July 22, 20205 yr BRING BACK AMBROSIO! Remember when we had to play Marco Ambrosio against Arsenal in the CL quarters? I was soo worried he'd screw it up...if Kepa is in goal for Wolves, I'll be even more worried than I was then.
July 23, 20205 yr I just don't get it, how could he get so much worse in a matter of days or weeks. He's not even laying a finger on shots couple of of feet away from him, it's no longer the weak wrist, looks like he's not even seeing them.
July 23, 20205 yr After looking at the goals again, there's not a lot he could have done about any of them apart from the last one. I think the lack of reaction is what makes it look awful. On the goal Firmino scored, I'm not expecting him to save it but he could at least react to it. If that was Tibo he reacts, possibly even gets a hand on it.

Its something far, far beyond that. Like the biggest sh*tshow i've ever seen over a long period of time by ANY goalkeeper. Yeah, no. This is not Kepa's fault. Why is Abraham shouting for Kepa to claim the ball? That's not his job, the keeper is meant to do that. This is defending/goalkeeping 101. Zouma does not react and ducks out the way because Abraham made an incorrect call he had no right to make. Under normal circumstances Zouma clears the ball easily and you wouldn't have this clip.
July 23, 20205 yr He needs to be replaced. I would be astonished if he was still our first choice keeper come the start of next season.

Our Kepa is having a mare So please don't judge me unfair He's too slow and too small And won't come for the ball And has wrists like a chocolate eclair
July 23, 20205 yr I think it speaks for itself that most on here are hoping Willy starts in goal for the last 2 games of the season. Willy is not a great keeper but I would still pick him over Kepa. I'm not sure we would have beaten United on Sunday with Kepa in goal

Adjust your position and be a bit more central as it’s much easier for him to get it in that corner with pace than whip it back across himself. Admittedly I still need to watch the goals back but, it’s not just the goals though, it’s the chances as well. The one in the video shared above where the ball is whipped across the 6 yard box about 3 yards out. You’re expecting a good keeper, even a decent keeper to come and clear everything including any players in his way. It’s almost as if he has a rubber band around his waist attached to his line and he’s stuck there. Edited July 23, 20205 yr by EdinburghBlue

So lets not even call him a goalkeeper then. Fraud would describe him better really.

July 23, 20205 yr Dreadful. Again. Caballero must be in for the final 2 games now. Kepa is unsalvageable at this stage and we shouldn’t give ourselves false hope that he’s going to improve. I don’t care whether we sell him for nothing or loan him out for the next 5 years. He’s the worst first choice goalkeeper I’ve ever watched at Chelsea, he’s probably a lot worse than some of the back up options we’ve had, too.

If that was Tibo he reacts, possibly even gets a hand on it. The thing about kepa is, he makes shots look better than they are. He doesn't jump quickly enough. He doesn't claim anything from a cross. So for the first goal, it looks incredible because Kepa dives and doesn't reach the cross bar. But it was still middle of the goal. These shots get saved routinely by other keepers and they look like a good save. The free kick another keeper would have dived for because it was far enough out that he should have picked it's direction. Did that go top bins? No. It was very savable. This is why his save percentage is low. He's not making the saves that other keepers just make. We've conceded 54 goals this season. We are 1 off our record goals conceded in PL. He is the reason for that. I genuinely don't even want us to sign a CB. Just a goalkeeper. Edited July 23, 20205 yr by bisright1
July 23, 20205 yr I think our centre backs and full backs will improve dramatically with a better keeper behind them ... got to be someone with a bit of physical presence, and not someone who looks like he's wandered in off the under-14s pitch, Kepa needs to go on permanent loan to whichever Spanish team will have him. Especially when you already know a keeper is low on confidence and doesn't normally claim balls anyway.

Nevermind the non claim if you wish, but then look at his footwork when he does let the ball past him. It's not just confidence, it's just a complete lack of ability. He leaves the whole God damn goal open for Van Dijk because his footwork is absolutely brutal.

There’s at least 3 possibly 4 shouts for Kepa to claim that from different players. I’d 100% expect my keeper to be claiming that. Kepa is an awful goalkeeper who never commands his area or takes pressure off the defence. The guy has to go. He’s an imposter of a goalkeeper. Sky had an interesting article on him based on Carraghers comments and some of the graphs and charts they put it were criminal. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/12034330/chelseas-defensive-woe-analysed

His footwork was terrible because he was not expecting all 3 defenders to leave the ball. He got caught out and it showed. Kepa hasn't been great this season, I'm not going to argue against that, but this incident is in no way's Kepa's fault.

Looking back at the incident its actually worse than I thought. In my half asleep state I thought Abraham shouted before he attempted for the ball but no, Abraham attempts to head the ball, realises he can't get it and only then shouts for Kepa which then causes Zouma and Rudiger to not react and leave the ball. The other players are shouting at Kepa and Kepa is stood there confused as to why they all left the ball when he was not the one who shouted to claim it. Yes, I want my keeper claiming those balls all the time. I also want my defenders to defend first and foremost unless the keeper makes a call otherwise.
