This farmers league nonsense needs to stop because he performed very well in the champions league against the best sides in europe. Rice I don't mind as a player, but 80m is far too steep, thats my main gripe with that.

Also im just basing the price of what sort of figures ive seen getting thrown around, Tagliafico seems to be around 25m at most and Chilwell has been constantly linked as a 80m player

Being English is definitely a factor. Frank clearly see's something a lot of us don't because he's willing to spend huge on Chilwell who just seems average imo. He started the season pretty well, but latter half he was pretty appalling.

You cant say most these english players are very good, because if they were clubs from outside of england would want them, but nobody really does. Of course there are exceptions to this, but those are generally the actual quality players

Why does it need to stop? It's a sh*t league. That's where he plays every week. The CL is great but Ajax didn't even get out the group in the CL this year. The fact is chilwell is younger and has more experience at a consistent higher level than tag. That's why chilwell is worth at least an extra 20-30m than tag. 

You are basing it on how much the selling club is leaking. That won't be the price and it won't be what we pay. We aren't spending 80m on chilwell. He will go for about 50-55m.

Agree that its s sh*t league overall, but the top teams are still good teams. Fair point that Chilwell is a couple years younger and warrants a bit extra, perfectly understandable.

50-55m is definitely much more reasonable than 80m, but i think if Chilwell was foreign he wouldnt go for anything more than 35-40m which I think is fair.

Most English players since the dawn of time have preferred to stay in England.  After all isn't the Premier League the biggest, best paying league in the world why go abroad unless one of the big guns are calling, and even then they prefer the top English teams eg. Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney?  In fact haven't players like Ashley Young and Smalling, players who have been discarded from English teams for not being good enough looked like decent players in the foreign leagues.  Fans seem to get all too excited over players they've barely seen play thinking they've got the next Van Dijk when in fact its the Spanish Chris Smalling.

Kenny Dalglish was obsessed with English players in 2011-2012 and Liverpool title was delayed with a decade. I do love Frank but I don't think his judgement is 100% objective. Au contraire, these rumors about these players.... Rice is not better than Kieran Dyer and Chilwell is not better than Luke Shaw at the time. Let's hope Marina interferes and stops these transfers.

Yeah Rice I can actually get behind given his age and mentality. He's 21 and looks like a leader with his best years certainly to come. Dunk and Chilwell haven't shown anything near what Rice has.

I still think Rice is overpriced, but he's definitely better value than the other 2

Yet top defensive managers like Conte and Simeone have taken Ashley Young and Keiran Trippier recently. The bigger problem with English players is that they on the whole have failed to settle abroad, have language difficulties and can't be arsed to learn a new language to make their stay more succesful.

The frustrating thing with Rice is we had him in our academy and deemed him surplus to requirements at the time. Didn't Mbappe get overlooked in a similar way?

Man City have been linked with Chilwell many times.  Sterling and Trent moving aboard isn't a thing again probably because English players prefer to stay in England and there are a small number of clubs in the world that can pay better wages than the majority of the English clubs.  Teams in say Italy and Spain would probably like Dunk and Rice but can't afford them.  Let's be honest if it's not the top 2 teams in Spain & German or PSG, Juve you're better staying in England anyway.  As for Kante he's not English but like a lot of non English players prefers to play in the Premier League also.

I think the language barrier is definitely a much bigger issue outside of England. Someone like Bale no matter how good he was on the pitch, never seemed to really be liked by the fans and thats probably cause he didnt speak spanish.

No, he came on trial, but his parents wanted him to remain in France.

That is fairly easily disproven, there are numerous clips of him speaking Spanish so he clearly learnt, he may not be perfect but certainly up to the standard we would expect of a Spanish footballer over here speaking English, he did an interview back in 2015 where while it is a bit broken is fully conducted in Spanish, the RM fans never liked him because La Marca seemed to decide it didnt like him.

He sucks at Spanish, for someone that has been living there for such a long time he looks like he never actually put any effort into it. E.g Tony Kroos was signed after Bale and he did learn much better in comparison...
