Decent in possession but proved again that standing in space 6 - 10 yards from opponents running with the ball and hoping to nick an interception is not a great defensive strategy. And it certainly doesn't help the defenders behind you.

Imo that Arsenal game once again show us what happen when Jorgi play decent game. 

Did we control the game? We had 0 control 

Did we stop Arsenal from creating chances? Arsenal could attack us from everywhere 

Did we at least prevent Arsenal from getting the ball between the line? Nope Arsenal could do whatever they want. 

How about offensively, did we create chances at will? We created nothing. The worse part was I saw ruben sitting close to help Jorgi all game long when we need him to push up more.😭😭

I understand your point but RLC was no better Bob. Yes, in RLC's defense he isn't the "sit and stay" defensive midfielder, but neither have any pace, neither have good tackling technique and neither are naturally athletic. RLC IMO can only really be used higher up the pitch where he is working in an offensive capacity, not a defensive one.

Another really noticeable defensive contrast was how Xhaka and Partey actively hunt the ball higher up the pitch. Many times they closed our players early and nicked the ball, or won a tackle, and that in turn meant a faster attacking transition because of where they are winning the ball. Jorginho simply cannot play that way. He defends a space not an opponent and rarely gets touch tight.

That’s a good analysis. 

Don't give him a new contract. Give RLCa free transfer.

Don't get me wrong ruben was bad but we had cucu and Azpi as fb, surely we can't depend on them offensively hence I want us to push ruben similar to what xhaka does but he kept sitting behind all game long. 

 

With the way Arsenal been pressing and a GK who couldn't pass, I dare say we'd lost via 3 if we didn't play Jorginho. I hope we use the next couple of windows to fix the midfield, instead of throwing money at other positions, e.g. another 60M fullback

Absolutely agree. Yes, other areas still need strengthening, (cover for James at RB, and a striker who's not an over the hill, cast-off), but a top quality DM is so obviously priority number 1. Especially for games against the top teams in the EPL.

There's going to be defenders everywhere in that box, hit it hard and low and pray someone gets on the end of it like Zakaria did.

Aubameyang had actually taken up a great position in that phase of play, and the ball was on for a tap in, only Mount never looked up to see what was on ... nor did he play the ball to Havertz early enough when he was actually open ... instead he took an extra touch, went closer to the byline before his pull-back, which allowed the defender to get into position to intercept. And luckily the richochet fell nicely for Zakaria, who to his credit, had moved forward into the box, which then made it 3 attackers vs 9 defenders in the area at that point ...

Can you tell me when the ball to Auba was on? By the time Mount even gets to the ball he has two defenders in front of him. I'll give you he can probably knock it first time to Havertz but by that time he'd took a touch to get a proper connection on the cross. He hits it with power so even if Kai doesn't get there its making its way to our spare man. Well worked goal and good running and creating from Mount.

If he drills it hard and low, like you suggest, then I don't see how a ball in Auba's direction wouldn't result in a tap-in ... Auba's natural instinct is to be ready for that sort of predatory goal ... 

 

Also, if he hits the pass earlier to Havertz, the defender isn't on the point of changing direction to intercept, and Havertz would have had a free shot (probably would have missed or been saved LOL). By taking an extra touch and then playing the pull-back, the clear path to Havertz becomes blocked.

No chance that defender in front of Auba doesn't get there before him for the first one. 

I do agree with the Kai chance, however i imagine he has as much chance of miss-kicking the ball as he does making that cut back with enough power to him with his body shape from where he's run from.

Regardless of what he wants is time to part ways with him and Kante. Would normally not want Kante to go but these injuries are too much and we cannot rely on him to stay fit.
