For me it's telling that his managers pre Sarri didn't know what to do with him (or couldn't be bothered to invest the time coaching him) so seemed to be improvising as they went along. Jose tried to make him a DM, Conte tried him upfront and Roy tried him on LM. No-one was more delighted than me when it looked like I may have been getting proved wrong just before his injury but I was very concerned by how easily he was drifting out of games (there's multiple posts of mine from that era on here displaying that concern). https://footballdna.co.uk/features/ruben-loftus-cheek-england-debut/ This is an analysis about his debut v Germany, doesnt matter how poor the quality of the England squad was.

Both got the same injury, both never recovered. Hudson-Odoi used to frighten players when he ran at them, now I doubt he could out pace an aging Azpi.

June 30, 20233 yr Good luck to Ruben. He has been unlucky with injuries, but has always given 100% when playing for us and I can never remember hearing any complaints from his camp when he was struggling to get playing time. AC Milan could be a great move for him.
June 30, 20233 yr It's so degrading to judge a player on their looks, you should all be ashamed of yourselves and have some respect! Spoiler But I guess while we're here....

June 30, 20233 yr Another win win deal for me. Wish him nothing but the best in Milan - will be fun to watch him in that league. Always a nice character. As far as his time at Chelsea, he looked great under Sarri, but always seemed to play within himself after the injury. This will sound harsh, but it was pretty telling that he couldn't get in a relegated Fulham side and to me is part of the problem of a very underwhelming Chelsea midfield, even using RLC as a squad option. Good luck RLC, I'm sure we'll see you back at Cobham one day.
June 30, 20233 yr Never complained nor made a fuss. That useless f**king friendly when he was really finding his form...

We'll never know now if that was a genuine breakthrough or not.

July 1, 20233 yr 19 years in the club, our own Cobham boy! There is always been a hope that something could be big with him but the injures and stability in his perfromances made him for ups and downs... Always been a fan of him, thanks for everything RLC! Good luck at Milan!
July 1, 20233 yr I think so many people forget just how good he looked right before the Achilles injury. The goals and assists dried after after he returned from it, but he was still a very useful player that could fill in wherever needed. I will always be cheering on Ruben to have a good career, I truly think wearing the Chelsea shirt meant the world to him.
July 4, 20233 yr On the bright side we can finally retire the #12 shirt like we should have done six years ago.

Good luck to him, though.
August 12, 20232 yr Hat trick in the first half nevermind its a friendly Edited August 12, 20232 yr by DidierDrogbalala
August 13, 20232 yr First half hat trick. Who on here said he wasn't going to dominate in the slow Italian game? Class player.
August 27, 20232 yr RLC provided an assist for Pulisic in the 4-1 win over Torino. Pulisic has scored in both his AC Milan games. Gotta love Serie A. Dominic Solanke would look like Drogba out there.
