Pleased with this one. He was decent at Arsenal without ever being excellent, but I think Conte will improve him immensely.

Can sort of see why people may be underwhelmed but I'm not and think it will prove to be a good move for us and him. It's the Drinkwater transfer that I'm nonplussed about, and I bet Conte is too.

While I'm excited about this, I understand not everybody sharing my opinion. All I hope is that people give him a chance and support him, cause I think he deserves at least that much.

Let's not write him off already and get behind him, regardless of whether you think it's a sh*t signing or not. It's a step up for Ox, we're a better club, with higher expectations and with a more competent manager. Ox was going nowhere with Arsenal, Wenger couldn't get the best out of him, Conte could take him to the next level.

However, i don't disagree with their assessments. We were saying similar things about Oscar i remember.

Oscar left us for China, Ox is leaving a sinking ship to join the Premier League champions, who can blame him?

The big difference was that Ashley Cole was already world class when we signed him.

Tbf, Ashley played for years at LB before coming to us, Ox was shifted around and had injuries, can't be good for his development

Happy with this, i can see Conte getting a lot more out of him than Wenger ever could, and I'm sure we will look on this as very astute signing by the end of the season.

But you could also say that if he was good enough, he wouldn't have been shifted around so much. If he was good enough, he would have cemented a spot in the first team, but he's not been good enough to do that.

he will be around much better players here and that will improve him, as well as having a coach and coaching staff whom can teach him the defensive side as well as improving his overall game. conte has turned helped to improve players, i am sure he'll do the same with chamberlain.

Where will he play then?
RWB rotating with Moses?
In a power midfield 3 with Kante & Baka?
In a midfield 2 with Kante/Baka/Fab?
As a right forward instead of Willian or Pedro?
I have always rated him and with the coaching & discipline Conte will give him I think he can really flourish.

He will actually improve his game here

You could also say is the other options for the positions he was put at were so piss poor, the lack of quality players is what cost him

I agree with that but it's Arsenal. Who knows what Arsene is thinking. I don't rate him as high as well but he's just going to have to prove us both wrong

Well i gotta admit, i'm not excited at all by this transfer. I have said it before and i'll say it again, he's very average at pretty much everything. He isn't great at one thing, just average at everything.
He's had six very underwhelming years at Arsenal and if he wasn't English, then i don't think we would be going anywhere near him.
Hopefully he proves me wrong, but other than adding depth and home grown players, i don't see anything to get excited about.

He will definitely prove you wrong.

let's be honest, ozil was a world class player at real madrid. at arsenal he's just another player. even petr cech has looked like a second tier keeper.

Will turn out to be a good a buy and if nothing else it will add competition for places making others work hard and stay focused

If it's true he turned down 180k to come here and I know he will not get anywhere near that here then that alone says he's here for the right reasons not money

I bet you are very happy, since you convinced yourself there would be no more signings.

either at RWB or AM as cover...

Can also potentially cover LWB if Marcos need a rest or get a niggle..

dont think he will be good at CM..
