January 14, 201610 yr The 'Pato to Chelsea' rumours are starting to gain a bit more traction so time for its own thread. http://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/chelsea-fc-transfer-rumours-news/2016/1/14/10767712/chelsea-fc-transfer-news-rumors-alexandre-pato-corinthians If this was five years ago I'd be jumping for joy but Pato hasn't lived up to his early hype.
January 14, 201610 yr Pato means duck. Duck in cricket means scoring 0. Seems to fit for his potential Chelsea career.
January 14, 201610 yr A risky deal but could pay off to be a good one. If his head is in the right place and apparently he's turned down a crazy offer to play in China then maybe it is in the right place. He was gifted at Milan but injury prone, he hasn't been injured for a while. He's also quite versatile and has apparently flourished as a left inside forward. It's a very risky deal if this does go through but sadly given our position in the league with no champions league football next season these are the type of targets we going to have to go for. But it's also a bit strange as we have the likes of Kenedy/Bamford coming through the ranks who could potentially fill Patos position.
January 14, 201610 yr Free, short-term, replaces Falcao who's on a long term injury. Why not? Not free. I've seen 11m thrown around as the fee.
January 14, 201610 yr Quite heartening to see that our little forum is such a hotbed of Brazilian football expertise, that's good to see. How has Pato played recently since he was moved to the left of a front three for Sao Paulo?
January 14, 201610 yr Don't we already have an injury prone, under achieving, South American striker?

How has Pato played recently since he was moved to the left of a front three for Sao Paulo? I agree with this, i very much doubt many here, bar the odd few, have watched him at all apart from the odd occasion since he left Milan. The only thing putting doubt in peoples minds is his injuries id guess. He is only 26, so the "washed up" remarks ive seen are a bit O.T.T
January 14, 201610 yr Not free. I've seen 11m thrown around as the fee.Just saw the 15m euros report. Oh dear

He is only 26, so the "washed up" remarks ive seen are a bit O.T.T He was shuttled off on loan for two years in part of a transfer deal. He's become a bargaining chip in Brazilian football, not really inspiring confidence that he'll do much to improve our forward line.
January 14, 201610 yr I remember hearing a while back that he had a pretty questionable lifestyle off the pitch, so I wikipedia'd him:- In 2007, Pato was engaged to Brazilian actress Sthefany Brito. They mutually split up in January 2009. However, they got back together, and on 7 July 2009, they married in a ceremony at the Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro. However, the marriage lasted less than ten months, and the couple divorced on 21 April 2010, with Brito citing Pato's constant partying as the reason for their split. In 2010, he had a brief romance with Miss Brazil 2010, Débora Lyra. Was a while ago when he was young to be fair. I'd be very concerned about signing a player whose club & agent are absolutely desperate to shift him, and then of course there's Bamford & Solanke who surely deserve a shot first?

When was the last time a youth player did anything for us?! And don't point to the two out of the four goals scored by them this week!/s
January 14, 201610 yr The guy is still only 26 years old and he's doing well in Brazil. It's worth a go, has to be better than what we've got.
January 14, 201610 yr If we sign him, it will be because of his name, it certainly won't be for his ability anymore. Pato has not become the player people thought he would become.
