November 4, 201510 yr The constant pressure exists because most of the defense and some attacking players don't have the composure and technical ability to keep possession and play the ball out of trouble. There is no change that can be made to address that problem. Bringing on Cahill, for example, would make it worse, not better. Maybe not Cahill, but an extra midfielder like Loftus Cheek and an attacker like Hazard would make all the difference.
November 4, 201510 yr You're such a joyless turd aren't you....& your meaningless speculations are, as usual, abject piffle. and your are what? a nincompoop who couldn't spot the obvious difference between the 1st and 2nd half?? argh, forget it.. it's youlots after all, the JFD as usual.. what I can expect? nevermind, I'm rather in good mood now with this victory, Chelsea CL adventure can still continue so you can just mumbling all you want..
November 4, 201510 yr What a refreshing feeling. I could get used to this winning thing. Not a terrible performance but still looking out of sorts. Begovic certainly made a clanger. Costa is doing a great Torres impression by hanging about on the wings. Ramires working hard but still lousy at finding a blue shirt with any regularity. My biggest concern was how following Saturday, Jose looked to allow the team to sit back and allow the visitors to take the control of the game. I felt he should have made a change to try and up our intensity before they equalised. Anyway, thank you Willian and let's see if we can get something at Stoke other than some serious injuries.
November 4, 201510 yr While Costa, Hazard, Fabregas etc were getting fat over the summer Willian seems to have put in extra time and has improved tremendously. If you asked me at the start of the season who should be sold he would have been on the list but massive props to the lad, he's been our best player nearly every game and today he was fantastic. Well done Willian They all had pre season breaks too, Willian was playing in the Coppa America and had less time to prepare for the new season. For me, that shows that some of our players aren't as professional as the others. The very least they could have done during their break was stay in shape.

November 4, 201510 yr first things first for those watching on bt sport how bad was michael owen m,tried to slag us off at every oppo.had to turn volume down in the end, good win much needed, first half ok to good but yet again in the second half we looked nervous and invited pressure, i was trying to understand why and i think the main problem of our team is Costa the player is so off form ,he cannot hold the ball up,not seen him shoot in ages ,so when the ball is played forward rather than us building an attack it comes straight back and we are put under pressure
November 4, 201510 yr I'm sorry Willian, sorry for slagging you off constantly until this season. Mea culpa. You're a free-kick guru
November 4, 201510 yr Baba has a serious work to do, he plays against Yarmolenko but I do trust him, huge test for him to prove that he's good enough for us! Felt Baba looked a lot more comfortable out there tonight. A big step in the right direction IMO.
November 4, 201510 yr A win is a win is a win, much happier with the result, keep playing same defence, liven up defensive m/f maybe RLC & Kenedy coming in for Oscar we then could have performances people wish for. Step by step we will recover.
November 4, 201510 yr I appreciate the optimism, I really do. But the overall play today was far from what we can and should expect from Chelsea. We keep losing possesion, we move the ball incredibly slow, especially from deep in midfield and theres a clear lack of final ball. Its more if the same we have seen all season, just against worse opposition. It was very much like the Liverpool game except instead of Benteke and Courinho we were facing Boris and Ivan Average. Cannot say I have seen every game this season, have seen a fair few so I understand what you are saying. However the main thing, and the only thing, I have ever asked of the team is to work their hardest, to show they care and give a damn about it. To make us proud of that aspect of them. I saw that tonight, so that makes me happy. I know for the quality of players we have and how often the good football we have shown in the Roman era we can be expected to play better, more attacking and fluid football. Give the amount of sh*t that has been thrown our way, by our former employee, by the media, by rival fans, by studio pundits, by "chelsea fans" and by actual Chelsea fans, who of course are entitled to their opinion, I am just happy to take what positives I can and enjoy tonight's win. It was not scintillating, but it was good honest graft out there and a heck of a winner. Sure they made mistakes but not due to a lack of effort, but through nerves. We can do better and hopefully against Stoke we do and stick these chances away. These were not mugs like Maccabi were on game day 1. Kiev may not have a brilliant attack but their defense was good over both games, and we kept a talented player subdued in both games. Edited November 4, 201510 yr by axman2526
November 4, 201510 yr They hadn't conceded an away goal in about 3 months, prior to the game. Edited November 4, 201510 yr by Barry Bridges
November 4, 201510 yr This was never going to be the perfect performance. Unlike the last game, we actually wanted to beat them rather than go for the 1:0. The final touches or shots were still no way near to our standard, but at least we were creating chances and better in possession. Jose finally stopped messing around with full backs, and Baba had a decent game so he will build on this.Hazard looked keen after he came on, I think he's responding to the benching well, not far away from being recalled. We can't fix all our problems over night, but at least there are sings things are going to change.
