The Mail are reporting Roman wants Pep......probably a prelude to Pep snubs us story knowing the Mail

Roman wanting Guardiola has been known for years, i don't think he will ever get him though.

I have a horrible notion that Roman is still a big fan of AVB ... he paid a huge amount of money to have him released by Porto.

Good shout on Eddie Howe - very impressive young English manager. Not "high profile" enough for one of the billionaire clubs though, regardless of ability.

Pep would be a dream, would garuntee atleast 6 signings cause none of our centrebacks and midfielders can actually pass a ball.

Id love Conte, I love his tactics and it would bring something new to the league.

Pelegirini would make me cry, no way they would do that to us?

Id looooove to see AVB back. Young but experienced with with different clubs around Europe. He likes to play attacking football. Good with playing youngsters.hes got a very different temperament than Jose. Plus hes available

Really??

Look at the game time Josh McEachran got under Carlo and compare it to what he got under AVB.

Pep for 3 years could lay down the foundation for us to become a brilliant attacking side for the next 10 years imo. I know there's a few on here who find his tactics boring, but I really like the way his teams play.

He needs the players for that though.

He inherited teams riddled with fantastic forward players, we really only have Hazard if we are honest.

It's likely the next manager will only be around for max 3 years, despite a lot of people looking for some long term stability, long term youth progression etc.  So if that doesn't happen, we may as well have the best.

I have no problem with how his teams play, they play like winners

I don't think our forward options are that bad, pedro was a pretty big player for pep at Barca and willian has really stepped up this season. I think the main issues would be at full back and centre midfield.

They are not terrible but they are miles away from what he has at Bayern and what he had at Barca, that would be a problem.

I think City are far better suited than we are to Pep and that's why I think he will take the easy option.

I agree with that mainly because of the fact city have a striker in aguero that we won't be able to compete with. We won't be able to field a striker as good as aguero next season.

I think pep will choose city aswell, but I still think they need a bit of work to replicate the possesion game pep favours. Can you see Fernando and Fernandinho both starting for pep? I think he would need to bring in 1 or 2 centre midfielders, and possibly a centre back, although it wouldn't suprise me if one of the 2 aforementioned midfielders ends up being kompanys partner.

If we are looking at the long term and wanting to bring through our youth academy players than I don't see anyone better than Pochettino & I am sure for the right figure we will be able to drive him away from WHL.

I think behind the scenes Roman is going all out for Pep and quite recently I read a German article talking about how his family would prefer London to the North therefore he is willing to consider CFC.

Yeah I'd imagine he would rip out the central midfield and focus on getting in a pairing who will be able to keep possession and will be good with the ball at feet. He will have the backing so money won't be an issue.

Augero, Silva, Sterling and De Bruyne with some quality behind them would be a very dangerous side if Pep got them playing into his strengths.

I see us as a more work like and battling side which would suit Simeone if we could get him but the problem is Roman wants us to be what Peps teams play like and I doubt he will ever be content until that happens.

The pressure exerted by club boardrooms and shareholders does not allow long term managers. This appears to be the modern way. Particularly at Chelsea. The best way to deal with this is possibly to have a "number two" from within the club sitting alongside the new manager. This would also take a bit of pressure off the new manager. Maybe we should consider working JT into the management system. Personally I think there's some mileage in this. He's on his way out of the team and has marshalled our defense for over ten years now. I know his "people skills" will be called into question but he's been a fantastic captain and centre half. He is a strong character who always talks well in the after match interviews. You see him directing the line of defense on a regular basis and he reads the game game better than anyone.

Why are some fans so insistent on a Long term manager. Football moves quickly, and time moves quickly. If you can get 3 years out of a manger these days, that is sufficient. Id rather have 6 fairly successful years with 2 or 3 managers, than 6 stagnant average years with the same one. (eg Arsenal)

I would love Pep. You can guarantee he will TRY (not saying it will definitely work) to implement the possesion/attacking football many CFC fans crave. Also think the players we have will respond, and us being out the CL next year will make it hard to recruit. Having Pep will help attract the better players. It would be nice to see a CFC side setup, with a clear forward thinking vision.

For me Simeone will play a similar brand to Jose, yet he lacks the charisma and man management. Also doesn't speak English.  If not pep then Id rather take a chance with a Martinez. Wouldnt mind Blanc but cant see why he would leave PSG for us.

The love for AVB in this thread is bothering me, apparently losing the dressing room and getting sacked by Spurs and then going to the richest team in Russia warrants giving him another go here. It would be an awful decision.

It's a good question.

When you compare Arsenal and Chelsea over the last 10 years, Arsenal have stuck with Wenger and have struggled to beat the teams that have a new manage every 2-3 years.

So why would we want a long term manager if that is the case ?

What pickles my head is why they have to give the managers 5 year contracts. It must have cost us millions when we keep payig managers five years worth of wages for two years work.

I just want to have a manager who when they do well they get the chance to at least get a season to sort out any poor spells.

We are never going to get a manager who will be number 1 and will have constant success so everyone who takes this job knows that no matter what they do if they start to struggle for a few months they will be sacked regardless of previous merits.

I really don't get the long obsession either, 3 years in football is a long time.

I think it would be better to establish a style of play throughout the club that roman and the fans are happy with, then bring managers in that fit the style, and let them make the tweaks all managers will want to make.

As long as they keep us in the chains league I think they should be given at least 2 full seasons to assess whether it would best to offer them a long term contract.

I don't think managers should be sacked after finishing in the top 4, unless there are massive problems off field. At the same time I don't think we should be looking at our next manager and planning on them being here for over 3 years.

If Pep signs, half our players leave.

Imagine the likes of Ramires trying to play a game of exquisite control and precision passing. Good lord. Pep would have a heart attack. Matic' passing can be very awkward at times too as he's very reliant on his left foot.

Pep would like the following.

Hazard. Willian. Oscar. Azpi.

He would have loved Terry if he was 5 years younger. Zouma has a lot of room for improvement and I'd hope he stays.

This would be the biggest clear out of a top squad in many a year if we sign Pep.

Although it would make watching a stream watchable.

Pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass. Streams freeze. Pass pass pass keeper pass pass pass freeze keeper pass pass pass.
