February 11, 201610 yr jose was one of us, he is not now. If he goes to united, as much as i have loved him i really hope he falls flat on his face. Problem is though as we all know this is not going to happen. United will let him sell who he wants and buy who he wants, and give him time. United will become a force again lead by a jose rejuvenated rooney playing like he is 21 again. Only city and pepe will be capable of stopping them, i certainly can not see us competing the way we are at the moment. We will just have to hope that jose continues to be a 3 season wonder, problem is though it will be just our luck that he goes the distance there. What will really rile me is the united fans hypocrisy. If jose does go to united i predict that an awful lot of chelsea fans will end up hating him.
February 11, 201610 yr I'll never hate Jose, that is simply ridiculous. The club sacked him twice, not like he left of his own accord.
February 11, 201610 yr jose was one of us, he is not now. If he goes to united, as much as i have loved him i really hope he falls flat on his face. That's where I am. IF Utd happened to make it to CL final and they were up against a foreign side (or even the Gooners or Heaven forbid the dippers) I would want them and him to win. But bar that, I hope it all goes as badly wrong at Utd as it did here this season and ultimately, I think it will.
February 11, 201610 yr He must have seen the error of his ways surely. Problem is Jose is a very stubborn man and he believes in his methods. Unless he learns to not burn players out mentally then it will end in tears. I wonder Sir Alex will help guide him.
February 11, 201610 yr Ferdie was able to rebuild squads and didn't need to throw crazy money at the problem either, when other clubs spent more. I was a massive fan of Jose, I'm just not who like him makes excuses when it all goes wrong. Well, just as an example, Fergie did spend 30million pounds on a CB before Roman even stepped foot in London to buy a FC.... so yes, Fegie heavily relied on his financial advantage to leverage his great success and did so long before the BPL became a foriegn billionaire playground.

United regularly ran a transfer deficit under Fergie. (I'm actually curious now if that's a sign of a good manager) I've looked into a dozen seasons under him and there were two things I noticed. Firstly there was almost always a headline player or two coming in every summer without fail in addition to what was required. Second, he generally replaced the players he sold like for like with better players. Sell Berbatov and Park, sign RVP and Kagawa. Sell O'Shea and Obertan? Buy Phil Jones and Ashley Young. I guess the lesson is keep your squad on their toes.
February 11, 201610 yr If you want to downplay what Fergie did for Utd there's no way anyone can defend Jose with regards to spend. Please don't, it's just silly. Every club relies on financial advantage but did Fergie heavily rely on it? Hell no he didn't. He brought through so much youth and didn't throw his dummy out when he couldn't replace Rio who was banned for 8 months with another star. Also when Roman came along Fergie didn't need 100m to rebuild the squad and win 3 titles in a row. Edited February 11, 201610 yr by KonaKai Blue

Must have been. Fergie was in his third full season at the club. The club are 15th in the league. They're two points above relegation. He's taken a club tipped for the title to the brink of relegation. So they sack him. Point is Fergie was given a lot of leeway to make that club his own. When our under-qualified Technical Director tries to sack, the owner stops him. We've literally sacked two of the most knowledgeable men in world football in five years and Emenalo can't even quit the bloody job! Edited February 11, 201610 yr by ShedEnder91
February 11, 201610 yr Jose help win a lot of trophies in his time with us but wishing him good luck with the Mancs would stick in my throat.
February 11, 201610 yr The contract he signed is irrelevant, we all know Roman will fire any coach who isn't getting the job done, regardless of the contract they are sitting on. Yes I know. But why would he sign contract if he could just leave instead of sabotaging entire season for his club. I'm just saying it was a huge blow to his career. Now when people look at the Chelsea of last year and what happen this season they are surly blaming Jose for that which is not good for his record. I just don't see him doing this on purpose. He could just leave when there was no support for him from the board during the transfer window. He could go to other club for a season and wait for United job.
February 11, 201610 yr So you have to go back nearly 30 years in a totally different era when finances and everything else was totally different to draw a comparison.
February 11, 201610 yr like many have stated before I was gutted when he left the first time. The second time not really,it was inevitable. he'd lost the dressing room and nine games out of 16 ffs!, and regardless of what his most ardent fans say about the players and the board he cant be completely blameless for that.
February 11, 201610 yr For all of Jose's positives it was amazingly weary watching him this season. Even during pre season he didn't seem to have it going on. I'm aware he had personal issues due to his father's poor health, but after the achievement of winning the season José just didn't appear to have another season in him. As for his potential move to Man Utd..... honestly I'm not all that fussed. He was a glorious chapter of our past but we're looking at the future. It won't be the first time we've faced him competitively and I have serious doubts on how long he will last or how long they'll put up with the dross that he sometimes makes his players serve up in the name of winning. Yes the point is to win but I'd also like to be entertained where possible. United players must win with flair, just ask Van Gaal!! Many fans will think this is heresy but José has always been about proving José is the best. The clubs success always felt a little like a byproduct. I'm not saying he didn't care about the club, but it was always José vs Arsenal, José vs City, etc I wanted José to lead us onto another era of success, to prove our doubters wrong and go the distance, show everyone he could be the long serving type but it wasn't to be. He won't last at any club. By 2020 he'll be managing PSG.
February 11, 201610 yr I would struggle to see Jose manage another PL team regardless of whether he does well or not.
February 11, 201610 yr I absolutely hate that we pushed him away to United. Thinking he will be a massive failure like LVG there is wishful thinking.
February 12, 201610 yr I absolutely hate that we pushed him away to United. Thinking he will be a massive failure like LVG there is wishful thinking. With massive budget he will probably win CL with United. Imagine he gets Stones, Pogba, Ronaldo or Griezmann. United is ready to spend massive amount over the summer. They desperately want to win PL and with Pep at United they will be more aggressive during the transfer window.
February 12, 201610 yr Jose Mourinho won us 3 premier league titles. I will always support him and hope he is successful. Our board were stupid enough to say they didnt want him so he has every right to work for another prem club. Good luck to him and I'll happily sing his name whenever he returns to the Bridge. Just because our board treats our club legends like sh*t doesnt mean us fans have to as well. Lamps went to City and still got a great ovation, so why not Jose?
February 12, 201610 yr Wasn't he sacked on 30th December 1989?1986-2013- Man Utd. Unless Utd sacked and re-hired him...
February 12, 201610 yr I think he was being sarcastic about it, how his first three years were similar but he didn't get sacked Anyway difficult to compare then to now. In the current climate Jose IS a long term manager. He became the longest serving manager in spain, was one of our longest serving of recent times and by the time he left was in the top 5 longest serving pl managers..
