November 7, 20223 yr His good performances under Sarri were also against Europa league standard opposition and bottom half clubs. Swear we are the worst at overrating our players.

Swear we are the worst at overrating our players. He was too much bulky and tall in order to become a real winger, not enough skilled as an AM player either. Just a couple of vintage matches where he managed to do well, mainly due to our standard options being either injured or simply inconsistent which resulted in him staying as our player, if not for the lack of transfer and injuries mixed with the failed signings such as Saul, RLC would have been sold a long time ago.

No matter how you look at this, Mount is much ahead both in end product and in work rate. On top of that, tactically under Tuchel Mount was one of the most important players due to his pressing which nobody does better than him, RLC has never had a single thing that he does that is better than, or comparable to our best players. Also even if we ignore all of that, scoring in the CL against Real Madrid is a level above scoring against Frankfurt in the Europa League. Edited November 8, 20223 yr by Gol15
November 8, 20223 yr Think he is a good squad player who has some useful versatility in him and is good enough to start every once in a while when the main team is stable and performing well. But as the main figure in a midfield of two? No way. But that is not really his fault either.

Remember when they deluded themselves into thinking Kagawa was a better signing than Hazard?
November 9, 20223 yr Let's break down what Ruben offers. 0 goal threat. You measure his goals in seasons per goal not goals per season. 0 creativity, statistically one of the least creative midfielders in premier league history, no one gets chances when Ruben plays. He holds the ball until the space and the chances have gone then either turns around and plays a 5 yard pass or loses the ball because he can't pass or dribble anyway. Has 8 career assists. 0 work rate, consistently the laziest player on the pitch, Paul Pogba feels embarrassed watching how slowly Ruben jogs back when the opposition break. 0 defensive awareness, he doesn't track runners, players run off him, walk past him, stand still where he should be as he ambles back slowly from his foray forward (not because he showed any real skill but because the opposition let him walk forward 30 yards knowing he'd do nothing with the ball and take 2 minutes 12 seconds to get back into position) 0 intelligence - watch him play. Have we ever controlled a game with Ruben playing? Playing Ruben in midfield is giving up the midfield battle. No real dribbling ability he's deceptive with this one, but do you ever wonder why no chances ever come from Rubens Dribbling? Ruben slowly evading a half hearted challenge from the oppositions attacking midfielder and them dropping 30 yards to lure him out of position isn't him driving the ball forward, when has Ruben ever actually created a chance with his dribbling? Compare that to the number of chances we concede because Ruben goes forward and takes 2 business days to get back when the attack breaks down. he's tall, he's from Cobham, he's good looking and we've got enough midgets in midfield people like to pretend he offers some physicality despite him losing every midfield battle due to sheer laziness but if he didn't come from our academy and instead came through at Coventry do you really think any premier league club would ever consider signing him as squad depth? His biggest achievement as a Chelsea player is almost single handedly relegating Fulham by managing 0 assists in over 2500 minutes playing behind Mitrovic and having no defensive responsibility in a 4-2-3-1. Fulham fans regard him as the worst player in their history and none of them thought he would be good enough for them in the championship. How a player can be indisputably the worst player in the league on loan at a relegated side and come back and statt games for us is symbolic of how we've declined as a club. To be fair he's had some decent performances under Tuchel and Sarri. Nowhere near good enough to be a starter though, a backup option at best, and even then that should be given to Carney or someone with potential. We desperately need an elite midfielder like Frenkie De Jong thoough, especially if we continue to play with a 2 man midfield.
November 10, 20223 yr Was never a good footballer myself as a kid. Didn't know any better and tried to impress too much above my limitation. Closing anyone down, trying to dribble past anyone. Just playing at an intensity that is above my capability, burning myself out and not being good for the team. If I knew then what I knew now i would be like RLC and actually be of value to the team at grassroots level. Conserve my energy, stroll around, hide from the responsibility of receiving the ball and make simple 5 yard passes for someone else to deal with when I do receive it.

His dribbling is pretty good, problem is he always takes one touch too many and squanders chances. This is part of the reason he shouldn't be part of a midfield 2. He's just not good enough for that. He should be playing further forward, Sarri had the right idea no idea why he's been moved back. If you can't play him just behind the striker or even out wide then don't play him at all.
May 13, 20233 yr The perfect squad player. Never moans about game time and comes into the squad in a variety of positions and there’s not a drop in quality. Blows my mind people think we should be looking to sell in summer just to balance the books.
May 18, 20233 yr Fabrizio has said the first of our first team squad to leave is likely to be RLC. He has been allowed to talk with Milan and both him and the club's are in advanced talks. However Fabrizio did not say if it was a sale, a loan to buy or a straight loan. With 1 year left on his deal I would imagine it would have to be a sale. RLC open to the move and new experience. He has heard good things from Olly and Tomori

May 18, 20233 yr Happy for Ruben, big move. Hope he gets to finally be a regular. Seems to be split opinions on him here but he never complained, did his best and has for me been a very useful squad player over several seasons.

Nothing is signed yet. I don't agree he is one of the most difficult players to sell. To get a good fee for yes, to sell no, given he has one year left. Kepa is hard to sell, so is Cucurella, Koulibaly, Sterling, Lukaku. Sell those boys for decent money and then we can pat them on the back.

I thought he'd see out the remainder of his contract so I tip my hat to him for wanting a bigger role.
