March 7, 201610 yr You don't half get some f**king morons on here sometimes. Truer words have never been spoken. Ballack was awesome for us imo. A truly world class footballer and a top leader.
March 7, 201610 yr If ever a picture could sum up the lack of leadership, personality and self belief that the current team lacks.
March 7, 201610 yr Just don't understand the negativity of some individuals, we have seriously underperformed this season but if we play to our potential at the bridge not many teams in the world would be able to cope. One poster calling our midfield the worst in the league is laughable, we have arguable the best attacking midfield in the premier league. We've had issues with Matic's form and it has started to get very worrying whether he will be able to return to the level he was at, but Mikel has done a commendable job. PSG are one of the best team in Europe but than again so are we & I just hope the players are able to justify and showcase their talent on Wednesday.
March 7, 201610 yr You should't worried about Di Maria, Lucas or Pastore, you should worried about him: Verratti and Matuidi are class. Excellent players. They are the reason a defense consisting of Luiz and Silva are not humiliated night after night. When we had Essien, Ballack and Maka we had something similar. Thiago Silva is just the better defender in the world, even better than Ramos. Well Matuidi is a cause of division among PSG fans. Some think exactly like you and that we cannot afford to lack the pressure he puts on the opponent playmaker. Others, like me, think we cannot afford to not play with Pastore who could apply some kind of pressure on Fabregas as well and bring his vision and some key passes which we absolutely need especially when Verratti is not there. Anyway we shall see but would we play without Pastore and Verratti, I really think Chelsea will pass. Furthermore, on a psychological dimension, what message do you send to your opponent by doing everything you can so that Pastore, who has been enormous in every game vs Chelsea, starts on the bench and put Matuidi/Rabiot instead? It shows fear, not confidence. And as some of you mentioned earlier on, the key for PSG would be to score 1 or 2 goals, not to aim for a 0-0 and Blanc 'll send a weird message to both his troops and opponents by setting up a team with an obvious lack of creativity. You're right, but Pastore had a lot of injury this season. Edited March 7, 201610 yr by Stambusqets
March 8, 201610 yr Not much confidence by any account by anyone it seems including myself. Anything can go in footy, so let's hope it is one of those days in our favour!
March 8, 201610 yr I love these guys posting videos that someone has taken time to make to prove how sh*t their own players are...phenomenal stuff. Anyway, we are the udnerdogs, its a cup game, anything can happen, so let's have it! If Matuidi and Veratti are both out, that is a huge chance for us. Not sure about our defence, not sure if Terry is even an option, but I could see us setting up with the old back 4 and we'll see a team of: Ivan.......Cahill...Terry....Azpi Mikel Fabregas Willian Oscar Hazard Costa
March 8, 201610 yr It seems like Matuidi will be able to play. Verratti has not been training with the rest of the team for 7 days now. No way he can start in my opinion. Pastore is said to take the spot of Verratti in the midfield (There is also the alternative Rabiot but Pastore seems to have the lead) Again Lucas, for weird reasons I am not quite getting, will play instead of Cavani. So PSG team will be : Trapp Marquinhos Silva Luiz Maxwell Motta Pastore Matuidi Lucas Di Maria Ibra Quite a decent team in my opinion, I look forward for Di Maria and Pastore to play together. I don't know why Blanc keeps setting Cavani on the bench. He has been so lucky that Cavani scored at the end on the first leg which brought back Cavani from the dead but yet he won't try to take advantage of it, I just dont get it. Everyone in France says Matic would be there. Yet none of you seems to include him in the most likely team. Is he still injured or has he been a disappointment lately ?

The same Stambouli that was at Tottenham and did nothing for a year?

March 8, 201610 yr Teebo Azpi Ivan Gaz Baba Mikel Cesc Willian Hazard Bert Costa Hate to say it but I kind of miss having the option of Rambo on the bench. He always seemed to produce against teams in the CL
March 8, 201610 yr Teebo Azpi Ivan Gaz Baba Mikel Cesc Willian Hazard Bert Costa Hate to say it but I kind of miss having the option of Rambo on the bench. He always seemed to produce against teams in the CL I agree with the Rambo comment, he was perfectly suited to the counter attacking football we often played against the bigger teams in Europe. He provided good cover on the wings and had the pace to impact games on the counter, his frailties were not exposed and he could use his strengths to good effect. He would have definitely been a starter in the first leg and may have played a significant part in the 2nd leg if we were looking to see out the game.

He always seemed to produce against teams in the CL Absolutely agree. Needed him in the last leg too when the game was stretched and there were huge gaps for him to do one of his trademark lung-busting runs into. But the club sold a player in January without replacing him which is why it's clear they aren't taking this competition seriously. Easy for people to say 'where's the positive' or 'where's the belief' but that comes from the club down.
March 8, 201610 yr I'm hoping Guus is bluffing about JT and that he does make it, if thats the case I'd have the team as such Tbo Ivan Cahill JT Azp Mikel Cesc Traore Willian Hazard Costa If Pedro is fit I'd nearly play him on the RW but thats unlikely, I just hope we dont start with Oscar. Hes just too inconsistent and you dont know what youre going to get from him.

March 8, 201610 yr Clearly found his level in the French league. Luckily for us the Champions league isn't the French league. If he's playing, should make it much easier.
March 8, 201610 yr Like a lot of us here not overly confident about this game, I think they have a better team and we need a massive improvement compared to the last PL games to stand a chance. But we have been in this situation before in the CL, being underdogs and we went all the way... We need to score at least 2 if not 3 to progress, there is no way we will keep a clean sheet. Come on Chelsea !
March 8, 201610 yr Hi there, In my opinion, Matuidi will be on the starting team. I also think that Verratti will play, but he may start on the bench and enter if things turn wrong for us. Btw we do not feel so confident... well, not my case. So here's my expected team for tomorrow night : Trapp Marquinhos/Van Der Wiel Silva D.Luiz Maxwell Motta Rabiot Matuidi Di Maria Lucas Zlatan Expected changes during the game if we don't lead the score Verratti for Rabiot at 65' Cavani will replace Lucas at 70' in any case. Pastore for Rabiot at 80/85 Final score : 1 (Willian) - 2 (Lucas ; Di Maria) See ya on wednesday ;)

The talent is there, I agree, after all, we've seen it perform well. Unfortunately, this season we have seen them play horribly bad. One could argue that makes them the worst in the league, as in: it's bloody criminal to underperform like that. But I'm ready to see that change Edited March 8, 201610 yr by Valerie
