Ruben Loftus-Cheek

what i don't get is the amount of hype musonda gets and he cannot get anywhere near the first team. pretty sure musonda was being compared to the best belgian players currently, or maybe that was just from delusional belgian football fans, but he is obviously a talent. why can he not get on the bench for the cup games at least?

I am no specialist and haven't watched him indepth, but I watched 2 youth games in which he featured and he didn't really impress in either. I mean he was certainly one of the better players, but not in a league above the rest like Cheek for example. And Cheek struggles to get into our first team, so I can't see Musonda breaking through. Besides he's tiny, and if we're worried about some spaniard physically matured men not coping with the demands of the league, then it will apply even moreso to him at this age.

Hoping for all the best for the kid though.

In regards to RLC, I think the thought process is that being about 6,4 gives him an advantage that can't be taught and can to an extent compensate for a lack of technical skill in comparison to Musonda/Baker and the others although I say that having seen very little of all of them. We already have a number of technical playmakers in the first team anyway, whereas we lack a physical presence going forwards which hopefully he can provide. If he's going to start then I hope to see him playing box to box in a 433, with Fabregas and Mikel/Matic depending on form.

He is very very slight. It might be a case of the club trying to protect him physically. He's never going to be to biggest physically, but he could do with filling out a bit. He isnt far off now, compared to how he was 18 months ago.

What they have just mentioned on SS during the U21's games is that we are expecting him to be heading out on loan in the coming weeks to aid his development and gain some vital senior experience before we throw him in at our deep end.

Hopefully he can develop like Boga has been out in France who has slowly forced his way into the team and is now close to being a regular for Rennes with 3 goals for the club looks to have bulked out a little too which seems to have helped.

Very much spot on BB. I couldn't have said it better.

Took his goal really well.

He didn't do that much though bar the goal but he done the most important thing so its hard to criticise him.

Would rather he played instead of Ramires/Mikel

John Obi Pirlo deserves to start against WBA after his performance at Palace

He will make it here.

I loved the first minute of him coming on where he picked up the ball and ghosted past three players like they weren't even there, very Yaya Toure from 13/14 esque in that particular moment.

Was quiet apart from that and the goal but well done Ruben!

I would most certainly say he has a chance but I can't say I'm overconfident.

I was very impressed at his interview on Sky Sports this morning - I thought he conducted himself extremely well and raised some interesting points about self expression being a key element of his game.

My concerns come with him as a CM in a 4231, a young player becoming a CM in this formation has to either have outstanding agility/balance or positional awareness much beyond his years (see Neves at Porto who's understanding of the game for a 18 y/o is freakishly good as was Fabregas's at Arsenal). From what i've seen of RLC neither of these characteristics come to mind so I think a CAM role might be his best bet for his outstanding attributes, I certainly think he is better than Barkley

After coming off the bench scoring in the league cup which turned out to be a crucial goal, he didn't get a look in since.. if mikel, ramires, cesc, matic, oscar are all ahead of him even in a league cup then what's the point of keeping him?? just loan him out already..  it's wasting everybody's time..

Watching Delle Alli score that goal yesterday, he miles ahead of RLC. Not because of talent but experience.

If RLC got the same opportunities as delle ali ,he would be streets ahead of him imo

Because I'm thick. Just out of interest I'm curious how can I be great like you ?

There's nothing wrong with being corrected. If I continuously make the same mistake and somebody points it out to me, it certainly wouldn't disappoint me.

Maybe - depends on personnel to be honest.

I like the u21's midfield of RLC, Alli and Ward-Prowse. RLC stands out. If we signed someone in the ilk of Matuidi and had a midfield of RLC, Matuidi and Fabregas I think RLC would most likely make an impact - lets see what the new manager does

And Harry Kane as well, sad to say but if RLC was at any club like Spurs/Pool and below, he might already have established himself as a starter and be given chances in the senior England team too.

Yep, and same can be said of a few before him, particularly Chalobah. Some of that comes down to the advantage of not having the expectation of competing to win PL and CL season after season, but it still takes a bit of bravery from the coach and the club to give these players games ahead of established names, something we never seem to be able to do, even now where we have no chance of competing for PL this season and have the ideal chance to play some of these youngsters so they will be more ready when we need to call on them in the future.

In the summer I hope the club changes it's philosophy and appoints the coach who can finally help to implement this.
