I think that would be a bit low given Neves on his own was 47mill pounds. Given the Saudis bottomless funds I would hope for 70mill combined. You really do keep underrating Neves as a footballer. Hes worth 50m. He adds value to most PL squads. I wouldn't have been surprised if we bought him. Our over the hill cast offs are not.
June 20, 20233 yr Ah the poor Arsenal fans. Blowing the title and now crying in to their suppers that we are cheating lol

June 20, 20233 yr This is a Todd Boehly masterclass if he pulls this off. We've all given Todd a lot of sh*t on here, I think it's fair to give him some major props if he's managed to offload that sh*te for decent fee's and high wages. And all the w**kers like Gary Neville asking for investigations can f**k right off. Saudi's buying Newcastle and United and I don't hear the same level of whinging, but as soon as we start selling to them it's a problem? Give over.
June 21, 20233 yr I think Boehly/Clearlake deserve credit for exploiting the Saudi market albeit there is a bit of pre-history with PIF that helped facilitate that piece of business, unlike our sales of Oscar, Ramires etc. to China which were at that time completely out of the blue and unprecedented. Both circumstances though are a piece of pure luck meeting opportunity. As for investigations, on what grounds? What is there to investigate? Neville's comments have more than a tinge of xenophobia because it is a reaction to the apparent gall of a league outside Western Europe outspending European clubs. If Newcastle and Chelsea (or PSG & Man U) were trading players either over or under market value, then that would be a valid concern about PIF's influence on competition integrity. This is completely different, just foreign clubs in a foreign league splashing money. The only reason why this has any legitimacy at all is because Ronaldo went there in the first place. I mean yeah, none of our players are going for crazy money by the sounds of it. They are all - apart from Auba - Muslim. From a FFP stand point I can't see us making anymore than 5 or 10m from this. We have lots of players we want to sell. Some of those players are Muslim. A new league based in Saudi Arabia needs players and has lots of money. It's really not a big story. Neville needs to wind his neck in. Edited June 21, 20233 yr by bisright1

As pointed out elsewhere the changes to FFP whereby squad costs ie amortised values+ wages + agents fees are only allowable up to 90% in current year down to 80% then 70% mean the FFP benefit of say shifting Koulibaly will benefit to the tune of £23 million a season . If we can get £27 ish million for him then the benefit is colossal.

If we can get £27 ish million for him then the benefit is colossal. Shifting Koulibaly is colossal for our finances when examining costs not spent. But we aren't receiving significantly more than his value if we shift him for £23m. He was valued at more than that 12 months ago. If we sold him for 10m, we'd have to wear a significant cost to our FFP budget immediately - and we would very likely refuse to do that. The implication from Neville and others is that the Saudis are giving us more money than players are worth in order to prop up our finances. That's just almost certainly not true. They are spending their money on players with big names who are likely to accept contracts to play in a second tier competition.
June 21, 20233 yr 4/5 transfers announced in one day? Must be some kind of record! It's an encouraging sight though. Especially in terms of the atmosphere going forward. Guardiola got it right - only work with players who want to be at the club.
June 21, 20233 yr Mount leaving is the only deal that hurts if it happens. Chelsea boys leaving in general for me is okay as we have seen the level of many of them in other clubs. Tammy and Fikayo in particular. This multi-club model, that is a bit smelly in general, should be rolling on quick so we don't have to sell our talent too early. It would be perfect if we could play Santos and Casadei in somewhere like Strasbourg for a season.
June 21, 20233 yr Boehly has basically done what we have all been crying out for over the past 5 or 6 years, cleared the decks and got us in a position to start again with the squad building. Obviously plenty of fans will still claim they're clowns, useless, Ted Lasso and all that nonsense, but my opinion is this will turn out to be the best window we have had in years for the squad.
June 21, 20233 yr Some players with fantastic careers are going but of those with a tick the ony one that I put a question mark against is Havertz but at least the fee is respectable.

I doubt that there will be any rush to get in done in this trading year. KK was signed for £33 million on a 4 year deal what that means that at the end of his first season 22/23) his value will be written down to £24.7 million. If he is sold for say £13 million we will take a hit in trading year ending June 23 of £11.7 million.
June 21, 20233 yr So because we sold our players to Saudi Arabia, it's cheating? 😆 Desperation from rivals fans. Neville should shut up too, his club is about to be owned by Qatar.
June 21, 20233 yr Good point. Interesting to see if it done before 30th June. I doubt the club will want to show £11m loss on their books, unless they are confident that they have made their £92m target. 45 minutes ago, terraloon said: The trick with KK will all be about timing of his departure. June 21, 20233 yr Great sales but I'm not sure about the Kovacic deal. He's only 29, and has been one of our best players these past few seasons, everyone has had a bad season this year. 30 million to our premier league rivals doesn't seem like anywhere near enough

Aye credit where credit is due. The clear out by Clearlake is going well. 5 minutes ago, JM7 said: Good point. Interesting to see if it done before 30th June. Not because I am that bothered about losing him, I just think he is perfect for City and makes them more formidable. I don't think we will get anywhere close to City anytime soon anyway, but still, I don't want them to keep dominating, it's boring.
June 21, 20233 yr Neville is such a hypocrite, had no issue when the Saudis took Ronaldo off United’s books

Not only is it better than the alternatives this narrative that the PL is this super amazingly competitive league galaxy's above all others dies that bit further.

It's not even about balancing the books at this point, it's just getting rid of rubbish players on high wages for even a bit of cash. Great bit of business by us if we pull it off, because we desperately need to offload them.

He’s on the bench half the season so I personally don’t mind if we’ve finally decided to move on
