Do we or is that your hope?

For me is simple. We make a statement and splash big on quality, and not just 1 striker, or we will miss out on top 4 with this lot and eden goes with no cl next season.

Both.

He's one of the best strikers in the world and one of the few available under the age of 30.

Have to imagine we will be bringing in somebody in January now, looks like Giroud will miss some time and Morata again proved today that he is not going to cut it.

The only thing I’d say about Girouds injury is it’s very convenient I’d your Sarri and you need a striker.

Unlikely to be a first team striker. Unless we are willing to pay an arm and a leg.

Again poor decision to not sign someone in the summer. But that happens when you stuff around trying to sign a coach for two months and have no long term direction.

Well contrary to majority opinion is now looking odds on we’ll get a strilker and it will be Higuain. Good enough for two seasons maybe.

I really wasn’t keen on Higuain at all, especially considering we’ll need to buy him for over £30m in the summer if the rumours are to be believed...

Having said that I’ll take anyone to not have to watch the false 9 again.

You wasted millions and millions for goats like Drinkwater, Bakayoko, Morata,Zappacosta,Emerson ecc.ecc.. and now 30m for Higuain are too much ?

I don't understand.

The record of players coming into the English game for the first time over the age of thirty is particularly poor. We have a policy for players over the threshold of only offering one year contracts, would Higuain accept this? If he was offered an extended deal other players quite rightly could ask why they haven't been offered similar. Higuain could be a success and if he signs we all hope he will be, yet again he is just as likely to be this years Falcao, Pato etc.

The fee is largely immaterial. It's more the fact that he'd reportedly be about the 2nd or 3rd highest-paid player in the league. Shackling yourself to such a contract is extremely risky, particularly as he'd prove tricky to shift in the event of failure (see how desperate Juve are to find suitors, we're hardly at the head of a long queue... add another year to his age and that queue whittles away even further). Does his current form over the past season and a bit merit that? Because it's a lot more relevant than his form under Sarri at Napoli when he was a younger, fitter, more physically-capable player.

If he comes I'll eagerly support him, don't get me wrong. But it will be a nervy transfer with plenty of pitfalls.

Whisper it quietly, but... Cutrone > Higuain.

We're after the wrong Milan striker.

Can't agree with that, one goat replaced by another.

Higuain will be just fine until the arrival of...

He will be going on 32 the season we need to buy him, we have a policy of only giving players over 30 one year deals, if the club breaks that then as others have mentioned, players can quite rightly question the consistency of that rule, he’s never played in the prem before and not all players can adapt to it. It’s certianly a lot more physical than Spain & Italy as Morata has found out the hard way.

I don’t believe he looks after himself all that well which will be to our detriment now he’ll be well in his 30’s.

If he comes I hope he’s a success but I do have reservations - as I say, anything’s better than a false 9 though.

I think that Higuain is even in the full of career technically and physically. He never had injuries. He has only a problem of motivations at he moment,  i think. I don't see young strikers on the market able to do the difference like him at the moment.

I say this regretfully, because certainly i don't love him, rather I must hold back not to insulate him.

 Sorry my english is not perfect, i'm writing here also to improve in this.

So i am Napoli supporter and for me Higuain is a traitor and a small man, but as a player i can't discuss him.  That's all.

So he's a traitorous midget. This is holding back because you don't want to insult him :laugh2: ?

You don't know the usual level of my insults to him.

Two years ago i wanted throw to him a pig's head like the barça supporters were with Luis Figo .

I wonder if we would be tempted to go back in for Lukaku in the summer.

It's going to depend on who United appoint as their next manager but right now Solskjaer sees Rashford as his first choice and if that continued to be the case then you could see United wanting to cash in.

With perhaps losing Fabregas, Cahill and Luiz by the summer Lukaku's homegrown status would have an added appeal.

I posted in one of the other threads yesterday, that I can see us ending up with Lukaku, he will be surplus to requirements at United in summer, we will piss about in transfer market and fail to sign a striker. As a club we don't dine at the top table now when it comes to the elite players and the board will opt for Lukaku.  It would end up a total disaster!!

The longer this saga goes on the greater that possibility becomes.

Not a prospect I look forward to and expect we would be paying > £50m to do it.

I still think that his second half of the season is a great opportunity to bring Tammy back and give him an extended run in the first team. None of the available strikers are really looking that great at the moment so it may be better to wait until the summer. If we give Tammy a chance maybe he will save us some money.

We would have to spend 100m+ to get Lukaku, if Man utd even wanted to sell. Plus he's not exactly known for his good first touch, link up play, or work rate. Can't see him fitting into what Sarri is trying to do, at all.

You think so?  I think his value has dropped considerably this season, as people have seen that he is quite a donkey when it comes to quick one-touch football.  On the BBC scorer's list he has 8, the same as Mitrovic, Glenn Murray and Gylfi Sigurdsson.  Only 1 more than Pedro.  And I know how much we in this forum love our goal-scoring stats as a measure of a player.
