July 23, 20178 yr Hey guys I'm new here. I followed this forum for quite some time now as a "passive member" but eventually decided to sign up. I also believe that chances on signing Sandro are really slim. I used to state that Alonso's last season was stronger than Moses', but after yesterday's match I#m not so sure (even if it was only the first game). What it clearly showed was that we cannot rely on Kenedy as a backup. It's really unfortunate that Baba is injured cause in my opinion he started to look really good, but right now one cannot know. In my opinion Ryan Bertrand would be an obvious option, and contrary to others I don't think he's only mediocre. Imo he has all the assets a strong full back and the pace a WB needs, and provide fair challenge to Alonso. One player I'm even more impressed by though is his RWB teammate Cedric Soares! I think he looks absolutely great and I really really hope we consider that option

It is important we get the backups for wing backs in quite quickly, our whole system of play revolves around this position. Kenedy as you quite rightly stated isn't upto the job, his efforts yesterday added confirmation.I honestly wouldn't now waste minutes on him in matches in pre season. Trouble is the bar has now been set as to the value of this position by City's purchases and getting a backup might be very hard cheaply.

It does, and will do so even more should we switch to 3-5-2 this season, which personally I hope. In my opinion both would be very strong transfers and against Alonso and Moses both would have a 50% first team chance (why by a clear back-up if you can go for healthy competition). It's just a shame they both play for Soton, which makes getting both veeeerry unlikely, but one of them would be great to start with
July 23, 20178 yr Just spend the 100+ mil it takes to land Sandro + Felipe Anderson. Attacking wingbacks are going to be very important for us when we have Bakayoko, Kante or "Matic" in central midfield. Morata for Oscar + Traore Bakayoko for "Costa" Rudiger for Ake + Begovich Surplus : Cuadrado 17mil, Chalobah fee, Solanke Tribunal fee, Lukaku sell on fee, Atsu, 6mil, Loan Fees Add all of this to our big increase in revenue this year from CL, sponsorship etc. Edited July 23, 20178 yr by comtrend
July 23, 20178 yr I think i have given up on this transfer now. To be honest i don't really know many other good LWB who we could buy.You haven't watch Alaba play?

During the 11/12 season when it was clear we needed a new RB how many people thought of Azpi? If we can't get Sandro im sure Antonio and our scouts have contigency plans.

Yes this is probably true but by whom and for what purpose? Maybe in the hope that a deal could be done, but with which club?

July 24, 20178 yr As I said before, rumour has it that Chelsea are expected to have a conference call with Juve today. Take it with a grain of salt but I fully expect one last bid to be placed for Sandro and it wouldn't be out of the question that Matic is involved.
July 24, 20178 yr There has got to be something brewing in relation to this transfer otherwise Sandro would have signed the new contract by now, either we are in negotiations with Juve over the sale or Sandro's team are negotiating a better deal at Juve.

July 25, 20178 yr Telegraph are reporting that we're still confident in bringing in Alex Sandro Also says we want Candevra and Llorente
July 25, 20178 yr We gonna have to pay big bucks for him, likely more than mendy + matic would be my guess.

July 25, 20178 yr I think we'll be looking at the thick end of €70m making him the world's most expensive defender...saying that if we can flog Matic to manure for £50m then that's most of the fee covered...

If we do buy him for say £65m, I think that's a fair price for arguably the best LB/LWB in the world. Considering City bought Walker and Mendy for around £50m
