terrible, I don't think the vast majority of us can imagine the horrific conditions of some places footballers are fortunate to escape from. Here at least we have some form of state safety net for those worst off and I have tremendous respect for those players such as Carrager who got out of Liverpool

The homeless person in London has the access to a lot more than a guy in the Ivory Coast may have.  Maybe not in a few years if the NHS gets privatized, but the general point still stands.

I see nothing wrong, at all, in someone taking their God given talents, and then taking their own money and giving it back to help the people less fortunate where they came from.

Nothing racist in that whatsoever. Has someone in Nigeria seriously ever looked at an English player giving money to and English charity and lambasted them saying "you should have given it to us!"

Saw this on twitter: How many Liverpool fans does it take to change a lightbulb? None, they don't change it, just sit around talking about how good the old one was.

Haha, that's a good one.

Since when did making a personal decision about charitable contribution to country X or country Y become a potential issue of racism? The Ivory Coast and Britain aren't races. If Drogba built a hospital in Kent which was only for the use of black kids then an accusation of racism would have merit. But that isn't the case. If anyone goes anywhere in the world and either makes good money or acquires influence then uses it for the good of anyone, anywhere in the world, then all credit to them. Whether you help Johnny in Brixton, Michaela in Napoli or Maitonga in a remote pacific island is irrelevant. Aid is not judged by geographic boundaries, it is needed by people of every race and colour worldwide. Credit to anyone who does anything whether it be for their neighbour or a stranger in a far away land

I was wrong, your not an idiot. Your a complete f**king idiot.

Very good constructive argument, well done.

The story of the Mackay texts is pretty shocking. Maybe Tan isn't crazy after all (or at least as crazy anyway)

Think that correctly sums up the argument! I know me personally would give huge amounts of cash to a charity regardless of race and/or ethnicity. In the US more white people are on welfare than any other race. And the conservative side is actually trying to reduce that amount while said white people vote for the conservative party. Go figure! Bottom line green (as in US color of money) has no preference to wear it goes depending on what charity one gives it to. Rest aside, my broke ass with one child and another in the plans (@$245k per kid to raise until 18 and not including college tuition) will be extremely sparingly in any money I give. However, if I ever came into copious amounts of cash I would truly give most of it away. While spending $38M on a '69 Ferrari GTO sounds appealing, I would have very many difficult nights to sleep knowing that the money could have been used in such a far better way on humanity. And I could have used those contributions to write of my gains in trading derivatives all year. Win win for everyone!

The reward in being wealthy is dispersing out your wealth to help other people who are less fortunate. Case closed said the poor guy who lives on a modest salary!

If you honestly think being poor in Western Europe (or North America) is the same as being poor in most parts of Africa (amongst other places), then you better thank what ever God you believe in for allowing you to live in such blissful ignorance.  What we view as destitute bottom of the barrel living is a dream of luxury for most Africans living in poverty and probably not too far from the average lifestyle in many areas.  And we haven't even yet discussed the African countries that have been ravaged by near constant war for decades.

That being said, anyone doing anything to help others anywhere in the world, should be appreciated and not needlessly criticised.  If we want to start castigating people, lets start with those doing nothing.

and that they changed the light bulb "five times" before
