Tired of this. So that’s it. No other Saudi can ever own a football club because the Newcastle owners got there first.

And your statement is completely false saying SMG is close with the Saudi government.

Just being realistic. SMG don't have enough money to make a bid without other finance. Their turnover is roughly 700m. Any other finance would have to be independent of the Saudi government. That would need to be proven. It took Newcastle one year to satisfy the Premier League of the independence of their owners. And everyone knows that was dubious. Chelsea have until the end of the month to get new ownership in place. The only viable options are the US bidders.

Does this mean Mr Candy is out of the runnings?  It would be a shame given he’s already a fellow Blues brother and fan of Uncle Buck.   We’d finally get to fill the stadium again rather than playing home alone, and we wouldn’t need to worry about travel be it by planes, trains and automobiles.   I feel we’d be subject to some cool runnings under him 😄

Todd Boehly’s group and the Ricketts family consortium remain favourites to take control of Chelsea (via @Matt_Law_DT) #CFC

Sounds like Raine have reduced the bidders too these two and plan on offering which ones the "preferred bidder" this week.

Saudi media group still in the frame however a problem for the bid is persistent links that their bid involves Turki Al-Sheikh, who has a title and role in the Saudi royal Court and therefore direct link to the Saudi state.

Many have speculated the winning bid could be one we heard nothing about before the deadline. This one does sound interesting.

That bid isnt going down well among the Chelsea fans on social media and various forums.

If i was to predict the shortlist i think it'll be

1  Todd Boehly/Wyss/Goldstein/Clearlake capital [apparently goldman sachs are involved too, not too sure]

2  Coe/Broughton

3  Ricketts/Griffin

1 or 3 will win.  But id not be surprised of an unknown to burst out of nowhere, either

Why is it not going down well. What is the issue with it?

Why do so many think BWG or Ricketts-Griffin would be good owners?

The former keep adding and adding too their bid in a mad scramble and the latter took a winning team and dismantled it and spent their cash on building up the surrounding area and told their fans they have no money to improve the team.

I have a bad feeling about both. Will happily eat humble pie of proven wrong but whenever TT goes either of these owners will drag us down and be happy to live off the fat like the Arsenal and United owners.

Another thing the US consortiums say that really makes me doubt they know what they are talking about is when they talk about opportunities in the US market for Chelsea.

Like what on earth are you guys smoking? Roman has been close to a US native in Bruce Buck for nearly 2 decades at Chelsea alone. Don't you think we would have already cracked the US market if it were possible? Or Arsenal, Liverpool or United with their US owners and their experience of US sports teams. Are they raking in big money from the US market? I really doubt it.

Why? Because it is impossible. The US market is a waste of time. They are taught from high school "soccer" is a game for kids and women only, the best male sports people go on to the NFL, NBA, MLB and the NHL. MLS is a joke to them, for people not good enough for the other 4 main sports, there is so little interest in our football their is no real chance to make more money there. It would be a waste of time and effort.

Why wouldn't they really. We would if some other club could go around the rules. The rules however are probably not very clear as we have an extraordinary situation plus this is writing off debt in a takeover-situation. Don't know if that plays any part...

If we suffer that points deduction but end up in good hands I am okay with it. We just need to win the Champions League so we automatically qualify for next season 😃

That's a pretty outdated take. "Soccer" is massively on the rise in America, tv rights there sold for 2bn in comparison to the 5bn we raise in the UK. They are hosting the world cup this decade. They have multiple top tier players in the team now.

It's no longer a minority sport, it's one of their 5 big ones and it's only going to get bigger.

Plus we have captain America!

Whatever happens we probably know its never going to be the same again,Roman was a remarkable owner,of course the prospective owners will promise this and that but its all bull to try and win.I for one will always appreciate what Roman did for us,but now expectations should be lowered.

Did---you even read the rest of his thread? Or you just ignored it? SMG are very much still in the running to buy Chelsea and I still consider them one of the favourites.

Having heard he reportedly said that lampard should have been given more time, I've decided that I don't want a Chelsea fan as owner or part owner.

"Vow to be against the European Super League"

FFS. This triggers me a little. The first proposal was a disaster fair enough, but the 2nd proposal was better. Eventually, when UEFA fecks everything up with the new Champions League format in 2024 and FIFA with their demanding new Club World Cup format - more and more clubs will slowly turn their heads towards the Super League. Especially when Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus are there.

You cannot be very ignorant, and toss the idea in the bin because of what the UEFA president said about it. Which is why, Chelsea fans running the club with poor business-sense is a VERY bad idea.

Some of the consortiums who have bid for #Chelsea say they expect to start hearing if their offer has been successful from this morning.

[via @MiguelDelaney]

I just want the new owners in before our game against Real. It will be a travesty if we have to play the game behind closed doors and not have the opportunity to let the snake know how we truly feel.

Also does anyone know why the government can't just let us sell the tickets for free to season ticket holders. That way we don't make a profit and the fans don't suffer.
