Doesn't help when you're injured for a full year does it...

He's clearly a quality player, he was fantastic at Palace and under Sarri whenever he played. But he can't catch a break when it comes to injuries, no excuses for today, but I'm not buying into this narrative that he's all of a sudden rubbish and overrated.

I'm not talking about last year. I'm talking about the full time he's been involved with the first team.

I don't see the hype at all and don't think he will be playing too much a role this season either if this is the form he's showing. We have better footballers on his position.

So in the absence of Barkley I see Ruben has become the main focal point for criticism on here. Presumably if he gets subbed off he can pass that over to CHO or Reece.

Please tell me what is it that he has brought to this game today? Lamps gave him the trust to play the opening game and this is how he repays him?

When was the last time he actually had a good performance? I struggle to remember.

Probably the game before he picked up his injury. That completely destroyed his confidence and form. I always said the decision to play Loftus-Cheek in that charity match in America two days after we finished our season was stupid, especially when we have been open about having to manage him differently to other players because of his injury problems.

I thought he was excellent before his injury. Behind Hazard as our best performing player at the time.

Really stupid setup in our pressing. Either devote enough players to press them high, forcing them to play long, or stay compact and hit them on the counterattack. We are sending two, three players to press five Brighton players.

Well because he has been awful.. We are allowed to point it out, he is sooo lazy, you would think he would be pleased to play.

Havertz doesn't look particularly effective out wide. And Mount never has. Just not really creating anything.

RLC’s form was so good before that injury, still seems like he needs to eased back into the team.

Could do with Havertz in the middle in the 2nd half.

We'll still being saying that when he's the wrong side of 30!

I'd put Havertz in the middle before we sub him off.

We are basically still playing with the same tactics as last season. It's getting annoying seeing teams like Brighton outplay us

Very boring half. It is obvious our players arent fully fit after having just 8 days of pre season, which explains us playing deep and counter attacking.  I just hope we can nick a goal and hold on because physically we look Knackered already. We are really missing the Wizardry of Ziyech

Having read all the press and the thoughts and opinions expressed in it over the last few weeks I must admit I had high expectations of our ‘football ruining 200 million plus’ spending spree. Imagine my confusion when I saw we had just two new   young players in the pitch. No idea why having these two in the team had upped the stakes so much for Lampard it got Klopp so bothered.

Half time verdict: Pretty boring to watch.

On the left of a midfield 3 like we saw with Sarri in the Europa run

That means Mount will likely have to sit on the bench, not going to happen.

I mean he's done nothing but lose the ball today has RLC. Starts the second half in the same manner.
