TBF how many times have we said on this thread and the match day thread that Jorginho's best games are when he has time on the ball and struggles when teams press him. RLC and Kova are probably two of the most press resistant players in the squad with their dribbling ability. Obviously in hindsight it didn't work and is easy to say but the logic is there.

Well I hope you're right as i am unfortunently resigned to this happening but I simply can't see it. If we really insist on going down the English route then we should have looked at his partner from the Euro's.

How about we ignore Jorginho factor for a minute and ask how would it be anything other than a complete depressive failure of our recruitment side if/when he arrives here for not much if atall less than Guimares, Fabinho, Rodri, Thiago Alcantara and Casemeiro combined? I was hoping after Lukaku we learned from going after the romantic options.

I'll be honest i actually agree we can probably find a better player than Rice for both value and stylistic fit for the team. Having said that i think if he does come in then he and Kova would make a good partnership together. Id like to see us go for someone like Maxence Caqueret.

You know best that Jorginho has never doing anything good for any team, never mind that Brazil and Pep wanted him but even his personal decision-making in regards to who to play for you perfecly psychoanalyzed of course.

He's done plenty of good, just nothing game changing or extraordinary in his career. When we compare midfielders of yester-year when we were blessed with Lamps, Ballack, Maka, Mikel, Essien etc. its hard to see a player like Jorginho and be impressed with his average performances week in week out. Obviously these players are before you were a Jorginho sorry i mean Chelsea fan though so you don't have much to compare him to.

That's where you problem lies, you believe that you actually have some standard that you go after, but in reality you fail to give basic appreciation to a player that has contributed a lot to our second CL title in our history. It's either we win despite of Jorginho or we lost because of him, there is no real talk with you ever.

I have never compared any of our current players to the ones you mentioned part from maybe Mount to Lampard. I only wish you were at least consistent once in your life and say the same sh*t things to RLC, but your own filters, accompanied with a lot of selective memories and disgraceful takes are the main reason why I don't even try to actually prove anything to you anymore. Ah well. Time to move on to the next important one. He's gonna start against Arsenal, a team who have successfully targeted him previously. Let's see how it goes. Hopefully, he comes through, controls the midfield and makes us defensively solid. It will help massively if he doesn't have Sterling and Pulisic as wing backs and Cinderella as left centre back. It would help set an example if he went right through the back of Xhaka early doors and cleaned him out. Show he's up for it as Captain.

At this point it feels condescending towards him to keep pretending he's playing well. At times it feels like Mason Mount is a 5 year old that keeps doing sh*t drawings but the club and his fans keep telling him they're great and put them up on the fridge anyway.

Passing percentage is a bit of a useless stat really. A centre back can easily get 95% success making 5/10 yd passes. Mount to his credit tried riskier passes throughout the match and laid on the second goal. As for the MoM we all look at a game differently, it's what makes football such a good game. some of us like dynamic performances, others dribbling skill, etc, whilst others are content to watch 5 yd balls played backward and sideward. Hence we get a lot of differing opinions as to who is the man of the match

I imagine that wasn't counted because aside the deflection, that pass was never meant for Zakaria. 

I agree passing percentage is a pointless stat unless looked deeper into the actual context. 

 

I have seen some members complain about Masons final ball. That he often takes up good positions but overhits simple passes and destroys the chance.

I noticed this a few times against Zagreb, I saw Jorgi doing better with those attempted passes. Mase really needs to work on that as he will go up a level if he can adapt his game to better weighted passing.

From the position Mount was in, you pull the ball back into a dangerous area and hope that an attacker is intelligent enough to run onto it.

Looking at the footage again, it does appear that Mount doesn't once look to see where any of his colleagues or any of the defenders are, at any stage of his run, so he wouldn't even know if he is putting it into a dangerous area or not, seeing as a dangerous area presumably wouldn't be a part of the box where a defender can easily deflect or intercept the cross ?

This is some contrast to our resident female assist queen Guro Reiten for example, who is constantly looking up to check what balls might be on, and is presumably part of why she gets far more assists than Mount from open play. Mount should work on that for sure. "Hit and hope" as a crossing strategy is pretty poor at this level ...
