WC 2018

In the last 12 months:
England seniors Fifa WC 2018 3rd/4th
England U20's Fifa WC 2017 winners
England U19 Uefa European Championship 2017 winners
England U17's Fifa WC 2017 winners

Can't complain at that.

It's not coming home and it never was. And I am glad I don't have my car parked in Stevenage High Street tonight.

We played two good teams, very good teams in the tournament and lost to both. But I do think the English national team might have turned a corner. The people are back behind the team. They are playing with a system they understand. That is a good thing. Roll on the Euro Championship.

Perisic was the difference in the 2nd half. We couldn't control him.

We have to buy Harry Maguire. He is not the finished article but soon will be.

Would rather get Maguire than that Rugani guy. Built like a tank, but he is a good defender and can pass the ball too.

Some good points already made and I will restate the ones I agree with my own view.

Harry Kane looked off the pace today nothing obvious, just looked tired yet as captain and leading goal scorer he was our talisman so can understand why he played.

I also wanted Shelvey to go yet that boat sailed long ago.

First half we played well and needed to score another, unfortunately once out of the group stages our motley crew of young attackers (HK, RS, JL, DA) lacked composure to set up decent chances and today it cost us.

Second half like Belgium yesterday we seemed off the pace and Croatia dominated, I assume their coach earned his crust at half time.

They created better chances and justifiably equalised and yes a defensive error led to our downfall yet I'm not sure we would have scored a winner any way.

I was hoping RLC might come on so we could hold on to the ball better though that might not have helped.

Rose for Young was ok and Dier for Henderson made sense. Surprised Rashford came on and then more surprised to also see Vardy.

Bad luck Trippier getting injured after the last sub.

Pickford, Maguire and Trippier should all see their value now increase.

Given our young team we probably over achieved in the group of 16 knocking out Columbia. We had club subs in Rashford and Lingard, we had Walker playing out of position and no natural playmaker.

I don't think we will win anything under Southgate yet respect for him in this tournament and expect him to stay to take on the Euros.

Wouldn't go that far, Maguire is quality on his day but when he's bad he's pretty awful tbh.

Not really. Moments where he switches off? Yeah OK. But he is still progressing. I can show you video clips of JT when he was 24/25 and he was the same.

Maguire > Luiz..... by miles...... Already!

The way it's going your better off not bothering with big center backs unless they can play football, Maguire cannot play football, i can see why you get excited, i was, but seriously think about it, as soon as we play a proper team he would become a waste of a place, i want every player we buy from now on to be a very competent football players, and if Sarri is our manager thats what he will be wanting.

But Maguire can play. For a big guy, he is actually pretty good with the ball at his feet. He plays out from the back really well from what i can see. I actually think he is more competent at it than Stones, and that is supposed to be Stones strong point.

3rd extra time game in a row for Croatia and still outran English players...With Spuds as core players no wonder.

Caffeine, sugar, alcohol all feed infections.

Dodgy vaccinations too, they carry animal viruses my daughter is not vaccinated and used to run rings around her friends and win most competitions at school.

Ahh disappointing. Croatia are a good side and deserved to beat us over the 120 minutes.

We had to make more of the first half. Be more clinical and then they would be done and out of the game. But our attack was not good enough. Lingard the worse offender.

We needed a spark, the end product faded and the subs offered nothing. As much stick as sterling gets he is a threat. Rashford was poor. I hoped to see RLC but alas not to be.

Ahh well good luck Croatia. But I reckon Kante and giroud come back with winners medals.

Edit: also as We have to play the pointless 3rd place game I hope Southgate rewards the squad and the first 11 by resting the later for the former. Leave out all first 11 and give the other guys a game.

Unlucky England. As a 'neutral' I would have loved an England France final.

Now I have no choice but to go for France. I need N'golo to have another reason to smile.

A part of me feels that the final can be very one-sided, France so far didn't even sweat much but Croatia played 3 draws and three 120 min games...

Could be but the media had us believe we would run rings round them as they would be tired but we looked way more tired than them.

this team has some sort of good future, can't say bright because they just have to get rid of some overrated scrubs like Sterling, Henderson, Lingard, Ali, Young, Stones and Walker. Well, actually that is half the team and beyond but they've got options.

Amazing job by Southgate to get this bad team to the semis. By their quality I rank them somewhere between 8 and 12 spot on this tournament. But keep that in mind:

1) they will never get again two bonus teams in group stage

2) the teams will figure these corners out, and England didn't show they know how to score apart of the set pieces.

3) they will never get Colombia and Sweden or alike so deep in the eliminations again

4) the expectations are now probably higher than what this group deserves. I mean the players I ordered up there - these are 7 out of 11, that I'd immediately get off the team. It's too much.

So you gave England better odds?

No, would've just been more fun to watch but would probably still be france. I'd just have someone with a connection to to cheer for

Very disappointing last night.

England looked good early and got the perfect start.

They had a couple of chances to make it 2-0 before half time. Didn't (obviously)

Croatia came into it, got their equaliser and grew in confidence as England faded.

Hope the media don't carry on flogging a dead horse. Already getting fed up with the "we should be so proud - it's been a wonderful journey" etc etc..............

Sure, we did okay - a LOT better than recent history. But although there have no doubt been improvements and I do like what Southgate is doing, we are still far from great. Let's face it, we got lucky with the draw and that luck carried on meaning we avoided all of the big teams but still come unstuck when we faced a side who had a bit more about them. Don't think you can expect to win a tournament if you don't have at least one really creative player and we are clearly lacking in that department. IF some players had been on top form last night it might have been a different story but it was disappointing from Ali, Kane and Lingard (who struggles to get in the Utd team on a regular basis). Looks like Kane will pick up the golden boot and yet I thought for the large part he was disappointing other than taking a good penalty.

Yeah, this is why Ampadu will be liked by Sarri, and he's 17. No need for Maguire, we have Zouma who is a better defender if needs be. Sarri improved Koulibaly, so no reason he can't improve our current defenders. People think Sarri is just attack, attack, attack, but he has made Napoli a competent defensive side too.
