Diego "the guv'nor" Costa

Featured Replies

This is attributed to DC, in the L.E.S

  • "Antonio Conte is succeeding at Chelsea where Jose Mourinho failed because the players actually like him, according to Diego Costa."
  • Not really a surprise, but you wonder where these stories originate?

Look, it all started by lots of accusation that without costa, we'd be f**ked.. I'm just trying to prove otherwise.. if they take out costa, our main man, following that article in the goals rule that being set up there, we'd be 5th BUT it's not fair because we're without costa but those teams are still with their main man.. take every team main man and the team at the top would still probably be chelsea.. that's the point..

What a load of old waffle, completely meaningless bollocks.

i think he's having a sly dig at jose from his recent statement but I don't blame him...  last season was indeed like emenalo said, 'palpable discord'  originated from the manager's attitude & behaviour..  world class players don't turn sh*t overnight..

It might be but Costa does more than just score and assist. We'd need a player who did a similar role upfront for us to be top still.

Really what is wrong with you? It's a forum, every disagreement doesn't have to be a foul mouthed retort. Like most, you probably are a decent guy in person but there's no need to act like an aggressive keyboard warrior.

Arsenal 3-nil lost, spurs 2-1 win (pedro - moses if I'm not mistaken), MU 4 nil win (pedro, hazard, kante and forget another 1 but sure it's not costa) so anything else that I miss in that top 6 mini table??

Dont care about what you did or didnt miss or the point youre trying to make. I just think saying "If you remove 2 goals hes scored none" is, well an incredibly daft thing to say.

It's not as simple as taking out a player and saying all we miss from the season is his goals. Football is a lot more than just stats.

ok my bad, I got that wrong..  conveniently his goals in that 2 games didn't decide the results so there is a good chance we'll still probably be top if every top team is being stripped of their top goalscorer's goals so if others say we'd be f**ked without costa then you know how to respond...

His goal and assist did decide the game though. His second half performance against City was truly outstanding. They could not live with him. That goal he scored brought us back level and his excellent assist got us in the lead which allowed us to play the perfect counter game. So he was the main reason we won that game and rightly got MOTM. Costa has been a big game player this season. Again, he was very good second half against Spurs and again his brilliant play and to get the assist for Moses won us the game.

And United, despite not scoring was generally good however he has proven he is the real deal against the big and smaller teams this season.

'don't mind him mate, he's just a bellend..' oops. that's not really original  but thanks for giving me the chance to let him taste his own medicine..

sure, sure, if you're hell bent on seeing things pieces by pieces, you got what you set up too, to make it out as it's a negative post..  My post is corresponding to that article but of course you don't care, hardly a surprise..

It's not about me trying to rate costa only based on goals..  This season costa's overall play has improved quite dramatically compared to previous seasons, that is obvious for all to see.. However, I was playing within the rule in that article I provided.. They took out costa's goals and make it look like we're 5th instead of top like in the current standing BUT in fairness, if they do the same with the other teams by taking out their top goalscorers, the team at the top would still probably be us..

That's never been my intention, the article created a simple rule and I just went along.. Apart form goals, there are other things but it's a bit complicated for the article to show it, I'm pretty sure other team's main man bring them more than just goals so eventually it's pretty much the same if we're following the same rule..

In fairnes I dont think hes arguing that Costa isnt in the form of his life or that he isnt a huge part of our success this season. Just that we have other players this year that are also playing really well. Could have formulated himself better though, that "remove his two goals" bit didnt help either.

It's just a bit mind-boggling that there is a heated debate on the contributions of a player who just happens to be in fantastic form.

That being said ... it doesn't matter if he isn't scoring many against our rivals. We all know he can. In the past, he has goals against City, United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs. Over the past few years we've been in good form, we've managed to gain decent results against those clubs. It's the other teams we've had trouble with, especially in 13/14. We are getting results against the mid/lower table teams and Diego is almost singlehandedly getting us those results.

Diego has been fantastic and such a huge player to us but to say singlehandedly getting results is very unfair to the likes of Hazard, Pedro and the others who have also played a big part to.

This is a team game and many of our boys are pulling their weight not just one or two.

I'm aware, that's why I said almost. His goals against West Brom, Middlesbrough and Palace have helped us grind out some very important wins.

I agree that singlehandedly is an overstatement though.

I hope Diego and Pedro gave each other a bro-hug, cuddled up on a couch with a bunch of kittens and realised how much they like each other after the game.

Jokes aside, we didn't play well, but arguing only made it worse. Our team spirit was one of our strongest and most important attributes this season. I always viewed Pedro as the kind of person who gets along with everyone, so hopefully they cleared the air in a sincere way and everything is good again.

The way they, the whole team, will deal with this difficult situation will determine if they are champions or not. You can get a bit upset when things don't go your way during a game, but in the end champions win and lose together.