November 4, 201510 yr Managed to catch most of this game, bar first 20 odd mins, in a mcdonalds car park on my phone! Overall I think the fight they showed tonight was fantastic. Begovic 5 Had a bit of a wobble for the goal and distribution not great. Azpilicueta 8 Solid as usual. Zouma 8 Looks our best centre back at the moment, unlucky not to score, fantastic last ditch tackle. Terry 7 Played well for the most part, but it was his and begovic's mix up that gave the corner away for the goal Baba 7 Looking better and better. Dealt well with yarmolenko. Ramires 8 All action display, broke up play well and supported the attack. Matic 7 Protected the back better than he has been doing. Still not at his best though. Fabregas 6 Struggled to really impact the game, should have been subbed earlier. Willian 9 motm I've critised him alot for a lack of end product, but he was fantastic again tonight. Should got more than the 1 assist. Oscar 7 Worked hard and protected baba well, started to fade in the second half. Costa 6 Again worked hard, but his anticipation was poor, he should have had a couple of tap ins tonight. Gets into the box and either falls over, or gets pushed wide far too easy. Needs to get his shot off. Hazard 8 Looked like he had a point to prove, and helped win us the game in the end. He was bearing players again which is what we all want to see. Hopefully the improvement continues. Pedro 6 Didn't get into the game like Hazard. Coming back from injury too and isn't sharp at the moment. Cahill n/a Mourinho 8 Thought we looked pretty solid, and although I thought fabregas and maybe oscar could come off earlier, hazard was brought on and contributed to the win. Hopefully this is a turning point, and we can pick up form in the league.
November 5, 201510 yr If it weren't for Willian's FKs..... Good to see the fans supporting Jose too. Any little thing that can be done to instil some passion into Jose and the players is a step in the right direction.
November 5, 201510 yr Just watched the goals, god that was an awful goal to concede. I mean if they had cost Jose the job, I would really feel bad about Jose and Begovic. I thought he would do a lot better with high balls given where he spent his career in England. The goal Caroll scored, at the time I thought he should have come out to punch the ball out. Let's hope he stays positive, we really don't want play the other GK.
November 5, 201510 yr Got a feeling that Willian will score from a freekick again. You better write this prior to EVERY game for the rest of the season, mate.
November 5, 201510 yr Hey guys, remember when we had that rough spell at the beginning of the season?
November 5, 201510 yr In the off season we knew Costa was a fitness risk and we should have bought a decent backup. Falcao was a very high risk and ultimately dumb option that is costing us now. Lots of us said that at the time so ... On the other hand the poor form of Matic, fab and hazard is hard to understand. Baba did have a much more solid game tonight and so straight away that gives us more width. In the end Dave provided that width but only because he was on the right. Tonight's back four is probably the best we can do right now with zoumas athleticism making up for Terry's lack of speed and Terry providing the character. That's won't last because Terry is past his best but for now it's the best. I would be playing rlc a bit more because we clearly still need more drive in midfield. Probably instead of Matic on current form Also maybe Oscar in the centre instead of fab and Kennedy on the left would further freshen up the team and provide us with some more shooting options. A welcome 3 points and now we need to get our league form happening.
November 5, 201510 yr Good performance from the team, great performance from the crowd, giving the manager the support he deserves and seeing him appreciate it like that in a difficult moment was great to see. Now the club should follow and actually support him in every aspect, none of this board/Emenalo/default options bullsh*t. We have the best in the world, let him make a proper omelet. Willian is fantastic, ability, attitude, positive energy on the team. JT, Zouma, Azpi, Ramires and Matic all with good performances. Baba with his first good performance at this standard, that's more like what we should expect from him and he should improve over time. Costa getting the ball on the wing is not what I want to see, he's a finisher, his overall game is based on smart movement and aggression. Most of the time you're not going to get a clever pass or dribble from him to create space, he's working hard but lacking confidence. Stay in the middle and make the runs, build up play is usually not his game. Hazard coming on for the last 10 minutes and seeing Willian take over as the main attacking player might help him get the drive and motivation back. No more half-asleep performances, he's too good for that, only a matter of time before we see him back to his best. Terry and Matic started this process, he's next.
November 5, 201510 yr Here's a replay of the game for those who couldn't catch it. YES!)
November 5, 201510 yr Good win ... I thought deserved ... esp. the first half ... Going forward, personally I would prefer others given a chance instead of Rambo and Costa starting. Hopefully, we can win at Stoke ... always tough but hopefully ...
