I disagree.

You are entitled to disagree but to state that he was a flop at Milan is not accurate, neither is it to state that Juve have regressed under him.

How much Italian football do you watch??

With Pep, now openly stating at Bayern, that he wants/needs a new challenge and that this will likely be in England, we just need to get to the front of the queue.

He'd certainly have more of a challenge at Chelsea (rebuilding of team, dealing with Emanalo, rebuilding of the Bridge and reporting to Roman.) What more of a challenge could he possibly need ???

He will manage City.

He doesn't want an actual challenge.

He has lusted after the United job for years but they are not in a good enough shape for him now.

He is in many ways a managerial coward.

Hes a bit arrogant isn't he, just thinks he has to click his fingers and clubs will beg him to manage them.

Nah, Pep's a nice guy and a proper gentleman, not like that twat José.

startedwithglenn; I agree generally, I don't think Pep is a coward but I have posted elsewhere on this site that Pep has taken the easy jobs up until now, so what about if he knew deep down that this was the case and felt that he really needed to prove himself? What better place than at Chelsea where his old adversary Mourinho, was failing ? (admittedly not withstanding last season)

Honestly, if I was Pep I wouldn't go to City. They do have a better squad than us and he will get a go at the CL right away, but living there for around three years certainly won't be the kind of new life experience he admitted he was looking for. London is probably the choice for someone like him and his family for so many reasons I won't even list them.

Also joining us might be smart from a different angle. It is easier to bring this squad back into the CL, even back to the top of the table, than the 14th place suggests. Yet it would make him look like a real genius, wouldn't it?

This is a tricky one.

I was Pep I would choose City over us. They have sensible owners, give managers a decent amount of time, good scouting and generally, a more well ran club than us.

He will get time, patience and money at City. We can proper only offer him a good wage and London lifestyle.

To be honest, I'm not loving all these reports about breaking the bank for Pep and giving him endless spending money.

I thought we were very admirable in trying to stick with FFP in the last few years and would prefer us to be acquiring and developing talents on a more reasonable budget, with the occasional splash investment into the business (aka world class player).

Send him to City, let him have the money and lets still beat them!

Spot on mate. Saw a picture online of a restaurant in manchester which already reserved a table for him with a customized jersey of both city and utd, I felt sickened. The media/press are just preparing him for a fall so they can laugh hard when it happens.

Regarding Pep, I am unsure. If he wanted to come here I'd say absolutely let him have a go.

I do worry however, that his style may not adapt to the blood and thunder that is the premier league as easily as he thinks.

If he was a purist only wanting elite clubs you'd think he'd want the Utd job. However, London is a much better place to live and we are a top team, with an exciting stadium rebuild coming along, maybe he would want a piece of this project?

That is exactly what I want to happen. I am not at a point where I think he is the cream of the crop and I dont like our relentless pursuit of Pep as if he is the 'messiah' !!!

He's clearly stated he's only in for the short term. Probably one of Simeone, Pep, Pellegrini, Conte or the Chilean coach (whatever his name is).

He is in many ways a managerial coward.

That's one way of looking at it. Another is that his tactics are very complex and in order for them to be successfully implemented he needs the best players at his disposal and they are generally at the best clubs in the world.

Listening to uncle Guus in press conferences is so refreshing. He just talks straight open and honest. Results to match and why not stick him on a rolling 1 year contract.

Didn't he already say that he won't stay for the next season ?

Didn't he already say that he won't stay for the next season ?

Yeah, he said he only has two dates in mind.  The FA Cup final and the CL Final.  After that, he's going home.

I know he's said that, and I agree it's probably still the most likely scenario, however...

1. Things change in life and people sometimes do things they said they wouldn't.

2. He's hardly going to start talking about an offer that hasn't been made and speculating on what ifs at this stage, also to protect his own reputation if it's just till the end of the season it's a no lose for uncle Guus.

3. The players seem to have genuinely taken to him as a human being.

4. There may not be great options open to us at the end of the season. Roman has bought himself some time to explore those options but we don't know how that is going.

The obvious issue is Guus is 69. Is that too old for another year or two?? If it wasn't for his age you'd definitely have to consider him so is the number 70 just not open to consideration. Who knows. Mrs Hiddink might just want to go on a cruise instead.

So I agree unlikely, but has to be a possibility if the season turns around, particularly if Drogba and others are in the frame for supporting roles and to be mentored.

according to chelseafanchannel on youtube he wants to bring alexis sanchez if he came to chelsea

:laugh2:  :laugh2:  :laugh2:  good luck! that ship has sailed; could have got him before arsenal if we put in the effort.
