May 25, 20224 yr Transfers: Kounde deal back on Sky Sports News' senior reporter Melissa Reddy: "Chelsea are pressing ahead with their summer recruitment plans now that the UK government has approved the £4.25bn Todd Boehly-led consortium takeover of the club. "The Blues have a verbal agreement already in place with Sevilla defender Jules Kounde, with the Spanish club preferring a quick deal as they aim to balance their books before June 30. "Talks on a deal for Kounde had collapsed last year but there is optimism from all parties it will get done this time. "PSG's Presnel Kimpembe is part of a shortlist of central defensive options and is Thomas Tuchel's preference. Atletico Madrid's Jose Gimenez and RB Leipzig's Josko Gvardiol are also among those looked at. "Chelsea like Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, but expectation is he will end up at Real Madrid. PSV's Ibrahim Sangare is among the alternatives scouted." From sky Sports, Sounds like we want Kimpembe as our primary defender to replace Toni, with Kounde replacing AC. Also while we want Tchouaméni he is heading to Real so Sangare is our back up.

May 25, 20224 yr If that report is accurate maybe TT sees this as his team, bar recruitment in the forward areas. Mendy Kounde Silva Kimpembe James Tchouaméni/Sangare Kante Chilwell Mount Havertz Werner

May 25, 20224 yr Other rag rumours have involved with City in a battle for Kalvin Phillips, looking at Nick Pope or Ben Foster to replace Kepa as number 2 and testing the water around West Hams Jarrod Bowen.

Nick Pope is a great keeper but not good with the ball at his feet. I suspect that will rule him out. Foster would probably be a decent option in the short term.

I'm convinced Kalvin would be a great purchase for us. Now that city seem to be buying him I feel even more convinced.

But I'm prepared to be wrong on this 😂

Here is an article on Boehly's plan for us. https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/boehly-plans-chelsea-liverpool-transfers-redeveloping/blt652da1658851a87b If someone is still under the illusion that Chelsea FC is a football club and not a business trying to reel in "customers", read this and weep a little for a time long gone (and I've only been a supporter since 1994, imagine how the old guard must feel about it!). Still, most of us knew the reality of 21st century football, but to me it's not very heartwarming stuff to read Oh well, we still exist.

Sorry but for those like me who go back to the horrendous days of the 70s , the challenging times under Bates and the news of the takeover and the plans being laid out then sorry I am not particularly phased by what is being said. We have to be honest in that the era of spend without care had to come to an end. There had been signs the spending had to be partially off set by sales but the club is a business and it has to look going forward look at exploiting commercial opportunities for instance far more than we have previously. We have so much to thank RA for if for no other reason he will leave the club in a very good position many but not all the component parts of the business ( we have to accept that’s what it is )function very well but some are not close to the required level . The King has gone long live the King

In a market where Bastoni, Pau Torres, Skriniar, Gimenez are all up for sale and with the right money you could buy Kalulu, Tomori, Andersen or Guehi. Personally not convinced Tuchel should be given the authority to choose what players he wants, most of his supposed targets are very questionable. A good sporting director would be a good start.

For decades the world has been saying (and praying) RA would soon tire of his toy and we'd end up like Leeds. Then they hoped sanctions would see us wound up.
