We've got a new Kepa

His footwork was terrible because he was not expecting all 3 defenders to leave the ball. He got caught out and it showed.

Kepa hasn't been great this season, I'm not going to argue against that, but this incident is in no way's Kepa's fault.

Again I'm not defending Kepa for the individual mistakes he's made this season but the pace and trajectory of the cross left him in a tricky situation. van Dijk's position on the back post should have given us a clue as to what Liverpool were likely to do from the set piece, imho.

I fully agree that keepers should be coming out to claim that ball but it still does not excuse what Abraham did. Especially when you already know a keeper is low on confidence and doesn't normally claim balls anyway.

Oh come on!!! This is the Premier League. The players are meant to be shouting at each other, they are meant to be communicating. SFL has been demanding that.

Kepa is the one who fell asleep. He is meant to be dominating his 6 yard line. He's too afraid to do this and so sticks on his line.

Kepa is simply not premier league quality. He needs to be booted out of the club and not play for us again.

This thread sums it up for me. I don’t believe fully in only trusting stats because they can be misleading and manipulated to suit your agenda. However, he’s literally awful in every single one. There’s no way to take any of his goalkeeping stats and even make him look average. That’s when you know it’s bad.

I had a debate with @Mummy in the Abraham thread, they pulled stats which made Abraham comparable with Ba. I pulled stats that made him comparable with Kane and Aubameyang. You literally can’t do that with Kepa, because they’re all sh*te across the board.

The most interesting one for me is around the number of shots faced and the xG. For all the complaining we do about the defence. Our defences in front of Tibo and Cech were giving up more shots on target than this one is. I’m not even going to start on the 57% save rate of shots on target at this level, that is absolutely absurd.

Lol hey! I never said that! Lol 😉

I said tammy was BETTER than Ba and you still can't take it lol.

He is more comparable to Ba than to the world class strikers you mentioned.

Quit acting like I cut and pasted some crazy numbers together dude.

Kepa sucks.

I know what you said but I was talking about the stats you provided which was games to goals which made them comparable did it not?

For reference, I’m referring to this:

“demba got like 14 goals for us in about 50 apps

tammy has 18 goals for us in about 50 apps”

The most interesting for me is that Kepa has faced 92 shots this season.

That's less shots than Cech or Courtois faced in any season.

This is REALLY poor when you consider how many goals we've conceded, we've conceded the most goals in the top 10. Also, there are 20 teams in the league, Kepa is ranked 21, that must mean someone's 2nd keeper has better saves per match than Kepa does...

also physical attributes and skillset...and BAMBI!

i clearly hit a nerve on tammy with you so much so that youve brought it to kepas thread.

I understand you can use stats and manipulate them, but im not the shining example youre looking for.

There is exactly 29 goalkeepers in the PL this season with a much better save percentage than Kepa.

Probably different metrics, %'s are different than saves per match. But every metric you use Kepa is low, that says it all.

Goalkeepers in top sides don't have to make many saves as other PL goalkeepers, yet Kepa is still somehow below the likes of Allison and Ederson in making less saves even though we've conceded nearly as much as both City and Liverpool combined...

Just like the Tammy thread you’ve missed the point. I brought it up because you can use stats to argue either point with Abraham. You can think what you like about him. There is not a single stat for Kepa where there’s an argument for him being a good keeper. That’s my point.

You’re last statement is something we can agree on.

I have calmed down and watched the match with better clarity.

Kepa is terrible. It's like having a mop in the middle of the goal. He does nothing anyone on here can't do.

1st goal: Poor technique

2nd goal: Poor positioning and wall positioning

3rd goal: Command of the box

4th goal: Anticipation

5th goal: Weak wrists

Not every one of the goals are fault of his but he should be doing much better for someone paid the wages that he's on.

I really gave him the benefit of the doubt for so long... and really hoped he’d push on. But he might cost us CL qualification. He’s letting in shots most other goalkeepers in the league would save. I’m sick of him and it pains me to say that about a Chelsea player. Just frustrating it’s another player we need to sort out when we have so many others we need this summer. Just hope he can stay solid against Wolves. One last hurrah please!!

i didnt miss your point, youve missed mine in the Tammy thread and in this one.

youre acting like ive used some strange formula and that ive designed numbers to fit my opinion.

I did nothing of the sort, in fact i even added other points on why i think they're similar that haven't anything to do with stats.

I understand you can use stats and manipulate them, but im not the shining example youre looking for.

^this should be a statement we agree on as well.

As mentioned already, the ball he didn’t come off his kind for yesterday really spoke to his lack of confidence and the team’s lack of confidence in him. What continues to baffle me is how he seemingly makes himself smaller on shots his way.

I also still haven’t forgotten his disrespectful behavior towards Sarri last season. From attitude to performance, Kepa just doesn’t fit the bill for a UCL hopeful club. The back four remains top priority in the window, but keeper has to be addressed as well.
