If we replace him with Lukaku, we are probably still going to trade for striker than is on it only 50% of the time, and is also a tiresome loud mouth. 

Sorry but he can claim all he wants he's the one who created the break down in jan. Tbh I'll be glad when he f**ks off, fed up with all the transfer drama around him every season.

He and others in the 15-16 season were an utter disgrace and maybe that's why I don't connect to these players as much.

Wow okay, that was quite the develpment over night.

Don't mind him going but this going public is going to hurt what we'll get for him. Sounds pretty brutal by Conte as well sending him a text he can f*ck off basically.

I am sure we have one striker nailed down now, can't imagine Conte would have told him that unless we had someone signed. I assume thats Lukaku.

But if Costa leaves you have to think we are going to get another one surely? Michy just yesterday said he can't tolerate another season on the bench and he isn't going to be a starter for us.

Costa is perfect for Chelsea, I wouldn't say his been our 'drogba' replacement but costa gives so much to our team, he is much more than just goals, he holds the ball up well, his aggressive, defenders are scared of him, that's exactly what drogba did! 

IF lukaku is costa's replacement then we are in big trouble, I hope conte has a good reason for this.... I hope he brings in morata and lukaku

Real Madrid have reportedly 'turned their attention away from Hazard to Mbappe', which suggests to me that we've declined to include Hazard in any negotiations for Morata. Fwiw I think Morata will join United.

You are probably right mate, but I ask the question if costa and Michy leave which is looking highly likely... who are we going to bring in to replace them? Lukaku and who?

Cheerio mate, he was quality at times but never had any loyalty towards the club and the situation in January proved it, he had his head turned and churned out sh*te performances for pretty much the rest of the season. 

Frankly I think we're being a bit harsh. In three seasons we've won the league twice and he has scored a hatful of goals. If he was told by text that is pretty ordinary and i understand the reaction. 

It hasn't always been a happy relationship but it has been a productive one. Hope we get a good fee and he goes well at his next club. 

costa has himself to blame. he downed tools and huffed & puffed for months after the chinese debacle. he looked disinterested and left conte in a difficult position. i am surprised conte even bothered to contact him tbh, he could have left it to someone else. we obviously don't know the other side of the story, so it's all speculation from costa at the moment.

he could go on loan, but if he wants spain then he still won't be happy there i doubt. he's just a handful and i wouldn't be surprised if he's bi-polar or has adhd or something, his attitude changes like the wind. 

Well Conte did say that he would have a "cold" look at things in the summer. 

In one way, it is a shame he's going as there aren't that many genuine high quality strikers out there. 

But then Costa has treated the club appallingly in Jan and it could derailed us winning the league. I'm sure Conte hasn't forgotten that. Credit to Conte for keeping it together and keeping Costa in some sort of form. 

If we get £50-60m for him then it's almost a straight swap for Costa for Lukaku.

I disagree. Drogba's shadow was twice the player Costa has ever been.

SSN also reporting Jorge Mendes is in talks with AC Milan now.

Hopefully we get a good deal. Fear we are going to sell him on the cheap though.

biggest myth in football. You'll be telling me Lukaku has a poor first touch next!

The real question is what we do with Bats?...does he go to Sevilla and we get Lukaku and Morata or does he stay? There's talk that Conte will go for 442 next season...

Well the thing is I try and give everyone the benefit of the doubt, especially if they have served well, I think service deserves loyalty, and I do like him as a player but the managers reaction is quite prolific it speaks volumes.

My concern is this however, Costa  is a popular player in the dressing room, I'm not sure how this will go down with the other players, in the end he kept his professionalism on the pitch despite all the sh*t storm it seems he was causing with transfer roumours, so I am surprised in the manner conte has let him know, I'll be interested to see what further details transpire, but from what Diego says he seems to think he has blindsided, type of man conte is it would take a lot to make him break protocol, I assume costa wanted a move China and athleti fell through then he was like ok I'll stay now and conte thought will you f**k you cheeky sod, seems to be a message to everyone else, 100 percent Chelsea while you're here or no loyalty in return.

I don't know about this popular in the dressing room. I'd admit he may be a different character but I imagine most are probably embarrassed by him and just think 'w**ker'.

Since bad news comes in threes that should be the end of it for the moment - lose FA cup, Hazard injured and Costa juggling his toys[emoji36]

There's so much to speculate on and we really don't have a clue what goes on behind closed doors. I'll add another one: Michy may not have been played much last season as a type of olive branch to keep Diego happy as the number one striker after whatever patched up peace treaty was made in January. Michy's goals to playing time wasn't that bad so we're not totally nuked as we stand.

4-2-4 which is an interesting system, works well on the break, but he knows 3 at the back well, it worked for us, not sure why he would change it unless we are getting in players that specifically suit that system
