Antonio Conte - Now Officially Manager

+ He never gets in trouble like Jose p.e. I believe Roman wants to give him extension but the Conte himself is wondering about ambition and the finances we will provide him to buy the players he wants. But right now, there is a stability in scores that I'm sure if Conte stays, will give us many battles for the title in upcoming years. Even this season we would be a real contender if City wasn't that perfect. I believe Chelsea can be like United in 2000's - champions many times and if we are not, due to some extraordinary performance like this one from City, and always involve in top 4. We had so many problems at the beginning of the season, it's unbelievable that we are right next to United. Give this man a new contract, and more importantly - the right amount of money for players. He totally deserves it.

Who are you and what've you done to Pendergast?

In any other season we are challenging for the title, so far at least. After losing to palace, west ham and Burnley.

I would say our board cannot blame him for being behind the near perfect city but this is our board so he could get sacked if we lose to arsenal you never know...

I don't think we would sack Conte before the end of the season unless there was a major issue and I don't see losing to Arsenal as a major issue.

I also actually think we will beat them.

Saw this tweet earlier and thought it was interesting

“Chelsea announce the club recorded a profit of £15.3m for the year ending 30 June 2017. They made an operating loss despite increased revenue for winning the PL & were only pulled into profit by a £69.2m injection from player trading.

Guess this answers some of your transfer related frustrations over the last year or so....”

OK so we've blasted Baka and Morata enough for the draw, time to critique Conte's performance.

I think the subs were not good, DW coming on great but he should've started and he should've replace Baka not Cesc. 2 men + 1 passenger remained 2 men + 1 passenger.
Hazard was effecting the game massively and comes off, Willian comes on and cannot get into the game at all.
Zappa for Moses was a good sub and it led to a goal.

His tactics were OK, on the balance of the game we are winning all day long, more chances and better ones than they had too.
But the last few minutes we turtled up and gave up control of midfield for no reason, if we attacked we could push them back, it cost us a goal that could've been avoided if we just had kept Hazard on.

Oh dear. You don't take on our board and win. I sense a parting of the ways on the horizon.

Maybe it's for the best. I mean goddamn, look what he did this season giving away our best striker Diego Costa only to be replaced by an Amateur.

I can imagine a new manager coming in and deciding to bench Morata in most matches and only be used for backup for whoever will REALLY be playing match after match.

Arsene wenger has less of a squad and he just drew with us and outsmarted conte. Either conte changes his ideas or stop complaining. Also, who's fault was it costa left? I don't like him saying those things at all. Just get on with it.

Whisper it quietly but Maybe that next manager actually trusts Batman and gives him confidence and he turns out to be a better goal scorer than morata. Conte could be wrong about him...

Conte hasn't been happy since he walked into Chelsea, been moaning about transfers more than anyone.

If he does not like it then does he seriously think he will change our board? I don't see it happening. Seriously better off to quit he will not be out of work long.

it's boring to hear how the squad is this or that, how the fixtures are this or that. fact is, his tactics were sh*t tonight. the subs were too late and the wrong ones. he went to arsenal with one thing in mind, not to lose. he's got a striker there in batshuyai who he's shown zero confidence in, but wants to bring in a lumux like llorente who's scored 1 goal all season and is hardly what anybody would class a top striker as back up. at least bats has age on his side, and already has scored crucial goals for us (more than llorente in fact with one less game). i'm sure he would have put away those chances tonight that morata had anyhow. if pep had batshuyai, he would be an efficient player i am sure of it. conte is becoming jose mark 2 with the way he's carrying on. we always hear this sh*te after a loss or draw, it's tedious.

i think after reading it, he was referring to Juve.  As you say, you dont publicly slam your own board, especially Roman

Hope so. I mean fair enough if you play morata and he is poor then play Batman and he is poor and you exhaust every option and they are poor then you can moan all you like that you need players. When you barely use good players like Batman or drinkwater cause you for some reason don't like them it is your own blooming problem. Only fair one he can complain about is no competition for Alonso.

I felt for Conte, as a manager you have to trust your star striker for finish 3 one on one chances to win a game, or the experienced defenders and midfielders to hold out for 2 more minutes against a striker less team. It's natural for the pundits to say he should have done this, change that during the game, but for god sake there's nothing he could have done to make his striker stick the ball into the net from 10 yards out, not once, but given 3 goes at it. I reckon he aged about 3 months after the game.

I remember almost throwing my laptop out of the window after 1 of those games on FM:biggrin:

Criticism is misplaced in my view. That is a good as I have watched Arsenal play and we still should have won. We lacked the clinical finishing and game management of past years. Drogba or Costa or Lampard playing today and we would have won comfortably.

A managers job is to get the team into the final third and creating chances. We did that. You could hardly blame him for Bellerin smashing in a screamer.

As for Michy I'm not sure what he has done to justify this sudden wave of affection. He is likeable sure, but he just does so little outside the six yard box.

Arsenal have a very decent squad and just how did he outsmart Conte? They were the home side - haven't lost at home all season and we were minutes from victory and even after they equalised we should have grabbed a winner. Okay, I would have kept both Fab and Hazard on and taken off Baka and Morata but other than that, no complaints.

Hasn't looked happy? You having a laugh? Have you missed all the celebrations - jumping into the fans, laughing in press conferences? He has been a breath of frsh air after what we had before and continues to be.

I mean with transfers, he has been constantly moaning from the start.

Regarding Michy it's because he makes a rare appearance here or there or gets 10 seconds at the end of the game and some people seem to think that's enough to rate a player who's confidence must be shot and is surely not playing any game in the right mindset. Baka has been given a good chance, not Batman, it's not love but just abit of common sense.

The thing that annoyed me most was the way he set up for a draw towards the end. At 1-1 he takes off Hazard and Fabregas and brings on Drinkwater and Willian. This is the time we should be going for the kill, why not bring Baka off and bring Willian/Pedro on or even Drinkwater and keep Cesc's creativity. Sitting back asked for a goal and keeping Baka on for the full 90 was suicide. If he is trying to build Baka's confidence, play him for 90 minutes against a weaker side, not against a top 4 London rival.
