When he scores a 120 yard screamer against Arsenal in the CL final y'all be sorry. I'm just kidding, 40 yards.

Lol, he'll be taking the shot from somewhere in the car park outside the stadium then !

Arsenal in CL final? Gem, everything all right?

C'mon Gem, be realistic, there's no way that's going to happen.

I mean, Arsenal in the CL final? What were you thinking?

Edit: Ok, I should have read further before posting :)

Never mind that, as there appear to be no official sightings of him yet, can anyone confirm that Pato is actually at Chelsea or was it just a malicious rumour?

check his instagram

he's in london. one picture is of him watching chelsea vs psg at home on tv.

there's also a picture of him half naked with willian and oscar. annnnnd one of him drinking "english tea" in a cafe.

so no, we cannot confirm either way if he is indeed a chelsea player. he's certainly in london. annnnnnnd seems to be hanging out with chelsea players.

its a maybe from me.

a month gone and hes still not available for selection

nice to see some things never change like Roman playing championship manager and signing another crocked has been striker

It is like every fan's dream. Take pictures with players, eat with them, practice with them, watch all the games from the front row and get paid millions for that. Man hard to beat that.

not sure why people are tripping on Pato - Guus said it would take time for him to get match fitness - he has only been w/ the club for 1 month - also he last played in Nov in Brazil - what I find more disturbing is that Remy hasn't been available in the meanwhile - Where is Remy?

Remy was a known defect though. His ability to get injured at the exact same time Costa goes down is uncanny. And he was already our player so nothing we could do about it.

Pato's injury woes are widely known. It was simply ridiculous to add him to our injury table when we actually had needs to fill.

The whole squad had 2 weeks of pre season before the start of the season, why is pato needing 5-6 weeks

That is reason why CFC are a mid-table side

cos unfortunately our manager f**ked up big time looking at the bigger picture, i'd hazard a guess he knows the mistake he made and will never make the same mistake again

Seems like a very un-Mourinho like thing to do.  Not sure why people are convinced this was his call when, to my recollection, he never did this before despite managing campaigns that were just as if not more grueling.

I'd like to think that Mourinho would try address the situation by bringing in more players he can trust to rotate into the team rather than go by the logic of starting off slower in the first half of the season so they could be fresher for the second half.... I really struggle to think any manager would accept that in such a competitive league.  As they say, you can't win the league by Christmas but you can sure lose it before then.

???

Without turning this into another José topic. Mourinho did admit around the time of the City defeat that he had chosen to bring the players back late, looking more to the back end of this season. As we now all know it backfired spectacularly. The decision as manager was his alone. If it comes off, he is a hero,if he fails he has cost his employer around 50m. Pre season is vital for the players, gathering fitness and confidence. Poor ones result in more muscular injuries throughout the season hence Pato was always unlikely to play in the first few weeks of him here.

Alexandre Pato has yet to make his Chelsea debut, having arrived on loan from Corinthians during the January transfer window, but Hiddink confirmed he is in contention to play at Norwich on Tuesday.

"He is eager and of course we now have healthy competition between the strikers, in a very good atmosphere, with Diego Costa the number one," he added.

I doubt we'll see him start the match against Norwich, unless Costa is injured and even then Traore might be ahead of him in the pecking order, but with so many matches being played during the next two weeks (or so), I think we'll see him feature for us. Costa can't start them all, even if he stays fit and I don't think he will play full 90 minutes in all of them that he does start.

From Guus' interview

The manager also suggested there could be an opportunity for Pato, who arrived on loan from Corinthians last month, to make his Chelsea debut, particularly as Hiddink is contemplating giving Diego Costa a rest with one eye on the second leg of our Champions League tie against PSG, which takes place next Wednesday.

Pato is eager and there is healthy competition among the strikers with Diego as number one, it’s a very good atmosphere,’ said the Dutchman. ‘The others have stepped up and I’m happy with the progress of Bertrand Traore.

‘He’s not ready for 90 minutes but he’s ready to play part of the game. That’s why I said in his situation the best thing was to have him on loan, so he could get used to the club and the club could make a proper judgement on his performances.

For me the guy shouldn't be starting as a striker in front of Traore or Abraham if Costa is unavailable. On the wings he shouldn't be starting ahead of Kenedy.

If he does then it's a real shame.

Traore? Yes. Abraham? I'm not so sure about that. If we won't give Pato a chance to show us what he's capable of, then the loan will be even more pointless.

Robbie Di Matteo was sacked on 21 November 2012.

That was also the day on which Pato scored his last goal for Milan.

I'm personally in favour of looking to the future rather than giving meaningful minutes to a man who last did something noteworthy in European football over three years ago.
