August 18, 20205 yr You know what? People I need Spain don't judge players based on how well they speak the language, but based on how they perform and how they behave towards the club. Real Madrid fans, the majority anyways, liked Bale and valued him as a great player. He has started to behave very weirdly in the last couple of seasons, probably due to a lack of relationship with Zidane, and that is when most fans have started to turn against him. Also, someone in here suggested that it was based on Marca not liking him. Well, historically Marca has always been closer to Atlético de Madrid while As is the preferred journal for the madridistas, so I doubt that many of them will be influenced by Marca. August 22, 20205 yr Seems like the focus have been on Havertz, T.Silva and Chilwell lately. But have a funny feeling we are not quite done after hopefully getting those three either. Would certainly not be surprised if he's a Chelsea-player this coming season either.

I would like us to put all of our focus on a goalkeeper after completing these 3 signings. Surely we can’t go with Kepa again for a whole season.

E.g Tony Kroos was signed after Bale and he did learn much better in comparison... No one moans that Aguero never speaks English, he's been here a lot longer.

In Real Madrid you need a lot of luck in order to be liked by the arrogant fans and it's a bit obvious that Bale doesn't really fit in, it's unfair since he has showed up in important moments for them but it's clearly important to make an effort for more personal relationships with the rest. All that wouldn't be a big problem but if Zidane doesn't like him there isn't much he can do, he already proved his worth but injuries and being more distant or shy, all that doesn't go in Bale's favor.
August 22, 20205 yr Watched the Anelkas documentary on Netflix and he didn't have much positive to say about his experience in Madrid and seems like not much has changed since. I am surprised top players still want to go there, but I guess that is the pinnacle especially if you are from any of the Western European Countries.

Yes, I'm sure that De Bruyne, Sterling and so on will speak perfect Spanish... what a load of nonsense. Real Madrid supporters started to dislike Bale because of his behaviour. How the f**k did we respond to Courtois? Bale has behaved towards Real Madrid much, much worse. And I know because I have family who are Real Madrid season ticket holders. One example https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2019/nov/20/gareth-bale-and-that-wales-golf-madrid-flag-real-are-not-amused

Even the managers of Man City have been Spanish speakers. If you don't believe me google it.

Do they speak Spanish on the pitch or in training? What about the coaching team and other workers in their training field? Aguero may not be Shakespeare, I haven't heard him never (Spanish or English), I can assure you that they'll most likely speak enough English to communicate when playing.

Yes you're right, last time I heard Aguero was more than just a few years ago and now I googled and found some newer interviews and I can tell you that he did improve, but under Pellegrini and before he was kind of random. Then I also found out that Pep was forcing them to learn English, Otamendi was using a translator before but he was actually taking tests in English because Pep really wanted to talk English during team meetings and stuff like that. Pep is more involved with his players in comparison to Mancini....That source was from 2018 or so. I think it's just a better atmosphere in the club here and there in Man City too, in comparison to Real Madrid, I remember when we won the title with Conte, Costa and others were interrupting the press conference and people were talking Italian, Spanish and English and all at the same time, it was just fun. August 29, 20205 yr Lots of talk today after we sign Havertz that we will then go for Declan Rice. I hope not to be honest. Rather we just kept Ampadu.

I think Rice would be down to if West ham can sell other players or not. This market is tough, football clubs have been hit in the pocket big time. Only clubs with wealthy owners (us, city etc) or bottomless pits of saved up cash (United for me) can suffer the effects and act fairly normally. I mean I get we are finding it hard to offload drinkwater and Baka, but we have not shipped anyone out. Most clubs are suffering big time imo.

We are actually in the second category - the transfer ban meant, for FFP accounting purposes, we had not spent a cent of the Hazard/Morata money.

I'm just pointing out that this transfer splurge has come more or less from Chelsea's revenue streams...which means that Roman is free at any time to contribute another 100m! It should also be understood as a marker of the club's success as a business. To go from needing a wealthy benefactor to being able to spend ~200m of self-generated revenue, in the space of 17 years, shows how far the club has come along financially (and how impossible the task would be for other teams)
August 31, 20205 yr West Ham seem to be sticking by their guns with this ridiculous 80m valuation! Personally i'd be disappointed if we spend any more than 50m on this guy. Just don't think he is currently worth more.

There is a clear bias when it comes to English players where they're overhyped and estimated higher. They've valued higher due to homegrown registration and other things, so you'll pay over the value for an English player in most cases. Although I will say, Rice does have potential and he looks like a good player, I still think he's very overrated. However, he had a much better season this season, whereas last season I really never saw the hype with him (or should I say the season before). Still, I'll be furious if we pay over 50 million for him.
August 31, 20205 yr 80 million is at least double his real value, I'd hate to be gauged by West Ham so deeply.
August 31, 20205 yr This purchase of Chilwell and the hyped claim we are after Rice is interesting. We already have Mount & James as regulars is Lampard thinking back to Mourinho's first successful tour with its hyped English spine.?

Its just a number floated around to make the player's current club determined not to sell. But apparently West Ham do have to sell to raise funds during this window and they're supposedly having a hard time finding takers for players they are willing to sell. Which means they may have to settle for getting money for a player they're not willing to sell. Right now it's a buyers market and more than ever clubs will need to sell even when they don't want to.
