We've got a new Kepa

It's the HEAT of the moment and we need to blow off some steam, wait for the highlights to come out and we can analyse them properly.

That being said, we need to ship him off on a 5 year loan deal to whereever Karius is going next so he can warm the bench for his superior.

Maybe so, and trust me I'm venting here and my folks went outside to get away from my frustration at our performance tonight.

But I'm sure I'm not the only one who can see the goals going in before they do. Is it a sixth sense? No, we just know that if it's on target, Kepa probably won't save it. Just look at the TAA free kick: I'm sure you all knew it was going in before he even hit it...

It's that predicatble.

I think many of us were trying to be supportive since it was his first season in the prem and a new team /system.

Look at DDG, he was horrid for the beginning of his time as N1 but he came good.

Kepa doesn't even do the basics right. He's just not a good goalkeeper by any metric, and whoever scouted him and greenlighted the deal should be sacked.

Also, before United signed De Gea, he was absolutely unbelievable at Atletico in his late teens and early 20's, he had a great tournament at the U21 Euro's aswell. Kepa didn't have anything like that, he seemed a propsect but nowhere near the level of De Gea.

Just look at the strength in his hands and wrists for starters. He looks about as strong as a 12 year old.

Agreed. I think we were desperate for a player that could play out from the back to the point where we sacrificed all other qualities to acquire one.

And the best part is, he can't even play out from the back in a decent way. He's hardly a wizard with his distribution is he?

The worst keeper I've ever seen in a Chelsea shirt.

I mean that's not even the tip of the iceberg.

If someone on here has had or done any goalkeeper coaching before I'd love their input on what he's doing right.

As a fan looking at it's always easy to criticize but even the worst keeepers in the league are noticeably better than Kepa on many other criteria, be that shot stopping, comanding his area, claiming crosses, distribution, positioning ... The list goes on.

How he still gets games is truely a mystery.

Onana is supposedly on his way this summer no?

Literally anybody that you can think of, Onana/Donnarumma/Rajkovic...all are better, taller, confident, stronger...

Well considering our recent(?!)* luck in signing first-choice keepers (Cudicini, Cech, Courtois**), I suppose we were due a dud.

* Yes it has been two decades since we had a goalkeeper who was anything less than excellent.

** Has anyone looked into available goalkeepers whose surnames start with the letter 'C'?

Bulka, Areola, Henderson, Foster, Cacir ... Any of them would be an upgrade.

Never mind pipe dreams of Oblak or Ter Stegen. Just get a decent goalie and we'll be sooo much better.

Crickey, if Martinez continues on his current form we could even tempt Leno from Arsenal. Worth a thought depending on how that all pans out.

No words. You understand why it must be horrible to be a defender with someone like that behind you.

You can't even call it poor. Its something far, far beyond that. Like the biggest sh*tshow i've ever seen over a long period of time by ANY goalkeeper.

It is not all on Kepa. Nobody is that stupid but how many Chelsea teammates trust him to make a save or clear a corner or punch the ball to safety? I bet not many.

I like that Sarri's idea. Play so well from the back you don't even need to save balls that often. Utopia. That it is atm.

I seen this on twitter and I’m not usually one for mocking our own players but this gave me a laugh and lightened my mood a bit so hopefully it can do the same for some of you!

It certainly has lol

That's the whole point, literally anyone you can think of looks stronger, taller and more confident. It's embarrassing that we signed him for so much money.

Innit.

Nick Pope would be mint too.

The only PL keeper I wouldn't take it probably Pickford, but even he's better than Kepa.

I'm not defending Kepa but we invited some serious pressure on ourselves tonight. Yes, Kepa needs to be replaced but this is what happens with naive tactics.

I maintain that with any other goalie we had every chance of winning that game.

Edit - OR at least not losing.

I think people forget how bad Torres was sometimes due to the Champions League goal.

There was 1 game where he put effort in. The 1-0 man city home win where he ran himself ragged and got a goal in stoppage time when Nastasic and Hart f**ked up.

Other than that 1 game his attitude and lack of effort utterly stank.

For all his many faults and f**kups at least Kepa is clearly unhappy with how this is going.
