No different to calling someone a parasite etc

You know you don't mean that.  You're an educated lad, and you know there is a universe of difference between calling someone a parasite and claiming they are cancer.

So now stop being argumentative for provocation's sake.

Among w**kers, maybe.  In civilised conversation it's a disgusting misuse of what is possibly the worst thing that could happen to someone.

If you have family history and still treat that sort of comment as not offensive, then I'm not sure you understand the consequences.

Or perhaps, in a world where everyone is offended by everything, I choose to not let one small comment on a football forum upset me?

Might be "one small comment" to you, it's life  and death for some people.  And has no place in commenting about a player's abilities in a football forum.

I hope you never have to experience cancer yourself, but you might not find it so funny if you do.

Now you're putting words in my mouth.  I quite literally stated in my initial post that me and my family have been directly affected by cancer, and not once have I said anything about it is funny.  Please get off your soap box, for once, and just accept that people will have differing opinions to you.

I will leave it at that, the thread should move back to the topic - Emerson.

Why? I couldn't agree more with this bit:

If Emerson cant get in over him, we have to move him on, FWIW, I'd play Emerson Thursday and if he performs well, leave him in the team,

Yeah like you completely missed out the part where he used a god awful cancer analogy while saying he wasn't being hyperbolic...

Definitely no agenda on your end whatsoever mate, I'll wait for the next time you like a post of someone saying they should assassinate Alonso because they also added "I don't think he should be in the first 11" at the end.

I don't take too much issue with him using the word cancer lightly because many people do, it's often used in analogies. I mean I wouldn't use it myself because I know it might upset some people, you have to be considerate when you post.

I just mostly took issue with the fact how he started off by saying "I'm not being hyperbolic but... He's a cancer"... Which was just utterly ridiculous, it's similar to people calling Drinkwater, Cahill and Willian petty names when criticising them, so childlike and exaggerated.

Agreed. It should be possible to make a constructive suggestion about the team without adding such crude remarks about our own players. I would like to see Emerson get a chance over Alonso, but if Alonso gets picked I will be supporting him.

I do accept that, what i don't accept is people using cancer as a derogatory term about a f**king football player.  There's football and then there's the real world, serious, grown-up sh*t.  Cancer is that, not some sort of teenage slang term for "just a bit pants, really"

Well I do, and many people perform atrocities throughout history, doesn't make it right.

Too much of my family history has been blighted by cancer to put up with some twat using it as a light-hearted witticism, and then for some other tit to jump in and defend it is almost worse.  At least the the original poster thought he was being clever and witty.

Apologies if the cancer remark (re: Alonso) has upset people, it wasnt my intention. Its safe to say everyone has been affected by it at some stage either through a friend or family member suffering.

Again, apologies for that loosely constructed analogy.

Good man.

That's good, because then maybe you can also accept that, just like you have every right to be offended by it, I have every right to not be offended by the same thing.

I offered my view on the post, and never even tried to be "clever and witty".  Because I'm not offended and acting like the world is ending because somebody used a phrase that could be considered in poor taste, somehow that means I am "defending" him.  Stop acting like you're the only one who has been affected by the disease.  You don't get to decide how everyone responds and reacts to the post(s).

So he's Not good enough for us, but will get more game time at a better team, go figure that out.

Ummm he will? You have seen who Juve's first choice LB is yeah?

Thanks and well  done, mate- it's always easy to just pick the wrong phrase,  I do it all the time.  And I'm sorry I went off on one at you - it touched a nerve at the time.

I'm more upset about you going on about your "right" to be offensive,  just because you don't think anyone SHOULD be offended  by any such term.  But then that is indicative of the self-centred society that we are becoming, where common decency is described as "acting as if the world is ending", completely ignoring the fact that for a huge number of people affected by cancer that is EXACTLY what happens, their world ENDS.

If you are comfortable with that level of ignorant disregard for the way that people are affected by this vile disease,  then I am really glad that you are just some idiot on an internet forum and not someone I will  ever have to know personally.

But still, as long as you have "the right" to be a f**kwit, you go ahead. That's the last I'll say on this.

Why would someone want to assassinate Alonso? Some strange thoughts going on in your head. I'm worried about you.

Can you please make it clear that the bolded bit is untrue. I never said such a thing and you're falsely tarnishing my good name.

I have seen Chelsea's first choice too, he gets picked because of his name. Unless Emerson is injured, he will get more time than he's at Chelsea.

Mate, well done thanks for that, i was pretty sure you didn't mean it, I had a regional manager use the term once when describing newspapers in an office!!!! I sat there in disbelief in the meeting when he said it.

Or maybe he just gets picked because despite hiw awful form he's still actually a better option?

Emerson has looked crap when playing and that's against Championship level opposition, he's literally Baba again in terms of how people are desperately trying to convince themselves he's any good because of the desperation to see his competition dropped.

And no, he wouldn't get any meaningful game time at Juve unless Sandro is injured or suspended.

Got his chance tonight, and he took it. He was excellent, especially in the second half. There was some great link up play with Hazard and a few of his crosses were fantastic and deserved to be scored from. You could see his confidence growing as the game went on.

He deserves to keep his spot in the team after that.

He had a couple of giveaways in the first half, but battled and showed a lot going forward. That last chance doesn't happen without him on the field.

Pleased with his performance.

Emerson is a better option than alonso. Sarri has no excuse now to not be giving him a run of games.

Even Azpiliucueta times his runs better tonight and actually got his head up to pick out hazard rather than just put it in an area.
