The missus was cleaning the kitchen wall units this morning and she accidentally knocked one of the wine glasses off the top shelf. Mendy came flying out of the front room where he had been reading the Sunday Sport with his keeper gloves on, dived across the kitchen floor and caught the wine glass with his out-stretched left hand.

The missus was so grateful. It was one of her best lead-cristal Tulip wine glasses. I'd have never have heard the last of it if it wasn't for Mendy.

Lot being made of his snub for the golden ball. Lot of accusation of racism as the reason why, quite a few pointing out if Mendy was English and Mount from Senegal the nomination woild have gone to Mendy instead.

I’m sure there a lot of factors but what irritates me is the nomination of donnaruma and not Mendy. Mendy had a much better season than donnaruma yet he is being overlooked . The same can be said about Salah. His consistency and form is unbelievable, always in contention for golden boot yet he is not mentioned along other players for ballon d’or and fifa best player. Guess some players and fashionable and others are not

Since always of course , but other than that, Mendy is not French, he's Senegalese. I think that's what @Argo was referring to.

For our leage hopes we can hope the club world cup gets moved to then to move a few league games till after he is back.

Obviously great moments from Mendy on Saturday, but I was hugely impressed with his game management. Taking some minutes with the physio after taking the ball to the face completely took the sting out of the game, and allowed us to settle and regain some composure.

Mendy was born in Paris, so yes he is French. More specifically he is from Longjumeau a commune in the southern suburbs of Paris, France.

He plays for the Senegal natiinal team, so that was probably what Argo meant by unfashionable.

He got a lot of love from the Harding and the Shed the other night - that’s better than any stupid award if you ask me!

Even in a 'somewhat' one-sided game, he still managed to play his part:

Making that one save when you've had nothing to do all game vs making numerous saves when your team are getting battered.

Very few keepers specialise in both, he does. 

His concentration for 90mins is very good.

So, even when he makes it difficult on himself he still saves a goal that’s supposed to go in 64% of the time! He’s a world class keeper then.

With the Norwich forwards it was probably down to 2% again 😂 did you see the open goal they missed last game?

Redmond bettered that effort yesterday :).. 

On the comment - mendy was already in a forward position, playing as a keeper .. trying to go back would have put him in a no mans land ..

Not to mention that the block was something a world class left back or world class centre back would also have been proud of pulling off.  Mendy has multiple hats  :-) 

If we’re ever having an injury crisis at CB I reckon he could do a job. Eyes never left the ball there!
