Jorginho is.... (well now was) a Blue

Its not an isolated game though. Rice consistently has better passing stats and chances created than Jorginho. More assists, xA, open play goals, passing accuracy, interceptions, blocks, clearances tackle win %, dribbles etc. (https://one-versus-one.com/en/compare-players/Jorginho-Frello-Filho-vs-Declan-Rice#:~:text=Frello Filho Jorginho has a pass completion rate of 29,for passes into the box.)

I'm not surprised his tackle, interceptions and especially blocks are higher factoring in the two systems. Wan Bissaka was a statistical menace in a similar system, Liverpool fans (when under Rafa) pulled out stats once of Martin Kelly having more tackles than Rio Ferdinand.

As for goals and assists, ive never known a deep player judged on those before but I'll bite, Joao Moutinho had none of either in the league for AVBs invincible Porto side. Modric (no I'm not saying Jorginho is better) had 3 of each the year before we were so desperate to sign him.

What I'm more interested in, is can we beat going toe to toe with the likes of Real Madrid and City in the biggest moments? Funnily enough his partner at the Euros was a safer bet for our system (due to his experience under Bielsa).

What do you want him to do, publically bash his attacking team mates for not scoring? Its incredibly common for captains and managers to protect their team mates in the public eye then lambast them behind the scenes.

Why can't there be middle ground? He could have gone about it another way than insulting every England supporters intelligence. Let's not pretend Jorginho wouldn't get a pasting if he came out and pretended last weeks performances were great.

God forbid he celebrates a goal either.

Look at our players when they equalise. Almost always it's straight back to the centre as quickly as possible. Even at The Etihad.

Funnily enough look at Jorginho equalising at The Emirates then compare it to Rice against Kidderminster Harries.

Player signs contract, once again not a shock. He has to think about income for himself, what if he tears his ACL and isn't the same player after with only 6 months left on his deal? I'm sure he recognises that now and won't be signing any new extension.

Once again wheres the middle ground? He signed it in 2018, no need to (effectively with the year option) take it to 2025.

He could have negotiated until 2022 or sorted a reasonable ish release clause, both of which would have made him a pretty easy pick up in 2020.

∆ Gol, can you get a photo of Jorginho pointing at the SKY infomation figures. Or better still Jorginho pointing at some player pointing stats?

Love the top graph though. Especially the small print. "Advancing the ball at least 10% closer to the goal"  An EPL pitch is between 112 to 115 yards long, so an 11 yard pass? Which, to be fair, is quite a long distance for a Jorginho pass. Only it doesn't state which goal you are advancing the ball towards? If it's towards the opponent's goal I am skeptical of the figures as it says he is ahead of DeBruyne. If it's towards our own goal, yes I could see that although I would have expected J5 to be a lot higher up on the graph.

And it's Declan "Bomba" Rice. Not Basmati.

Huge stuff up, I mean surely Pulisic was man of the match for his 5 yard pass to Havertz to score a worldie from outside the box

Ziyech for me. In only 3 minutes giving away a foul :tHumBsBeeR:

Didn't want to make you cry, now what am I supposed to do?

Ok ok, let's pretend that basmatiRice is not overcooked for a second... Why is West Ham losing half of their matches while Rice and Soucek are playing while Guimarães is actually going to make a strong push this season? Yeap, remember that name, Bruno Guimarães. 40m transfer to Newcastle and now apparently Real Madrid is interested, turns out there are actual complete DM players in the league, you were just not looking hard enough.

'remember that name' hahaha he's been highly rated since he was at Lyon, this isn't some hidden gem you've just discovered. Everyone was surprised he didn't go to a bigger team than Newcastle.

Conveniently addressing only my last sentence to which I can only respond by...

(Apparently not discovered by you since you have been obsessed by Rice exclusively)

...OK let's see who wins a major title first, Bruno Guimarães or the amazing Declan Rice.

Btw this thread since the end of the game proves a point I made earlier this week. When players I don't rate play well I'll be happy, Jorginho gets MOTM in an important CL game and his 'haters' will still try and go out of their way to discredit him, embarrassing stuff.

Was that "Bambi" pre autocorrect?

You forgot the "on ice" bit.

God loves you Argo (and so do we). But unfortunately he hasn't blessed you with a gift for written humour.

Relax Timeto. SKY sports who Gol will testify, are the "go to" measure for reliable infomation did not make Jorginho MOTM. Kovacic, Silva and Chalobah all had higher ratings. Jorginho tied with Cucurella and Gallagher.

Gianni Infantino and the UEFA box tickers must be spitting feathers.

That what earned you the nickname "smokes"?

You must be confusing me with Kenneth Rothmans. Or Bob Embassy.

Why do you think I don’t rate Bruno Guimaraes? Think isn’t Bruno v Rice lmao

Whenever I want to reflect on the meaninglessness of things I come to the Jorginho thread. After reading any random page I feel better equipped to understand religious wars.

Entering this thread alone should carry a serious health warning. Orwell foresaw this thread back in 1948

The closest Rice has ever been to a title in football was when he lost against Jorginho, it was your typical West Ham setup with <40% possession and the closest he has ever been to CL football was him watching Jorginho being our captain on TV, Bruno Guimaraes will be more involved in major titles and CL football so you really need to listen to your idol:

Gol it should be remembered Rice is still only 23. Not yet at his prime but has played top level football for 4 years and been a regular international, appearing in  Euro final for a team that lost on penalties. Jorgi in comparison decided he couldn’t make the Brazil team so chose Italy at the age of 26 having only been playing top class from 23. He has had a good peak. The time to do a comparison is really when both have had a peak career. Both are good players( you have to be to get to their level).

Should also take into consideration the England set up as well. Averaged only 35% against Italy in the final.

If we are truly going the data driven approach, going after Declan Rice contradicts everything
