Haha maybe, and besides, you lot love going out on penalties against Portugal don't you?

We don't discriminate, we'll go out to pretty much every team on penalties with Hart and shoulders in goal.

Fair point too but, having shown that we struggle to break down defence in depth, why would a team play open football against us?

Not open football per se but teams with more attacking intent committing more players forward in situations when they have possession.

The likes of Spain and Germany won't sit eleven players behind the ball for most of a game and invite us to break them down.

I should add Spud that the other question that poses is how our defence will cope against sides that attack us more? They have been pretty much untested over the three group games.

That's true. That makes sense - hopefully we'll play a team in those conditions.

Think henderson and wilshire should stay well clear of the first eleven terrible players.

it was a gamble with Roy changing so many players 6 changes. Granted (sterling and possibly kane offered nothing in first 2 games). But the other 4 ? why break momentum ??

England are really lacking an it player, a Hazard, a Bale, a Neymar, a Reus.

With one of them, I'd have them 2nd favroites behind Spain.

I'm sure Bale is half English? Maybe Adam can confirm that for us.

Yeah, we should beat them, but we should have comfortably won all 3 of our group games too.

True, Portugal are even worse in front of goal though, unless they give it to Ronaldo, they're clueless.

Congratulations to Wales who, on their way to topping the group table scored 5 goals against two teams we only managed to score one against. So much for our supposed strike power up front then.

We've drawn two and won one, when in all three games we dominated possession. In ko stages, draws = extra time and penalties. I will try and be more optimistic! :-)

To be fair Bale scored three of them and he is generally rated as one of the top six players in the world. Justifiably too IMO

Might have already been said but all three teams we have played parked the bus. Wales didn't have that. So not too down, we can beat the next team is it Portugal or Hungry or Albania ?  the issue is we are now potentially in the same side of the draw as Germany, France and Spain.

More than Wales finishing top of the group what would be more upsetting is if one of the home nations goes further than us, Potentially Wales could play Northern Ireland.

But never mind. all good teams are slow burners and I am still cautiously optimistic

I've just seen extended highlights of Wales v Russia. Quite a spectacle and Ramsay was very impressive, as was the whole team in terms of work rate. Russia were all over the shop but Wales were impressive; their confidence must be soaring.

So after three games, does Hodgson have any idea what his best team is?

Question marks over all of the front three and maybe even the balance of midfield.

He hasn't been able to work that out for 3 years.

Lack of width is just as big a killer as lack of star quality.

Townsend should have gone for me, he scored some really good solo goals for Newcastle and England don't really have that style of player in the squad, the unpredictablilty.

On another note tho, how handy would Andy Carroll have been in the last ten minutes?

You know I have a love hate relationship with Ronaldo he's by far the best player I've ever seen I've. He's such an arrogant prick in one monent then he's doing things like paying for kids operations the next. But even with that his talent cannot be denied, I have no problem with people having a different opinion on who the best player in the world is. But I have a problem when people try to claim he's not one of the greatest of all-time.

Ronaldo will never be considered one in the greatest of all time. That is an insult to pele, Messi Maradona, cruyff, etc. They are comfortably a level above Ronnie.

Ronaldo is a great goal scorer, as was Muller, no one would put Muller up with the best of the best. Ronaldo is a great goal scorer but in recent years is not a great footballer.

Sadly this forum has a lot of Ronnie fanboys who are blind to the facts. Even though Ronaldo was poor in almost all the big games RM played last season, and actually weakens Portugal, because he can score a hat trick against a weak team, when RM are already winning. Ronnie scores a lot of goals but last season almost all his goals had no impact on the outcome of the game. Any top striker, if they were made the main man at RM should score for fun. Ronaldo was amazing at United, and in the first few years at RM, but he is half the player he once was.

In your opinion.

To say Ronaldo won't be considered one of the greatest of all time is laughable.

If you're gonna insult me by been an arrogant know it all and not willing to have a proper conversation then in future don't respond to me.

Ignore him bobby hes obviously either a child or an idiot. Anyone who uses the word fanboy is a tool, simple as that.
