Alvaro Morata

can see why we were after lukaku. i thought morata would be able to stay on his feet more than he does. needs to show strength.

I'd say someone needs a word with him to stop playing for the foul and just pretend they will never come (won't take that much imagination) so to keep playing until you get the shot/pass off or until they literally rugby tackle you down.  Then the calls might start coming, but atleast you won't just keep falling over and giving the ball away....... but I imagine this has had to have been said to Morata a few times.

I think what really needs to happen is someone needs to tell his wife that she needs to give Morata a kick up the ass to start playing like a tough guy and not a flower petal!

Morata copping an awful lot of flak on here for diving, but he is a rank amateur compared to what Drogba used to do ...

Drogba was more about slowing down the play when it was required, falling over in irrelevant places, he didn't need to dive in the box. Too busy bullying defenders.

Just too used to getting those foul calls in Spain.  He definitely has the strength to play in the Prem.  I’d be more concerned if he wasn’t strong and was falling over.  He can be coached to use his strength better.

and Drogba caught a lot of flack for that, especially when he wasn't making up for it with dominant performances/plenty of goals.  Perhaps the ideal person to speak to Morata on this.

I've never had a problem with players making the most of contact if a defender is stupid enough to give him a chance, especially when you see some of the penalties we don't get, its no surprise see players embellish it. The Pedro one on the other hand is disgusting and he deserves punishment for it. So was the Morata one a penalty? Quite possibly, they definitely get given. Was it a yellow for a dive? Was it bollocks, joke if a decision.

The problem is, we've seen Morata stay on his feet when he wants to, so it's a lot easier for both us and the ref to identify when he's gone to ground like a chump.
He'll come good in time, in my opinion it's a similar scenario to Pedro's first season.
No one is playing particularly well (apart from the odd few: Christensen, Thibaut, Azpi etc) so it's easier to look at him and call him a flop because confidence is generally low.
We saw Pedro revitalised in his second season and he showed us what a player he is, mark my words, same will happen with Morata, whether that be in a couple of games' time or (unfortunately) under a new manager next season.

Drogs only scored more than 12 PL goals in a season twice in his eight seasons with us ...  and had 10 in 26 games in his first season. Alvaro has 10 in 18+2 games in his first season so far ... :)

If a player is proclaiming to you as a Ref that it was a penalty. You should look at the VAR.
If the player was lying and you can see them dive, VAR will clearly show that.
So you have to ask yourself as a ref that if you've got camera technology now available, why would the player bother lying as it will clearly show a replay and they'll get penalised?

I would even go as far to say that Pedro's dive should be a straight red for blatant cheating. When it is as clear as that you have to think it's fair.

Forget the yellow for diving all together, make it clear their is no grey area with diving.

Yup, and do you not remember the flack Drogba got in his first few seasons?  Remember how much better he got when he cut most of that out of his game?   Also would say Drogba contributed a lot more than just goals.

Has there been any discussion on the earlier incident with Morata in the box? I was convinced that one was a penalty. Not sure about the second one but I didn't see it as a dive.

Oh no, no discussion whatsoever

Will miss tomorrow's game with a back injury... Probably got it from all that falling over.

My first thought when he got sent off last week was “well, at least he’ll get a nice rest for Arsenal”, and now this happens.

Strangely this might just work in Bat's favour with back to back matches though of course I would have preferred Morata.

Had a quick look and fond this:

Yeah maybe he will stop forcing the issue as much and just relax and let a goal come to him. Did well on the build up and assist to Willian last week but definitely forced a shot a couple times.  Here’s to a brace for him tomorrow, eh?

I highly suspect the Morata back injury is just an excuse from Conte. I wouldn't be surprised that Conte simply lost his patience with the kid.

When you're not a priority in these must-win big games then your value has gone down and the manager doesn't trust you anymore.

It personally doesn't bother me to be honest.

That’s an absurd theory

While you're at it can you please give us your stance on the below:

- Mourinho
- Emenalo
- The board
- The FA
- Refs and the VAR
- Strikers from the Carrol/Crouch school of football
- You're ideal transfer window
- You're ideal manager and how long you want them to stay for

Just so we can get all the theories out of the way early on and we don't get ambushed by something ridiculous in future.

Edit: Oh an also Lukaku, KDB, Salah, Cuadrado while you're at it

Moratas had a rough start to the new year no doubt but he’s gonna be fine he’s young it’s his first year in the league and first as the main striker for a top club
