Any idea if we would fare better under these rules though? There was some speculation that we might be sanctioned by UEFA under these rules, if we qualify for European competition next season.

I think this helps us as the threshold is greater under UEFA v Premier League.
March 12, 20242 yr What's happened about the alleged illegal off the book payments made under Roman ? I don't think we've been charged with anything? Last I heard was that the club asked to see the leaked documents that contained the information .

Not too long ago, I considered myself to be really informed and up to date with all of the changes in football. But they happen so often now that I am finding it almost impossible to keep up. Reminds me of the reasons why I got sick of Formula 1, they never stop with the rule changes.

Would be interesting if they found us guilty and say the punishment is a points deduction. Surely they would have to deduct the points from next season otherwise they will be effectively relegating the club.

Surely they would deduct the points this season because it would relgate us, although it would have to be a huge deduction. 18 points would currently see us outside the relegation places. In fact it may be better if they did it this season and we get a clear run in 24/25.

I doubt we will even get points deducted, it'll be a fine.

We still haven't been charged with anything and my understanding was that it could take some time for them to review all the details. We self-reported in this case and the irregularities we missed by both the Premier League and the UK Gov at the time of the sale to Clearlake. So I'd be surprised if we get more than a fine for this particular issue. The FFP/PSR rules are much clearer and that is probably where we face the biggest risk of a points deduction.
March 14, 20242 yr 1st-5th get Champions League 6th & 7th gets Europa league. 8th gets conference league. Cheers West Ham
March 14, 20242 yr Who wants the conference league? Playing Thursday night football at some mini stadiums few even heard of. With the depths of our injury list, may as well stay away even from Europa. If we do finish 7th or 8th, could we opt out of the competition?
March 14, 20242 yr Some really comments on this podcast about ownership and management of the club. Discuss Bohley and Egbad. Plus transfers etc Also talks about Chris Jorasek, none of which is positive Definitely worth a listen London is Blue, Matt Law Special. https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/london-is-blue-chelsea-fc-podcast/id914691565?i=1000649138403

Cheers West Ham While West Ham's win certainly helped, this is not yet a done deal. It will likely all come down to the 2 match ups between English/German teams in the European QF's - Arsenal v. Bayern and West Ham v. Bayer Leverkusen. If the German teams get the upper hand, they will likely get the extra Champions League spot. Technically only 1 spot in the Europa comes from the league with 1 from the FA Cup. But if City or Liverpool win the FA Cup then it will open that spot to either 6th or 7th in the league.

Opting out would reek of pure arrogance, if we finish 7th/8th then that means we are only as good as that particular European competition.

We are not above or bigger than any tournament. At the moment the higher profile European tournaments are above or bigger than us.

Good information in there too, well worth a listen as you say. Fair play to Matt Law for sitting next to Cathy though, bet that was something he'll remember for a long time! 😂

Jorasek doesn’t have a good reputation at all. Yeah really interesting episodes, really insighful.
March 18, 20242 yr For whatever people say about the transfer policy, I actually think they have done a good job. The first summer window with Tuchel was poor, that was just done to please the manager and we had no board. Since then, I think the vast majority of our transfers have been very good and I like almost everyone we've signed. We actually have a squad where once we have a top manager who plays good attacking football, the ceiling is ridiculous. Ignoring most the youth team signings and the first summer window.. How many bad signings have their really been? and by bad I mean bad players with no real potential to get much better and no real upside? I would say probably Sanchez the keeper and thats it. Not to mention the great job we've done selling deadwood, but that is still ongoing and Im hoping by the end of this summer window most of that will be sorted as well.
