Mason Mount

So. We are selling players.  To Saudi Arabia mainly. Do they want to buy Mason Mount? I would hate to see Mount go to Manchester. I really would HATE that. Tuchel and Munich are now interested apparently. IF he has to go – wants to go – we should NOT let him go to a rival English club. imho. I do not know the INs and OUTs of what is happening hwith his contract and what the club HAS and HAS NOT offered him.

I do know it is about money. He is entitled to get the most money he can. The club is also entitled not to be held to ransom. It is a tricky situation. We don’t really know the details. I hope he stays.

I'd rather Mount went to United than Saudi. Id be very depressed to see him Oscar his career away.

I would rather keep him. But joining United would be treacherous and unforgivable.

Wilkins, Mata, Matic, weren't regarded as traitors.

And players have moved from Utd to us

I want him to stay , the club to agree a fair contract for him.

No one else apart from Utd seem interested, he doesn't seem  to have any other option...I don't know the truth about the contract ,  it would be nice to form an opinion based on the truth.. I read something different every day

thats because those 3 we sold to united once they were past their best and in their twilight years. Mount is still quite young.

Truth of the matter is that no club wants him apart from united who are well known to make crap signings anyway

ill be honest I skipped over the wilkins bit and was more thinking of Mata and Matic who were both over the hill. wasnt old enough!

I really hope we do accept the offer because the chances are that if we dont accept it we lose out on 55m (at least) pure profit for ffp because next summer we'll lose him for free

Mata was 25 when he went to United, so one year older than Mount is now.

Yeah , the worst scenario mate.

Imagine if he's brilliant, voted player of the year ( again) then f**ks off !

Talk Sport are saying that Mount had accepted a lower salary at United??

And it can't be about the long contract we want him to sign, because players can and do move during the contract.

We shouldn't have given Sterling mega wages . Performance pay I'm all for , but surely if I'm busting a gut to get the dosh and  I think a player on guaranteed mega money is coasting , won't it cause resentment and disharmony??

Oh to be in that position 😛

I don't know where you're getting that from, hindsight is a wonderful thing but nobody in their right minds at the time thought Mata was over the hill. For one he was 25 years old when he went to United, and he was our best player during his spell here. Had a ridiculous G/A also, I really thought that transfer was going to bite us in the ass but luckily it didn't because Mata did nothing substantial at United.

Wilkins was sold to fund the East Stand debt.  Mata was sold because he wasn't rated by Jose who preferred Oscar (madness).  He hardly featured for us in Jose's first season back so I couldn't blame him.wanting out in January from being your main man, in previous two seasons, to squad player. Ironic that Mata ends up playing for Jose at Man United.  I would say it was only Matic who forced a move for a reason that was never clear (was a regular in Conte's team).

Wilkins and Mata in their prime, Matic was nearer the end.....

I would also like to think that Mata thinks of us more fondly than United.  His two full seasons, Champs League, Europa League, FA Cup.  Many goals and assists, 2 player of the years.  At this time it was considered that David Silva was a poor man's Mata!  He achieved massively for us and was underwhelming at United for all those years spent there....

But we would have probably not won our two league titles since he left....

I don't think we'll lose him for free. Worst case we sell him for a bit less in Jan. And by then the likes of Real, PSG, Barca may even be interested because of the price.

If you believe the stories regarding his image rights and that being the main driver of the contract issue, then 'his entourage' should be quite satisfied with an approach from either Utd, Real or Barca.

Nobody considered Silva a poor man's Mata...

I'm not saying David Silva is a poor man's Mata, because clearly he wasn't, but back in 2012, we sang "you're just a s*** Juan Mata" when playing city and I don't think it was tongue in cheek...

He wouldn’t move in Jan though. He would be able to sign a pre-contract agreement but there is no chance he moves in Jan, he will be forfeiting £xx millions of sign on fees as a free agent which just won’t happen.

oh jesus really? For some reason I was thinking in my head he was late 20's when he made the move damn.

Then I guess we were pretty lucky in the sense he didnt do much at united then!

Snake this snake that...  Grow up.. and anyone else who thinks a player moving to another club is Treacherous and unforgivable. What do you not understand about this being a business, where players are offered serious money for their services. Is Declan rice a snake for wanting to go to City at the end of his contract? or is he looking for the best financial deal and chance of winning silverware. Probably both. He's ex Chelsea too so presumably for some small minds on here a snake for leaving us to West Ham all those years ago.

Snake this snake that beware the ides of Lampard - the treacherous unforgivable ex legend who came back to help the club out and was pilloried by sections of the clubs fan base. The snake... signed for us from West Ham after going through their academy. Can't be proper Chelsea as he wasnt a youth product.

CFC has approached players in exactly the same manner as as United have done with Mount and you dumbos all celebrate it. Absolutism is for ball lickers. you lot calling mount a snake either need to grow a sack or get a better understanding of how football works. Muppets.

It seems we are trying to sort out all the stupid high earners at our club, with most of them leaving or rumoured to leave (koulibaly, kante, auba etc) and there are only a few names left that are on ridiculous wages currently. Sterling and Lukaku being the 2 main ones, but it seems as if Lukaku is set to leave soon potentially as well.

Sterling is the one Im not sure about and dont think he will leave for a while yet, however I do believe there was some clause in the contract saying if he we missed out on europe a % of the salary would get cut, so even he wont be on anything insane anymore.

Oh the wonders of trying to make up for the several years of mistakes we have been making including last summer...

Agree. He was fantastic for us and adored by the fans. It was weird how he just couldn't perform under José. The harder he tried the more he looked like a player who just didn't fit, despite being so good in the previous few seasons. His confidence plummeted and he really struggled. (It was around this time that José decided KdB wasn't his sort of player).

He never really made any impact at United, and I've no doubt he feels his best years in England were with us.

I still think that IF Mount joins Man Utd, it would be a treacherous move. I guess I have a different concept of loyalty than many of the folks on here.

I fully understand how my loyalty and integrity works.

Wilkins was sold to fund the East Stand. A different age.
Mata didn't matter as we had Hazard.
Matic was past his prime.

As I say, I would like to keep Mount. He is entitled to get the most money he can. The club is also entitled not to be held to ransom. It is a tricky situation. We don’t really know the details. I hope he stays. But IF he chooses United that will be the move of a traitor. imho. Humble opinion.
