January 20, 201610 yr another huge punt after the falcao deal. this guy should've been the best center forward around at this stage in his career. I wonder if he still has that pace.
January 20, 201610 yr Has he been injured since November? Brazils season finished in November. He hasn't been injured but I don't he is going to be very sharp. My enthusiasm has started to wane again for this. He is unlikely to be match sharp for at least another 6 weeks depending on heavily he is involved. It makes it a very big ask whether he can hit the ground running, in the pace of the premier league, and provide us with that short term solution. If the club like the player so much, why not just wait and pick him up for free in the summer, so he has a full pre season, and a better chance for the gamble to pay off? I think he could prove to be a decent signing in the long term, but I'm doubting whether now is the right time to take such a risk.
January 20, 201610 yr "I'm brazilian and I've seen him playing at Corinthians and Sao Paulo, and to me he has no chance of playing in the Premier League." Some brazilian lad on Facebook
January 20, 201610 yr If we were fighting for the league title, maybe we could take the risk, but because of where we are in the league, i think this is just too much of a risk. We are in a relegation fight right now, we can't afford to be taking these kinds of risks. It's like the board doesn't understand the seriousness of our situation. We should never assume that we are too good to go down.
January 20, 201610 yr That should be taken with a grain of salt, any one can post a negative or positive comment about him especially on Facebook. If truly he signs, we should at least give a chance before we judge.
January 20, 201610 yr He did when he played. He's made of chocolate and has a terrible attitude by all accounts. He might well fit in here after all.... He hasn't had an injury in 3 years.

Some brazilian lad on Facebook Someone who follows Brazilian players on twitter (@BrazilStats) said he deserves his chance in the Premier League as he's been very impressive. So many random opinions, lol.
January 20, 201610 yr He's said himself he doesn't have the physical ability to play as a #9. Grrrrrreeat
January 20, 201610 yr So not having played since November Pato will be match fit by the end of the season. You really have to wonder at the muppets who run this club.
January 20, 201610 yr What's the point of our academy...all very well ignoring them when we were buying some of the worlds best players, but sidelining them for the dross we have signed in last 12 months? Load of bollox
January 20, 201610 yr The other targets mentioned were also ridiculous in their own way though. Jackson Martinez? £30m? Vardy? Berahino? Bacca? Besdies Berahino theyre all 29 roughly £30m quoted, add into that Berahino has a bad attitude and id be more against him signing than Pato tbh

January 20, 201610 yr Totally agree - but we will see what he does on the pitch......if he ever gets picked to play LOL !
January 20, 201610 yr In all honesty there is virtually nobody on this board who know what they're talking about in regards to Pato. Very few avid watchers of Serie A and even less avid watchers of the Brazilian league, it's all guesswork based on wikipedia and youtube. The real issue is that the board is just full of people with unrealistic expectations who aren't happy unless we're signing Pogba or Greizmann and let's be honest, no big signings happen in January anymore. Anybody that we would bring in in January would be questionable.
January 20, 201610 yr These signing would have got me hyper excited 5 years ago, sadly i think the injuries has completely destroyed him.
January 20, 201610 yr Can't believe we're going to sign him. So many strikers that would happily play for us and are proven goalscorers and we still go for these useless targets. Jackson Martinez Saido Berahino Michy Batshuayi Alexandre Lacazette
January 20, 201610 yr Low transfer fee, low wages, happy with squad role. If both Falcao and Remy leave and we replace them with Pato and Traore (I don't rate Bamford like most on here do), I would be pretty happy personally.
January 20, 201610 yr Without spending loads of money those aren't realistic signings though. The reported figure for Pato is 8m, which is peanuts. There just aren't many good strikers around these days. Didn't Martinez cost atletico about 30m? Not sure if trying to buy him for more than that at the age of almost 30 would be great business. Lacazatte has to cost about 40m so that's not cheap either. I'm going to trust our scouts with this one, they need to get it right soon though. All these dud signings combined add up to quite a big sum I'd imagine.
January 20, 201610 yr I would describe myself as "underwhelmed" with this..... but as I have said in other threads if he is cheap and replacing Falcao, then why not. He's 26, it's a punt at the end of the day. I can't help but wonder how many people who are calling out the board for there complete incompetence have actually watched Pato play even a minute of football in the last 3 years. I haven't.... I bet you haven't either...
January 20, 201610 yr When Bournemouth are splashing out a combined £18-20m on Lewis Grabban and Benik Afobe for example, Pato at £8m is worth a gamble. It's January, the big superstar names tend to move in the summer
January 20, 201610 yr Low transfer fee, low wages, happy with squad role. If both Falcao and Remy leave and we replace them with Pato and Traore (I don't rate Bamford like most on here do), I would be pretty happy personally. I would also be happy. But I dont trust Traore is in line for a promotion or Pato is going to be used as a squad player in the end
January 21, 201610 yr Low transfer fee, low wages, happy with squad role. If both Falcao and Remy leave and we replace them with Pato and Traore (I don't rate Bamford like most on here do), I would be pretty happy personally. Pato is worse than Remy and Traore is unproven. I trust Traore to do a better job than Falcao, but if we lose Costa to injury and we end up with Pato as our leading striker..........well, it's certainly going to make scoring goals a lot harder. Let's not forget that the guy hasn't played since November, he's not going to be up to the level needed until around March / April. His goalscoring stats ain't exactly that impressive either, 10 league goals in 30 games in Brazil.......that doesn't fill me with confidence to be honest. We would be MUCH better off sticking with Remy Edited January 21, 201610 yr by Scott Harris
