Can we ask that octopus who predicted the world cup, or has he been eaten?

Are we still talking about Emerson starting tonight or about that royal foetus?

I thought Emerson was excellent last night especially 1st half. He times his runs well, and put 2 on plate for giroud and Pedro. He also has the pace to get back in position. We haven't seen a lot of him with the 1st 11, so it is difficult to judge whether he would be a better option. Alonso hasn't done a lot wrong, but I do feel his lack of pace hurts us defensively at times, because if an attack breaks down, he can't recover which means jorginho or Luiz get pulled out wide to cover.

Hopefully with this busy period coming up, we will get to see Emerson against better opposition.

He offers more than Alonso for sure, because for one he actually overlaps the LW. I actually thought Zappacosta done okay too. It was against a 10 man PAOK, so hard to gage either one properly though.

I thought zappacosta's final ball was pretty poor. He has plenty of energy but I think he lacks quality.

Zappa is just not Chels standard......Emerson is much better imo and should be utilized more, even if its so that Alonso can take a break and recharge.

Him and CHO linked up very well down the left I thought. He should be given more of a chance in the league this season against the so called ‘lower’ opposition.

Why cants Emerson get a PL game......he really should be utilized more now that Alonso seems out of it........and Zappa is just Zappa.

Rumours today that he might be sold to Juventus.

Starting to become quite apparent that for whatever reason Sarri doesn't seem to trust him so maybe best to move him on.

No idea who we'd bring in a replacement though, Emerson to me seemed a more than competent player and probably deserves to have had more chances in the first team in the league.

We have to remember that the manager works with these players every day so will be in a much better postion to judge how good of a fit they are. We've only seen bits and pieces and he's not looked brilliant.

So he's Not good enough for us, but will get more game time at a better team, go figure that out. If 15M is the figure, we are losing money on a player yet to enter his best year. The next day Sarri will defend Alonso because apparently we don't have another option, genius!

We could've said this about Salah and look at him now? Never got played, and when he did play he was dreadful (in his 2nd season anyway), but that was most likely to do with the fact that he got reserved to just cup games and could barely make our bench.

Sometimes managers make mistakes, sure they're definitely more qualified than us and they get to see the players more but if we went by your logic how on earth could we ever have a discussion? What would be the point in our opinions if the manager is always right because he's there? I think many people would agree Sarri's biggest mistakes are not rotating enough.

I never said the manager is always right, but his judgement is much better informed and certainly carries far more weight than fans who have only seen glimpses of a player on matchdays. I don't understand why you think this 'logic; is controversial.

I don't think it's controversial, I see what you're saying, maybe I'm going off on to many of your posts and making a bold judgement but it seems to me that appears to be your only answer when the fans criticise the manager's decisions.

Even though it's valid I think it's somewhat pointless, because it's also very valid that the manager could be terribly wrong on not playing Emerson more. I mean we aren't really rotating enough as it is in my opinion.

I dont think its hyperbolic to suggest Alonso is the worst player that consistently starts for any side in the top 6.

If Emerson cant get in over him, we have to move him on, FWIW, I'd play Emerson Thursday and if he performs well, leave him in the team, Alonso is doing nothing for us but killing us, hes a cancer in this side.

There were murmurs that Emerson was a bit of a party boy. Enjoyed his life a bit too much. I don't know the reason Sarri doesn't use him. He obviously has his reasons and we don't have a backup other than him.

The reason I think the board have more say in who plays is Alonso continually gets played, but it's no coincidence that he signed a new 5 year deal and is pretty much irreplaceable at the moment. I wouldn't put anything past our hierarchy.

If we sell Emerson, let's hope the club buy a left back that ticks all of the boxes. I think the issues at full back and in the wide positions in general are causing us big problems.

We've seen both spurs and arsenal do a number on us now with a 4 4 2 diamond, forcing us to go wide, and congesting the midfield. If we had serious threat from the full backs and wide positions, it would counter that tactic alot imo.

Conte didn't fancy Emerson, and neither does sarri by the looks of it. Should've just paid big money for a top left back when Cole left us. Just like the rest of the squad, we are patching things up year on year.

The first bit, you're wrong it's grossly hyperbolic.  If nothing else, just read in here and Willian and Jorginho both rival him for that title according to the many, many football geniuses we have as members,

but then

f**king CANCER????  Really??  You really are some sort of truly thoughtless and ignorant twat, using something like cancer when talking about a f**king football player.

Regardless of your total lack of insight and awareness, I do hope that neither you or any of your loved ones are ever hit by cancer, so that you never have to personally know how offensive you are.  Prick.
