January 29, 20169 yr Not a fan of yanks tbh. Any new coverage for our fan base is good news though! I think we already have a strong pull in the US going by the pre seasons we have had over there in the past few years. Â Haven't met another American Chelsea fan in my life for what its worth. One teacher at my school actually has an Arsenal flag AND Chelsea flag up in his room. We're not all like that.

We're not all like that. Suppose they have their own clubs now who are getting a bit more attention with the players coming in these days. I'd imagine football is still a second sport over there behind the likes of Baseball, Basketball, Hockey and American Football. The progress it's making is great though

January 29, 20169 yr I've met quite a few American fans at games over the years and I've generally found them to be really easy to get on with and knowledgeable about Chelsea/English football. The more the merrier I say - welcome Matt.Â
January 29, 20169 yr As an American I'm probably a little more excited and dare I say optimistic about this signing then I normally would be with us getting someone from the MLS. I haven't really watched him (don't follow MLS much since there isn't a local team in Miami....yet) but from the videos I have seen he looks like a good prospect. I would love to see an American make it with Chelsea and in the Premier League in general. Â As for Football's status in America that Chelsbear (who I hoped I haven't offended with my Yankness....) alluded to, it is really a growing sport over here. More and more I see kits being worn around and about and the vast majority are Premier League teams. If I'm at a mall I can expect to see one or two shirts (either Arsenal or Chelsea) almost every time. As the sport grows (which I think was massively helped by the success of FIFA games and the fact you can watch every game either on TV or the internet thanks to NBC) I suspect the MLS to get more competitive and a new generation of American talent to bring a lot more appreciation and excitement over the game. Football truly has come to America and I don't see it going away anytime soon...
January 29, 20169 yr When has he played in New York?  I don't think he did play in the MLS, but Kitson was linked to a few MLS clubs... perhaps he went over there for a trial/discuss terms etc  Not saying it is Dave Kitson, but he did play for Stoke and Reading and appeared on The Football League show (something the TSF mentions in his "access all areas" book). January 29, 20169 yr Do we have a partnership with an MLS club? Like Vitesse and that Belgian one I can't remember. Don't see Roman going all out and buying/setting up a MLS club but of we want to expand into the US market we might have to.
January 29, 20169 yr We can't really have that sort of relationship with an MLS club though as they have really weird rules about foreign players.

It's great to see someone from over here break into the Chelsea team but I have a feeling that he will a) be shipped off on loan or b) end up like Yedlin getting very little time then passed off to a "lesser" club after a year or so. Â Football is growing very fast in popularity here with new teams coming into the league every few years. I'm excited that we're (Atlanta) getting a MLS team in 2017 but then they dissolved our NASL team to make way for ATL United.
January 29, 20169 yr Welcome Matt Miazga! It is certainly a big step up from MLS but lets give him a chance and get behind him. Based on the comments from Guus it sounds like he will have a few chances to show his worth before the season is out.
January 29, 20169 yr I read that Drogba had recommended Miazga to Chelsea after playing against him. I have no idea if that's true or not but would like to think it was.
January 29, 20169 yr I'm not very keen on this signing, being good in a minor league as the US one does not mean he will be good for European football, much less for the demand that the PL has. But if it's done, I hope he gets the opportunity to grow and becomes a great defender. However, I'd have preferred if the youngsters had had an opportunity. Also, I'm not sure the defence is a line that needs reinforcement at this point unless Cahill is leaving for sure.
January 29, 20169 yr Ive heard the best MLS sides have championship level talent. How much would a promising 20 year old CB playing for Forest run us? My guess is a little more than what we paid for Matt.

January 30, 20169 yr http://youtu.be/VzqM5Tc5aZg I know highlight reels are not the best way to judge a player (anybody remember Kerlon? [emoji57]) but from this he looks strong, has a sensible pass about him and has pretty decent tackle technique for his age. Might be a bit too fond of going to ground for the Premier League but training with Terry and Cahill will certainly help with understanding the new league he's joining. January 30, 20169 yr I like this kid big quick strong looks good in they air all he needs is a couple years mentoring from terry and we could have a world class centre back pairing of Zouma and Matt
January 30, 20169 yr Just learn the art of defending from JT and you are going to have a very bright future at CHELSEA.
January 30, 20169 yr I agree yet I feel like Im missing your point My point is the signing of Hector was pointless to begin with. Especially if we'd been scouting Miazga for 'some time' apparently
