A couple of things put me off donnarumma. 1. his agent is mini raiola, who we havent got the best relationship, and who talks to much about the clubs his clients are at. 2. He has a tendency to parry shots into dangerous areas, ive not seen him too much this season though, and by all accounts he has had a fantastic season, so maybe he is improving in that regard. 3. Not the best with his feet, although in all honesty i will be happy if we get a goalkeeper that excels in stopping goals this time! He is entering the last year of his contract aswell i think, so maybe the transfer fee wouldnt too high, we would just have to pay mino's massive fee, and give him superstar wages. Certainly not a no, but it is a transfer with some possible pitfalls.

This is the sort of gutsy move Lampard might make ... it was a real shame that Sarri didn't do more to bring that guy through for us, as he looked so solid in pre-season that year ... Whoever it is ... please no more midget goalkeepers ... we need someone with a bit of physical presence !!!

July 11, 20206 yr i like the look of young Nick Pope, he's just made to absolutely stunning saves against the Scousers, from Salah and Mane, he'd be brilliant for us...

July 12, 20206 yr Just looked at Kepa's history. He spent the majority of his career going out on loan every season, how on earth did Athletic got Chelsea to pay $88M for him? It's criminal, or highway robbery as we say it in the US.

Was told he has very little ability for his feet and is an average shot stopper.. they said this could be a mistake.. i feel this is a disaster.. that 70 mil could have bought us much more than him.. Not his fault but the folks who made the decision.. Every one knew the snake will not stay and the fact we didnt have a back up plan for a keeper was insane.. when ME was here i used to criticize him a lot but with him we always tended to buy quality.. not the likes of DD, Emerson, Alonso, Zappa,

Having been suckered by the snake into believing he might stay, we miss out on Alisson and then are forced to pay about 5 times as much to buy Kepa to meet Sarri's criteria for a keeper who is good with his feet. It's one of the worst decisions of the Abramovich era for sure. I'd love to read one day the story of our transfers for the last 3 seasons. Honestly the ban may be the best thing to ever happen to us.
July 12, 20206 yr We paid oblaks buyout clause of 91m before we bought kepa, but he wanted to stay. I still think the only way we getting rid of kepa us doing a swap deal for oblak and throwing in 40m on top.
July 12, 20206 yr To be fair to Kepa I dont think he could really have done more on the 3 goals today. But I feel we did make a mistake buying him and may have to loan him and then still take a huge loss when sold.

Courtois and the board left us in a difficult situation with only a few days left in the transfer window, so we had to panic buy a goalkeeper.

It was well done to even stop the shot, considering it was deflected. Zouma and Christensen both ball watching, not to mention Mount’s failure to clear the ball previous to that. Not even close to being Kepa’s fault on that one.

I am not blaming him for the goa but responding to the post that says he could not have done anything for the goal....it was deflected but had no real pace.. he could have certainly done better... his hand is not even out stretched.. Mount and others made bigger errors but Kepa could have done certainly done better....

There’s no leverage for him to “be stronger” in pushing it away. He did all he could to keep it out of the net and he did it well. Crazy the lengths people will go to place any sort of blame on Kepa. Yes he needs to be better but just because he’s had some struggles, doesn’t mean that every single thing that doesn’t go our way is his fault or that he must do better. He stopped the shot with good reflexes, that’s it. Edited July 12, 20206 yr by mwblue10 Typo
