August 31, 20169 yr This whole thing is bemusing. One thing i would say about David Luiz is that he was certainly a big game player, cant deny that.
August 31, 20169 yr Going forward he was great; good dribbling, passing, shooting....but his defending was suspect more times than not. I would take him back happily for 30M, and use him as a utility player, or just in midfield. He was good for morale and team spirit as well, definitely. * Although I think Sky are totally bullsh*tting on this rumour.

On the other hand he's not brilliant defensively and him going forward all the time has cost us goals (and created some). None the less I would probably be happy to have him back although his goal celebration against us (having said he will not celebrate). Thought i'd look at some numbers on Luiz and it's funny that statistically he is on par with the likes of Terry, Benatia, Aldereiweld etc. Take that with a grain of salt though, because the records we keep re defenders aren't all that useful or descriptive. If you dig a bit deeper and look at his interceptions he has averaged somewhere between 2-3 interceptions/game. In comparison, most other CBs average between 1-2, which is a crazy difference. It probably points to his high-risk, high-line style of defending. We all know he's capable of pulling off interceptions 1, 2 and 3 when he charges out from the defensive line, but it's on chance number 4 he's all too often out of position and the ball finds the attacker. I was one of the few on here who was against us selling Luiz at the time. I thought that time and patience would mellow him and that as he approached his 30s he would be a top class defender. However it's clear after watching him over the last two years he hasn't changed one bit from the player that left here 2 years ago.
August 31, 20169 yr To be fair to him, he has achieved an awful lot with his playing style, and PSG chose to pay 50M for him. Who are we to tell him how to play haha. If I was him I would be thinking "I better not change how I approach games and play..... cause these guys are paying big bucks for what I have done up to now"
August 31, 20169 yr When you play for PSG I think there is no need to change. Doubt there is a single game a season where they get pegged back. But he has been involved in games against Barcelona et al for PSG and I think they have gotten results out of it. Can't remember which ones he was injured for. Edited August 31, 20169 yr by Stim

Don't get me wrong, he can do amazing stuff, only problem is that he f***s up too much for us to see them. Honestly I don't think he's coming anyway, so for me none of this is relevant.
August 31, 20169 yr Love the guy personally, wouldn't mind having him back. Fee is a bit much but we've left it too late so can't be worrying about that now.

August 31, 20169 yr he's worked with laurent blanc, carlo ancelotti, rafael benitez and jose mourinho. but yeah, maybe antonio conte is the man to teach this guy how to defend...

August 31, 20169 yr Would take him in a heartbeat. Loved the guy. Don't care for others opinions, I thought he was brilliant.
August 31, 20169 yr This would make me happy. A smile from David Luiz makes the shadows of last season blow away. :D
August 31, 20169 yr For CB - bad idea. For the midfield - just do it! He was awesome the time he played there. Selling Matic and bring David back will be a great business. At least he will shoot from long range and I miss that part of the game so bad.

On one leg. Our greatest night - He bossed it. Like i said, he knows how to play big games (not including WC semis!) His personality too, we couldve done with a bit of that last season. Just a bit of life. Then im reminded of the positioning. QPR away. The playstation comment. Im torn G4. Help me. But this is all just a story thats gotten a little out of control , right ? August 31, 20169 yr Worst possible option. We fleeced PSG for him. Bringing him back would be embarrassing.
August 31, 20169 yr Just can,t see this happening. We will end up with some Emenalo has been from a second tier team like Hector from Reading or Miazga from the MLS

August 31, 20169 yr Would absolutely love him back - adore the guy! My head says maybe not but my heart is saying yes, yes, yes far louder and telling my head to shut the f**k up!
