March 7, 20242 yr I think it's time we moved him on. His performances have been below average for a while when fit, and the "when" part is also a big reason to sell him. I feel for him and Reece, but we need our own Gusto there to take the reigns on this one, Chilwell is even unreliable as a backup at this rate.
March 7, 20242 yr Yeah better sell him while his value is still high. But then will we use the money onto a replacement or pay off the debt? I don’t know.
March 7, 20242 yr Better for us if we sold him and Reese at the very first opportunity. As well as other players with recurring injuries. I feel strongly about him and Reese because it is obvious they will never have a season devoid of injury and they hold or are meant to hold important places in the team. Also not good for morale in a squad with an already fragile morale.
March 7, 20242 yr Chilwell should thank his lucky stars he isn't a horse, or else he'd be halfway to the glue factory by now.

Only a matter of time before the likes of Disasi, Caicedo, Enzo and Jackson pick up an injury that they never recover from.

I know the club is already putting out fillers that they want to sell Cucurella & take the loss, but Chilwell has to be moved on before him IMO. He was injury prone even while at Leicester, missing an average of 14 league games per season in his 4 season there. It has now gone up to 22 league games per season here. At this point he can only be depended on as a rotation option, but not at his £250k/w wages. I just don’t think there is any club that his going to touch those wages with that injury record.
March 8, 20242 yr Who would buy such a injury prone player on massive wages? Chilly would probably have to accept a pay cut, and why would he do that.

Maybe we could sell him on the "it's just a chelsea thing" plan, and show them how Kovacic, Kante, and the rest of them have been fine since leaving 🤣
March 8, 20242 yr Ridiculous we extended his contract last April of all times given everyone was sh*t during that period.

March 8, 20242 yr He's one of our only players who is genuinely good, and the alternative is Cucurella, who is bad at football.

March 9, 20242 yr I really like Ben, but its seriously time to consider a more stable and available long term option (we need a left footed Gusto). Tough to find a buyer, but it might be time.

He's impressing after making the step up to Dortmund... https://bvbbuzz.com/posts/chelsea-loanee-ian-maatsen-continues-to-make-an-argument-for-a-permanent-stay-at-borussia-dortmund-01hr7zjcde9r
March 10, 20242 yr I mean Spurs found Udogie. They certainly are available with actual decent scouting.
March 10, 20242 yr If my understanding of PSR rules is correct, then cost of the original transfer fee for a player is spread over 5 years by default. So that would mean for PSR we would still owe mayb e10m on Chilwell. In theory we could make some money for PSR compliance if we sold him for a decent fee. Question would be around which clubs would be interested, especially given his wages and injury history?

May as well just sell them all then. I would rather we get to the bottom of these injury issues and give our players a chance to reach their best again, because every time we sell a player, they seem to be perfectly fine at their new club.
